Week recap: PS3 sales up; Xbox 360 GTA IV; Wii Fit

Sales for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 increased at Japan retail. The hardware ranked No. 4 in overall hardware sales.

Grand Theft Auto IV is the No. 1 Xbox Live game this week. More than 2.3 million players have entered in multiplayer sessions for the action title.

An Ebay associate this week said that the company predicts greater demand for Wii Fit than Grand Theft Auto IV. The fitness title currently holds more than 163 listings prior to release on the auction site.

*gasp* It's Japan. Basically, Playstation central.

GTA IV is number one on Xbox...live!
I'm sure it is...but it didn't outsell the PS3 version. So there you go. Although that is a very ingenious way to start a phlame war, no doubt.

last time I checked which was two minutes ago 360 version was beating out the PS3 by almost a million, which does make sense, considering the dlc and the install base.

Greater demand for Wii Fit than GTA IV, that's an understatement. Good news for Nintendo is that regarless of how many Wiis they ship to the US between now & Christmas it isn't going to be enough.

After seeing how GTA4 spurred PS3 sales so much, I thinking that the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 in April worldwide and probably outsold the 360 in the U.S. as well. The PS3 sure is catching up with the 360, that's for sure.

The PS3 sales for June should take a jump because of Metal Gear Solid 4 and that game is guaranteed to be a system seller. The 80GB PS3 MGS4 bundle just makes the deal even sweeter and is must buy for anyone that's been on the fence about buying a PS3... I wouldn't be surprised if even the most die hard Xbox gamers started picking up PS3's for MGS4 because it's just that big of a game.

I predict that Xbox 360 sales wont surpass PS3 sales in the U.S. or Europe until Gears 2 possibly... but by the time Gears 2 comes out, people will be gearing up for Resistance 2 in November and Killzone 2 just 3 months after Resistance 2 comes out and will be buying PS3's, so PS3 sales could still surpass 360 sales when Gears 2 comes out, we'll just have to wait and see.

you can see this any way you want based on the console you prefer, the thing is Gears is a system seller and the metal gear games havent sold as well in the past, theyre just good games, I enjoy them. I do think the new one will sell more systems than the others before it, just because of the ad campaign they have behind it, I guess we will see.
