This was the calm before the storm. The only chance the 360 would have outsold PS3 would be before blu-ray takes off, before metal gear, and the 360 still is riding there top games of 2007. Looks like 360 will not be able to come back afterall.

Exactly breakfast. As long as 360 has good games, it really shouldn't bother anyone. However it will be a lot easier for 360 owners to give up on their 360's after RROD now that sony is actually providing a significant threat. If sony holds them off in march, i really don't see them winning in April without price drop, and sony would be nuts not to drop price as well.

I definitely prefer my PS3 to my 360, and I'm happy to see sales doing so well for the system. But look at the software sales guys! The PS3 still has a lot of ground to make up when it comes to software sales. I do hope to see this figure massively improve though, as this will encourage more support from devs. Guys complain about lazy ports on the PS3, but if you all bought more games then devs would adjust their resources accordingly.

Keep focusing on units sold and not realzing that Ms's units sold is more effective to them than Sonys.

MS is making about 100.00 per console sold( my guess based on over 2 years at aout the same price point) So they just made appx 7.7 million last week. Not to mention the millions in software they just made.

Sony on the other hand is not selling alot of software and they aren't making money on consoles sold. Sony's money will come later on the gen when they are able to cut alot of cost and sell a crap load of ps3s like they are doing with the ps2.

No tmaking excuses but i think we all know that MS would be selling a lot more if they lowered the price to were it should be.,

Its should be the other way around. Gamers should not endorse low quality. Devs should treat their market audience with respect regardless of size. Why should PS3 owners pay the same for lower quality versions?. Smart devs knows that they are actually taking care of themselves but taking care of their customers. Good examples of games are Burnout, AC and COD4. All good MP titles that do quite well on the PS3 which is the way it should be. Give gamers quality and we will give our cash. Besides. There is about 3 times more x360 to PS3 in NA.

if i see betehr prots on the ps3 i will buy them but that the reson i only have 7 games 4 now becuz the real games havent come out jet, once kz2, rfom2n few otehr games come out i will buy it 4 sure, and few oterh games like haze i will see firt how good its and then meybe buy it and im nto buying gta4 at lease not know meybe on november when they give a special price tag for it liek $40

do these numbers mean so much to some people? Isnt the point of these systems to play games? I would think that games would be the thing to play instead of comment about sales figures.

Unless you got stock in the company (not by means of the console) you should be buying and playing more games instead of criticizing those who prefer one console over the other.

When we are on this site we are not play games. Numbers matter if you favor one console over another like 99% of people on this site for various reasons. The most important reason is more HW sales means more SW sales means more dev support for your prefered console. Its all good and dandy to say that you don't care about HW sales but when you start seeing less and less games on your console of choice because of low HW sales then i bet you wouldn't say what you are saying. To people like me . Its also about this console war. For as long as i can remember the console that sells the most unit wins and me being a PS fan i want PS3 to win just like how i want my rugby team to win all the time.

Own both. Trust me its a BIG problem solver. This isnt sports you dont have to root for one team. You buying virtually the same type of product that offers diffrent things.

You shouldnt be so inclined to like one console.

As for me i like the xbox360 better. But, thats stricktly because of games. Im the prime target audience for MS. That doesnt mean im not gonna get a ps3 (i have one). Because they have games that the xbox doesnt. Games that target me aswell, like GoW and GT5.

The only reason i like the format war is because the competition is there, and that'll raise the quality of the games. :)

I am being 100% honest here. If it werent for the x360 hardware issues. I would have bought an x360 last christmas. Its affordable and it has a pretty good game selection right now. I would prefer more action adventure games but x360 will soon have NG2 and Too Human. I live quite far away from main world centers and it took my friends 3 months to fix their x360. As i said. We are gamers that favour one console over another. For us older ones its just a game this console war.

So at this rate the ps3 will overtake the 360... when? Seems like a very very long time. In the mean time, the 360's larger install base is definitely helping it sell more software numbers - that's pretty dang important, too.

I never trusted VGChartz for more than a general estimate, but still.

Also, I'd wait on NPD for 360vPS3 sales. I'd imagine they're pretty close, of course a game console has never been a cheap alternative to a media player before.

if the ps3 continues to sell more than the 360 by this much every week... It will outsell it within 2 years - however, with the recent victory of blu-ray, and this years awesome line up of ps3 exclusives... i think it will be a lot sooner. I think by this time next year the ps3 will be on top.

0.1 - Software for the ps3 is still terrible....

Last week it was climbing..it was at 600K...those excuses about lower install base are out the window and have been since January with the ps3 eking out a win each month since, it is pretty consistent but I myself am hoping for a microsoft price drop...I think it will make a difference in North America since it ain't making a difference in Europe. Congrats to CCff7 with those immpressive numbers but they should be bigger...I cant understand how there are 12 million psps yet god of war for the psp cant break 500K in 4 weeks...piracy is killing all the hand helds IMO.

whatever helps you sleep at night dude...Your system was beaten by every single peice of hardware still in production, console and hand-held wise...in America no less, the only place the 360 even remotely has its hooks in...

and instead of just admitting that things may be in trouble, which they clearly are, you bring up software only now...I wonder if this will remain the case when the PS3 finally gets some 'games'...you guys used to say the PS3 would never outsell the 360...then it was never outsell the 360 in the US...both of which it did...You really think that the PS3 won't overtake the 360 in software sales as well?...if so, I have an awesome bridge in NYC for sale...check my ebay listing...
