Wii is really not going to last as long as Xbox 360 & PS3. So, Wii is really not "in this race".

So:

Xbox 360 has 19 Million boxes.
PS3 has 12 Million boxes.

Even if Sony has barely outsold them during the beginning of the year due to the hardware shortage, the bottom line is this:

IT doesnt matter. The PS3 will not pass the Xbox 360 during this generation, and the Xbox 360 will end up with a greater install base.

Further, by game sales, the Xbox 360 leads by leaps and bounds.

There are as many people on Xbox LIVE as there are PS3s on the whole planet. Xbox 360 is the only true next-gen console because the PS3 is stuck with AOL-quality online service.

They can hang in there maybe a little more than what their first xbox did prob sell 5-10 million more MAX but Ps3 will sell as much as the ps2 has when its life-cylce is over if not more. Ps3 has already outpassed the ps2s sales in EU and once the US economy gets a little back on track and they lower the ps3 price to 200-300 sweet spot price then they will start selling like hot cakes.

How can they be so proud of selling when PS2 has outsold 360 since day one...How is that a victory. That's the reason xbox720 will release at least 2 years ahead of the PS4 because there is no need for sony to try to compete when the money is in the lower cost hardware

with sales in the U.S. I think the popularity of the 360 in the U.S is mainly because of the differences in culture. There are many Western Style RPGs releasing on 360...Fable 2, Mass Effect..etc. Not to mention many other types of western themed games in all types of genres. Also Micro's portfolio for the 360 is a lot more diverse than the original Xbox.

And I always laugh at people who bring up the 'Superiority' of dedicated servers. Xbox Live does have dedicated servers for some games. And the funniest thing of all is the the Playstation Network uses a P2P connection for some of their games.

All online games have lag by the way. I experience lag even on PC games. In any kind of network there will always be hangups. So the argument really has become weak.

Japan - Where Brand Name is absolutely King. I don't care what may say ,but people over there just love their brand names and its much harder jumping ship, for any reasons. The history of Sony + Nintendo in Japan is over 35 years. MS you got your work cut out for ya, but doing better than the Original Xbox is a Plus. Plenty of RPG's so no excuses.

I see no Looser this Gen. when I mean looser sorta like 3D0 style. The way I see it MS can continue to do well in th eStates and do well neck in neck in Europe and just OK in Japan. uh huh, too much is invested.

So open your "hearts" and "wallets" and enjoy all the games.

Nah, I doubt that the Xbox 360 will win this console war. I think that Microsoft is forgetting the 100+ million PS2 user base because there's NO WAY you can forget that.

Also, Microsoft is going to have to do more than just sell well in the United States to win this console war.

The Playstation 3 outsold the Xbox 360 in Europe even after the 360 had been out a whole year earlier and that is just a sign for what's coming in the United States.

Also, the number of 360's sold is not exactly accurate either because there's no telling how many 360 owners bought multiple 360's every time Microsoft introduced some new Chip to lower the Failure rate and the amount of people that bought multiple 360's because of the RROD.

It is just a matter of time before the PS3 outsells the Xbox 360 because the only place in the world where the Xbox 360 has more console units sold than the PS3 is the United States.

And I really don't see Xbox 360 console unit sale numbers increasing that much significantly from now on because Microsoft has already released it's biggest game title Halo 3, and they are about to released Gears of War 2, and other than those games, the Xbox 360 really doesn't have anything else "yet" that will be a system seller game for the console.

The Original Xbox only sold around 25 million console units worldwide, so basically, almost all of the people that have owned Original Xbox's have gotten 360's and the rest of the people that are still buying the 360 are just left overs.

Microsoft wont be able to compete with Sony's brand loyalty, and just like Micheal Patcher predicted, whenever GTA4 was released, the Playstation brand loyalty really kicked in and spurred PS3 sales. Just imagine what will happen to PS3 sales once Sony's other big games are released later this year and next year. This console war between the 360 and PS3 is FAR from over. Microsoft is already declaring victory whenever the real battle hasn't even begun.

After MGS4 releases, the PS3 will officially be in high gear because up to now, the PS3 has been crusing along. Microsoft started off this console war out of the gate in high gear and now things are starting to slow down, and if you don't believe me, just look at the 360's big upcoming games past Gears of War 2 and you will see that the 360's big first party lineup is fading FAST.

and 360 seems to be doing quite well hear in the US, and thats really helping 360 a lot.

360 owners buy a lot of games.. they should be proud of that... but don't brag about an achievement when they had an early start..

I suppose what Microsoft is trying to accomplish, is to put the PS3 out of business. It's just not going to happen.

Yup, it has "No Games" and still managed to sell 12 million worldwide. Imagine the PS3 "With Games" like MGS4, etc. etc. All a matter of time folks.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 360 for it's purpose. But boy oh boy I hate Microsoft and the Free PR folks (you know who you are.)

