Well, considering that the USA is the largest and arguably most important market, this is indeed a big deal.

Developers are going to continue to want to bring great games to the Xbox 360. And that is what I (and other gamers) are interested in.

The Xbox 360 is the leader in the true-HD console market right now, without a doubt. And there is no reason that is going to change at all.

Good job MSFT, keep up the excellent job.

You gotta at least do well on your "HOME-TURF."

As the "underdawg", everything else will fall into place in due time but for now that's a good number to feel good about at HOME.

These numbers mean something different to everyone.

Like, Investors/MS/Developers/Gamers ..but as a whole MS is just cementing it's brand name, still more work to do though with the likes of PS an NINTENDO.(the biggest gaming brand beasts)

I may not post here often I do find the articles submitted have less to do about what really matters and that’s gaming. I own all three current gen consoles and I am very pleased with them all. I do not care who is first, second or third because in the end I will get to enjoy the games that all the console makers produce. Will it make one bit of difference if Sony were to overtake Microsoft. In my opinion no. This is a multi platform generation and although we me see some exclusives here and there, all the consoles will get just about the same games.

Again people the only people that win a console race are the gamers. We get to play games on three different platforms. Would there really be any fun with one console calling all the shots? In my opinion no.

Sony just announced yesterday that ~13 million PS3s have been sold to customers, but Microsoft said they're only 5 million units ahead of Sony. Microsoft used Shipped numbers in 2006 and 2007, so I don't see them doing any differently this year. But back on topic, did anyone notice they referred to GTA IV more than any of their exclusive titles?

Microsoft is trying so hard to convince developers and publishers to stay away from the PS3, and it's pathetic really. Almost no one in the business sector pays more attention to Life-to-Date sales than quarterly/monthly growth. Microsoft can talking about attach rates all they want, but it won't make Sony's software sales advantage (total per month) go away. They can talk about life-to-date sales, but the PS3 just surpassed Xbox 360 in the largest game territory in less than half the time it took Microsoft. Outselling the 360 by a quarter million units a month is hard to ignore as well.

Microsoft states: "History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle."

-Dreamcast reached 10 million in sales before the PS2 did. Just saying.-

God there are alot of delusional people in the Gamer Zone.. 360 came out a year before competition.. I would hope it got there first.. HAHA I love the 360 fans in gamer zone claiming 360 is the most truest HD experience..

No HD movie format
No standard HDD in all Skus
No HD Disc (still devs on DVD9) Last Gens main disc
No advancement in graphics (check Halo 3 and GeoW2)(supposedly their best looking games)

PS3 is the only true next-gen system the Wii and 360 shouldn't even be considered next-gen consoles. First off the Wii and 360 still use an old format called DVD which only holds 4.7 gbs of data or 9gb on dual layer disc, the PS3 uses Blu-ray which holds 25gb of data or 50gb on dual layer disc. The Wii has no hdmi port which is necessary for the future while the 360 has an hdmi port 1.2 and the PS3 has an hdmi port that supports 1.3a. The differences first off 1.2 supports 16.7 million colors while 1.3a supports over 1 billion colors. 1.2 cant use Dolby True HD or DTS HD Master Audio and it cant support 7.1 surround sound, while on the other hand hdmi 1.3a supports all that plus more. hdmi 1.2 can only support 1920x1080p60fps maxed out while 1.3a supports 2560x1600p60fps maxed out. An added bonus about 1.3a also supports x.y.Color and Deep Color which 1.2 dosent. 1.3a also has a way higher transfer rate and bit rate compared to 1.2. Also the 360 has 3 core processors which is old news considering Intel makes Quad Core Processors while the PS3 has the revoluntionary Cell processor which has 8 and the Wii has a weak processor we dont even nedd to talk about.You cant even upgrade the 360 HD unless u pay for an overpriced 120 piece of crap HD on th PS3 u can upgrade your HD limitleesly. The 360 or the Wii doesnt even have an HD movie playback drive the PS3 does. The PS3 is built stronger than both the Wii and 360 it can handle more heat and cold and still not break down. Also the PS3 firmware constantly upgrades the system and by far has the most multimedia compatibilities compared to the Wii and 360. The RSX GPU can handle DirectX 10 level details and graphics the 360 GPU can't. The PS3 is truly the only system worthy of being called next gen and is the most future proof console that ever existed. First off lets get one thing clear 360 dosent have exclusives microsoft has exclusives on the 360. Every game that comes out on the 360 comes out on pc also. gears of war is on both platforms bioshock is on both mass effect is coming to pc and pretty soon halo 3 will be on pc. Playstation owners can play all your so called 360 exclusives on computer but u cant play playstation exclusives unless u buy a playstation that means no mgs4, kz2, rfom2,ff13, or gow3 on pc. So ill go enjoy mass effect and and gears of war 2 on my pc without buying and xbox hahahahahahaha

A lot of ppl aren't taking into account that the Wii could sell a lot more consoles stateside if the choosed to, however demand is so high world wide they would rather choose to ship them elsewhere.

This is in part due to the declining value of the dollar. Nintendo could make more money selling their console in Europe considering the Euro is posting all time highs against the dollar.

One thing is positive though, demand for Wii's are greater than that of 360's or PS3's. Wii's have been in short supply since launch. The same can't be said of any other console.

Now Nintendo might not make as much a profit on Wii, I don't know their manufacturing costs, and their attach rate also isn't as impressive, but no one can deny they have sold significantly more consoles worldwide then their competitors.

It's funny, because Nintendo's strongest selling product used to be the DS, which is now being overtaken by the PSP by leaps and bounds. They sold like 250% more PSP's than DS's in Japan last month alone!

I don't appreciate PS3 faqboys entering into a forum that clearly doesn't involve them and then putting sh*t in everyones face while they're here. I just don't see the logic, unless they're so bored with whatever it is they have for a console.

As for the LevDog, he makes points that make the 360 sales EVEN MORE STAGGERING! That it STILL sells despite the tears he is shedding over these complaints! DVD9...HDD optional, wow! All good points to make.

But 360 pushes onward.

Oh, and stop crying about Gears! You'll be able to watch us 360 gamers play a REAL game, while you creep back to n4g to spend 99% of YOUR time online TALKING about games instead of playing them.
