Madden NFL 2008 vs. 2009 Graphics Comparison

"After seeing the game for the first time at EA Canada's press event last week, we could tell right away that Madden NFL 09 had improved visually over last year's edition. To help show this, PSU.com decided we'd provide a side-by-side screenshot comparison of last year's Madden NFL 08 vs. the new Madden NFL 09.

To begin, notice that faces have been enhanced to fit NFL counterparts better, as well as jersey and arm muscles have been modified to look more realistic. Improved stadium and player self-shadow casting has been added, in addition to better field effects such as fuller precipitation, footprints in the snow, and better looking field grass.

Other improvements that would need to be seen in motion include more animations, now in 60fps for PS3, and better camera presentation. Take a look at the screenshots below and decide for yourself on how much Madden has changed."

The weather effects are probably one of the biggest graphical changes. It looked very nice when they showed it to us at the EA event in Canada.

How about adding refs to the field? It is like playing a racing game with no driver in the car having no refs on the field. I still don't see any in these shots. EA it's getting harder and harder to support you. I am purchasing less games from you year after year and those games are usually one you don't create but only publish.

Awesome! So worth paying 60 bucks so to get a slightly touched up version of last years game so next year a NEWER version comes out and suddenly your 60 bucks dont feel so valuable anymore. WOW!Thanks EA!

Wow!!! Tracks in the snow!? Konami did this with MGS way back on PS1. Way to go with your innovation EA! If you really wanted to create a good game worth paying for again, try taking a year off and designing a new engine.
