I have it reserved and I believe I will like it more than past GTAs due to a more adult story. But I have watched almost every available video and the graphics do not seem to warrant a 10. Some of the closeups from videos show quite a few low res textures, hands that look like they were modeled for last gen consoles, etc.

IGN stated they gave a 10 not because the game was perfect but because it pushes the bounderies and I just don't see the game doing that graphically. At least not from the videos.

A "10" is not a score we give out very often. In fact, the last time we gave a 10 to a console game was Soul Calibur in 1999. A 10 doesn't mean a game is perfect -- it means a game is pushing boundaries, expanding a genre, and doing many things to a level so far above and beyond its competitors that they overshadows any flaws. Certainly, GTA IV has some issues, the most noticeable being the occasional flaw in the cover system, but there are many more pieces of GTA IV that are better than anything I've seen from a game in the past decade. We don't give 10s often -- just to games that merit the score.

Nice. The UK team hasn't been around as long as the US team, but their 10/10 still holds weight, especially considering that they are oftentimes harsher reviewers than their US counterparts. The review doesn't go as in depth as the US review unfortunately.

"For those wanting to know which version looks better, the edge goes to the PS3. The textures and framerate are comparable, but the PS3 has far less pop-in. The 360 has richer colors, but the PS3 has better anti-aliasing making it look a little cleaner. Because GTA IV can preload onto the PS3 hard drive, the in-game loads are faster."

Looks like PS3 starts showing it's muscles. Expect this more common from now and some PS3 games will totaly outclass 360 games.

Mathematically, 10/10 is the absolute maximum you can achieve under normal circumstances. 100% right? I mean, as a score itself, it means perfect. However, there is no such thing as a perfect game, so that's why the number-scoring system should be abolished.

It feels as though time has flown by so fast leading up to this week. Then time seemed to just stop, seconds feel like minutes, minutes feel like hours well you get the point. With all the GTAIV madness that started this week with video leaks and reviews from top videogame sites giving 10's across the board. The wait is absolutely draining me of my excitement. I had my pre-order paid in full since Jan. after seeing clips of the Special Edition i immediately changed my preorder to get that version. I think it would of had been better if the release date was for today cuz then we'll have the whole weekend to screw around

I'm such a fan of the franchise that if the game got a 5 out of 10 I would still buy it day 1. I'm so glad and relieved to see the PS3 version is not gimped or inferior. IGN and 1Up say the PS3 has a slight edge but I expect other sites to say the same or opposite.

I wish I had the game now but it looks like I'll be co*k teased till Tuesday.

Ign stated that because it's true. They are saying it doesn't ruin the game. But a friend of mine who has a 360, and is a fanboy:) was annoyed because of the slowdown, I haven't seen it on 360 so i'm only taking his word for it. He also mentioned the jaggies.

I'm sure as always gt will do a comparison.

but he still loves the game.

If your a gta fan i'm guessing it won't matter.

Im going to try and be as non fanboyic as I can but what if this was a deliberate move by rockstar. What if they made the xbox version slightly inferior to show their loyalty. Im just saying because before this game nothing I mean nothing has shown that the Ps3 is more powerful than the xbox 360. Before you guys come here but... Uncharted, but... heavenly sword and then start naming games that havent come out yet. Uncharted while a great game was not superior looking than Gears of war. Heavenly Sword was ok but it was a frame rate nightmare.

DMC4/BURNOUT/COD4/AC/GTA4 all look and run better on PS3

Multiplat games that matter look and run better on PS3.

However all these multiplat games look like DOGSH** vs UNCHARTED which uses 30% of PS3's power

so any dev can make any game look good on PS3. Unfortunately GTA4 would have run at 1080P NATIVE had it been PS3 exclusive

Sammy Dmc 4 runs and looks better on the Xbox 360. --- I played both
Burnout paradise does look better on the Ps3 I played both.
Assassins creed plays and looks better on the Xbox 360. The number of glitches I encountered in the ps3 version were amazing.

"Like most multi-console games, any review would inevitably have to come down to which system is better, and for this instance, the PS3 winds up winning out just slightly. It's not in the gameplay department, because DMC4 plays the same regardless of which system that you play on. Nor is it in the visual department, because visual issues are virtually negligible. For example, the 360 has some harder edges to some characters during cutscenes, and a little more screen tearing than the PS3 at times. The PS3 can be a wee bit darker during some scenes, though. Both systems show off a certain amount of render passing that pops into focus on sweeping vista shots, but they occur at the same time on each system and are quickly dismissed. However, observing these differences will only come via frame-by-frame analysis of each game side-by-side. Even then, you're still receiving an incredible visual experience."

3 - Why PS3 is Better

PS3 is the only true next-gen system the Wii and 360 shouldn't even be considered next-gen consoles. First off the Wii and 360 still use an old format called DVD which only holds 4.7 gbs of data or 9gb on dual layer disc, the PS3 uses Blu-ray which holds 25gb of data or 50gb on dual layer disc. The Wii has no hdmi port which is necessary for the future while the 360 has an hdmi port 1.2 and the PS3 has an hdmi port that supports 1.3a. The differences first off 1.2 supports 16.7 million colors while 1.3a supports over 1 billion colors. 1.2 cant use Dolby True HD or DTS HD Master Audio and it cant support 7.1 surround sound, while on the other hand hdmi 1.3a supports all that plus more. hdmi 1.2 can only support 1920x1080p60fps maxed out while 1.3a supports 2560x1600p60fps maxed out. An added bonus about 1.3a also supports x.y.Color and Deep Color which 1.2 dosent. 1.3a also has a way higher transfer rate and bit rate compared to 1.2. Also the 360 has 3 core processors which is old news considering Intel makes Quad Core Processors while the PS3 has the revoluntionary Cell processor which has 8 and the Wii has a weak processor we dont even nedd to talk about. The 360 or the Wii doesnt even have an HD movie playback drive the PS3 does. The PS3 is built stronger than both the Wii and 360 it can handle more heat and cold and still not break down. Also the PS3 firmware constantly upgrades the system and by far has the most multimedia compatibilities compared to the Wii and 360. The RSX GPU can handle DirectX 10 level details and graphics the 360 GPU can't. The PS3 is truly the only system worthy of being called next gen and is the most future proof console that ever existed.
