The PS3 has been outselling the 360 worldwide since October, this is nothing new. If you meant that it's outselling the 360 in every region worldwide, then I'd tell you just wait for the NPD numbers to confirm the US sales. This reality hasn't hit me as yet. The PS3 can't possibly be outselling the 360 in the USA this soon into it's life.

The PS3 outsold the 360 for January and February. It think it was a virtual tie in March though. I don't know if April's numbers have been released yet. Still ... all the consoles seem to be doing well. Good times for everyone.

I really think some of the PS3 fans need to shut it. The Gloating and the "xbox is dead" crap needs to stop. Seriously ... that sh1t belongs in the other section.

chill. I said nothing bad about your beloved PS3. I actually said something bad about the 360 (space heater). The PS3 is a gaming machine and a blu-ray player Sony markets it as so. I see more movie commercial that say also on PS3 than I see game commercial. I use to see more Ps2 commercials than movie commercials. No harm done, I will get a Ps3 when Killzone2 comes out. I could care less if the PS3 sold 10 million consoles a day for the next 100 years.

6 - time for a price cut
it crazy but the wii will be the console winner, it just not for hard core gamers but for older couples and kids so it has a much wider audience and a cheaper price. My mother love the wii and has lost 30 ponds, and cant wait to get the wii fit board.

I think it about time for Microsoft to lower the price on there console to give it a boost in sales. same for the ps3 it will increase in sales once the price becomes affordable to the rest of the population that cant afford 500 dollars for a gaming system.

Last months VG chart figures showed exactly the same trend, then out came the NPD numbers which told us a completly different story, take these numbers with a pinch of salt one thinks.

And for those who keep on saying the xbox 360 is dead, how on earth do you come up with that, even if these numbers are true, its not like we are reading ps3 120,000 - xbox 360 2000 (apart from japan :))

Well you could always look at the numbers in a more meaningful way:

Percentage of American PS3 owners who have bought GTA = 35.15%

Percentage of American 360 owners who have bought GTA = 26.45%

So more than a third of PS3 owners have bought the title in the US, compared with just over a quarter of 360 owners.

Anyone who is objectively interested in sales trends among the machines would find that interesting....

..and while I'm using 'calc' the weekly software attach rate: (the percentage of a machine install base that bought a game this week)

PS3 -18.2%
360 -14.52%
WII -12.37%

Which is proving to be the normal picture for every single weeks data.

In reality of course NPD and VGChatz use pretty much the same system and statistically speaking produce very similar results (certainly within 10% variance.)

The difference is that NPD has a much larger sample of retailers in the US, and so has indisputably the more accurate figures. However, you can track VGChatz record and it plainly shows its always close to the same results.

The constant bleating of platform warriors like Bladestar are much more prevalent now that the tables have turned in terms of sales numbers for the respective platforms. They never said a word when their favorite machine was whooping the opposition and they posted VGChartz numbers to prove it.

If there is a provable bias on the VGchartz website it would seem to be in favor of the 360 - with sales of that machine well over tracked and sales of the PS3 under tracked. You can see this looking at world wide sell through figures. Microsoft recently confirmed that they have about 5 million more install base, but VGChartz will show it as much higher. Official figures suggest the PS3 has now got a larger install base in Europe than the 360, but VGChartz shows the 360 with a 1million + lead still.

So if theres a bias - its in favor of the people who are desperately bleating 'its all made up'.

Its not made up - it just doesn't show you what you want to read.
If you discredit it so much, then why come into this thread and waste your time posting? Get the hell out and let the rest of us track the trends how we want.

As long as you don't take the numbers as absolute gospel, these chartz are a useful tool for tracking the trends - and for some regions, there the only source of data we have.

I agree, vgcharts is pretty inaccurate. But you can tell where his feelings are. He WANTS the 360 to outsell the PS3. So he's very happy if VGcharts estimations are off. Rather than just see them as estimations, he cant wait to see the NPD numbers so he can rub it in people's faces.

16 - Even though NPD is our best monthly solution
I still prefer official numbers from the hardware manufacturers themselves. Takes about a year, but at least NPD is pretty accurate (within 5~10%). VG Chartz though is usually way off. Their PSP figures for instance are about 7 million units behind.

There were many times that VGchartz data did not look anything like NPD data. Last year Sony fans hated it because it always had 360 in th lead and when the actual numbers came out, 360 was still in the lead just not by much. However I have seen cases where they put the PS3 ahead of the 360 only to have NPD data release and show the exact opposite. I dont really care which second place console sales the most. Will never own a 360 or any other MS console, and I recently sold my PS3 due to lack of gaming focus. Not to mention the console I will never buy getting the better version of every multi platform game over PS3. They can sale millions or flop and go bankrupt. Neither company interests me any more as a gamer. I'll just stick to PC,Wii gaming. All the 360 and PS3 seem to be able to do so far is rehash the same games from last gen with very little new ideas thrown in that can also be found on the PC with better graphics, game play, and a cheaper price.

I have yet to talk to someone who purchased a Wii who still uses it more then once a month.

IMO the Wii is a gimmick and a bad one at that. Nintendo lost all of my respect when it stuck with entertaining kids instead of evolving like the Playstation or Xbox.

I started with the Coleco Vision, NES, SNES, N64 then jumped to Sony
PS2, PS3, Xbox + 360. I was a devoted Nindo fan but after Goldeneye nothing was appealing anymore.

If the Wii had an accurate control system and was more up to date with its hardware and software, I would think about getting one.