I am sorry but isn't Wii leading worldwide or MS is only referring to its battle with Sony?.

It is impressive that they reach 10 million already in NA but people must put things into perspective.

1. This is less than 1/4 of PS2 only installbase in NA.
2. It has taken them about 2 1/2 years to reach this with one year without competition.
3. Its major exclusive is out already as well as other major multi-plat games.
4. The PS3 is only just warming up.

If you take these into consideration. Its pretty hard for to believe that the x360 will eventually win the console war.

I doubt ms will outsell the ps3 in the long run but they have dented its much share hugely. I for one didn't think they would be in the position they are in now even with the head start so i guess they have done quite well. who would have thought gta would sell more on a MS machine rather than a Sony one, and who would have guessed the console with the most RPG's and Stratagy games etc would be a MS one. Not me. Who knows, im just glad its a not a one horse race this time round.

MS will hit about 35 million sold before it comes out with their next console. Sony will hit 120 million but not until it has already released it's next console and has had about two years of selling both the PS3 and the PS4. Why do I say this? Simply put, history repeats itself. I think MS learned some good stuff last gen and has brought that to the table this gen and will sell more 360 than original Xbox's but in the end, they will only sell strong in the US and nowhere else. Sony on the other hand will sell well and even throughout the world and be able to stretch the lifespan of the PS3 well into the 8 to 9 year range.

People are so crazy this is so well unimportant. Who really cares of a systems sales? Anyone that thinks the wii isnt competition then what is it? It competes for sales and resources of developers thats competition. Just let that argument go. As for the 360 big deal it gets 10 million in america great for the system but when america is its bread and the wii is on the verge to pass it in the next month or two then somethig is wrong. As for the ps3 its going to do what it was always going to do sell to their sony fans. Thats not knocking it or anything and certainly isnt a bad thing considering its huge install base with ps2. Its jsut something I noticed.

I know a ton of people with a wii that didnt own a gc(talking about real gamers not the new casuals. Everytime I go somewhere a friend of mine has a wii whcih it is 70% a person who did nt own a gc. As for 360 I see them everywhere and its like 30-40% of people that didnt own a xbox. As for a ps3 the only people I know that own a ps3 are people that own a ps2. Not saying thats always the case just from all the poeple I run into or meet I only find former ps2 owners with a ps3. It just seems like everyone else has expanded their reach which I guess is easier since they had such a small install base before.

After all that do I think the ps3 will pass the 360 absolutely seeing as how the 360 cant sell in japan and at the moment sonys got 2 mil in sales there which will only grow. Thats the deciding factor for me. Sony will get their sales in america maybe never beat 360 here, but it wont matter not when they are sure to sell at least 10 million in japan(especuially with FFXIII). They are back and forth in eurpoe and ps3 will overtake them without a real problem if they havent already I cant rememb er at the moment so it will come down to how much of a lead 360 can maintain in america to couter act its lack of sales in japan.

As for the ps3 passing the wii. Well id otn know about that. Its certainly possible Sonys got a good game lineup and well more then likely get sales from most of the hardcore crowed, but will it beat out wii? I dont think its likely the wii is selling like crazy and while demand will slow down at some point nintendo has been really good about putting out games to really push sales. They just kinda rotate games and systems to differn territories. Systems are all coming to america in the wait for wii fit by the time that starts to slow in america, systems will go to europe for the Smash launch. So that alone will keep sales for the wii into july. So I dont really see the ps3 passing the wii. Even if ps3 sales do shoot through the roof at some point I dont think its sales will be that much greater then the wii to really take huge strides against its lead.

It's become apparent to the nation that Xbox 360 is a catastrophic mess of a console and is going through the same blunders and downfall that took Sega under. Microsoft does a terrible job at masking this situation by trying to boast about the most irrelevant and untrue facts.

Microsoft may have indeed sold 10 million in it's home country, but it's embarassing that Nintendo has already long achieved this feat and PLAYSTATION®3 will undoubtedly hit 10 million in a sooner time frame than Xbox 360. Also taken into account is the fact that Microsoft omitted their European and Japanese numbers. Will anyone care to compare those numbers to PLAYSTATION®3? Also, Microsoft has failed to mention that 2007 spelled doom for them as they came in last place in worldwide sales.

There are several improvements to be made with Xbox 360 and Microsoft has simply swept those problems under the rug in hopes that their dilluted Microslave faithful will follow. As sales show, only PLAYSTATION®3 will give the customer the true bang for their buck.

A 16:2 lead over the PS3 in games topping one million in sales. That's an 8:1 ratio. The 360 has not been out 8 times as long as the PS3. The 360 is the choice of hardcore gamers.

Both are doing good in this aspect. 50 is a number to be proud of for the amount of time it's been out, but the 360 is blowing everything else out of the water. Yeah, I know the 360 has a year's advantage, but that number is 41 greater than the PS3. Pretty damn good for one year.
