You have to figure, if each console received the same % of console sales boost because of GTA IV,the Xbox 360 would obviously sell more units because it already had such a large base.

and I can tell you first hand at my store we sold more GTA 4 on the 360 then ps3 its about 3 to 1 at my store. As for consoles sold we sold more 360's then ps3.

I don't know what numbers ForTheFallen is looking at, but it has always been reported that the Xbox360 version of GTA IV sold more than 1 MILLION more copies than the PS3 version

You need to look at the sales.
Europe sells about 2/3 of what is sold in the US, but we pay about double what you guys pay. Meaning Europe alone beats the US in earnings.

It actually has more to do with the size of the audience than anything else. The US market is important because it is big. However, US sales aren't everything. Selling more systems globally is more significant than selling more systems in one country, especially when that country's currency isn't what it used to be.

It really is a global economy now. Local numbers don't mean much anymore.

The fact of the matter is that the USA goes big with everything we do. Video Games, when they are released, and I'm talking about the big ones, they are always released in the US, long before the UK, hell, the UK has had to wait for everything, simply because there is more to be gained in the US. We consume more than three times the amount of oil than other countries. Basically, we spend, and that is why, getting back to all of this, is why even the 360 outselling the ps3, even if in just the US, is huge. Although I'm sure after all the official numbers are out, they will show more territories where the 360 reigned supreme.

GTA1 was released on numerous platforms including PS1 and PC. But every last GTA has been on a playstation, so I think we can say it's a PS franchise, just not exclusively.

No, brand means nothing.

GTA3 was a complete reinvention of the series and only became as big as it is on PS2 and you know it.
