New SOCOM 3 and SOCOM CA map pack released... for free

All eyes may be on the upcoming online only SOCOM Confrontation for the Playstation 3, but that doesn't mean that the SOCOM developers have completely forgotten about their PS2 fan base.

The team just announced the release of a new downloadable map pack for SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault. This third downloadable map pack includes SOCOM and SOCOM II maps Crossroads, Fishhook, Frostfire and Guidance.

I see this a sweetener to current PS2 owners. This may reinvigorate their interest in SOCOM, and with the impending release of Confrontation on the PS3 thats another nice reason to make that step up.

Socom series on PS2 was one of the greatest online experiences of my life ever... met so many people within that game.

i'm getting this map pack and IM'ing some old friends =)

anybody know if i can go online on Socom with my PS3?

You should be able to no problem. Just have to make a new network configuration in the Socom game.

hard to update maps when you have a system with no real hard drive or place to dl it from. The ps3 gave them the chance to and im glad they feel that their fans are still very important to them.

Where the f**k is Foxhunt!!!!? That map had more dedicated players/clans than Fish Hook, Guidance, and Frostfire combined. WTH? I shouldn't be complaining because I still like those maps and the good thing its free. I'll gladly pay for Foxhunt though.
