I've always said if you are trying to make an argument and basing them off of VGChartz then you have no argument.

Unfortunately there are no real ways beyond Charttrak to get accurate sales numbers for PAL territories so people jump on these "made up" number's.

I agree however you have sony dude saying PS3 has outsold 360 in Europe offically (Revealed at Sony Gamer day), however Msoft dude says there still about 1 mill in Europe, so who is right...

And people who cite that news that PS3 is out selling 360 in Europe, REALIZE, VGCHartz isn't just including europe in their #, there including alot of other pal terrorites, like africa, Ausutralia, India, etc.

Yeah, i know. 1 million...thats not exactly a small amount

What i love about VGChartz sales for Europe though is that PS3 outsells 360 practically everywhere in Europe, right? We have this small area of Europe called "Others". No, it's not the other european countries. No, its not Australia. Its a magical land where unicorns skip around with frilly bows down paths of gold through flowering forests, where birds sing your name and squirrels press your pants. And in this "others" region, Xbox 360 continually outsells ps3 by like double? Going against the trend abit? Just seems really weird to me, but hey, it's VGChartz

The guy at Microsoft must have mistakenly meant 1 million ahead in the UK and not all of Europe.

There shouldn't be anyone now who still clings to the notion that vgchartz is anything but the delusions of the Xbox fan who runs the site after Microsoft made their 5 million lead comment exposing the extra 1.6 million 360 sales on the site as nothing but a fraud.

The PS3 has been outselling the 360 in the UK for a very long time as confirmed by ChartTrak.

ChartTrak gave an idea of how fake the vgchartz numbers were when they talked about the massive 360 price cut doubling 360 sales and bringing them near PS3 levels. In other words the PS3 had been outselling the 360 by 2:1 in the months before the latest 360 price cut.

heh the boss at vgchartz doen't even own a ps3 he lives in uk and is a huge 360 fan.. he banned ppl when they put up threads about sonys gamer day.. when they said how the charts were wrong... he just don't want to admit hes wrong..

if people look vgcharts as the 360 1/4 of a million infront of the ps3. others mean more than just europe. i summited a graph to show this but most likely gonna get failed. and im fed up of people every week sayin that vgchart shouldnt be used. like it or not vgcharts is the only global sales site we have. so dont think youre doing something new by slaggin off this site. someones slags it off every week and im tired of it.

But it doesn't even line up with the better estimates from each of it's regions, doesn't pole a significant part of the market (sometimes less than 5%), and doesn't even correspond with OFFICIAL numbers.

It's never safe to say anything when referring to the games industry.
Anything can happen. I suggest you stop cementing your judgment that the 360 has "won this generation" with only 2 countries in the Euro region while the PS3 hasn't released its' big games yet and has only been on the market a year and a half now.

yes, its not like psp/ds difference in japan, its way closer...a couple of months like that with ps3/360 in europe and US, and it could change very quickly. but of course, you have to argue that in this generation, the x360 is a stumbling block...although I diagree with your trends setting analysis: within one year ps3 overtaking x360 lead in europe, (okay maybe within a year and a bit, but they still started from scratch and reached those heights: brand loyalty), and is 2/3rd's on it's way to catching up 360 global lead in a year and a half...if x360 doesn't manage do something to sway things in it's favour like have mass effect 2 or bioshock two exclusive then sony's going to *win* between x360 and a ps3 *race*, but even though that gap is 'closing down', the gap is still growing between the wii and the rest...
edit: I really don't know why the x360 isn't selling more too be honest, it's like a £150, in the uk, brand can't be as strong as they reckon...

9 - VG has always been wrong.
If you look at their numbers, they add things that are giveaways as being sold. Wii Sports always sells the exact number in America as the number of Wii's sold. It comes free with the console. The numbers for games like Forza 2 and Motorstorm are the same. They are inflated. If you look at previous articles you will see that the numbers on the consoles might be close. Would never trust their software info though.

Microsoft said that they had sold about 18 million at the end of Feb.

ps. npd has made mistakes before...but still if GFK would release their data info, and chartrack could release their hardware update every month, and we had media create or someone similiar do more of asia, at least the biggest ones, we could viably have a more accurate 'balance sheet'. VG chart's doesn't show the strength of trends per say but it tends to show them none the least...wii's running away, ps3 catching up, x360 going steady. at the very least they use japanese figures for real...

edit: chartrack and gfk collobrate to come up with a european picture but they release that as a product at the end of the year, can't see them publishing those figures at the end of every month but they could settle the dispute on whether 360 or ps3 are about to lead in europe post playstation gamers day.
