Lost Planet Colonies Finally Announced PC/360 Only

Kotaku Writes:

Capcom (may) have, via leaked mag scans, had the wraps taken off Lost Planet Colonies, the successor to snowy bug-killing simulator Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. What's new? There's a new playable character (that girl in snow gear) and in online play you'll get the option of playing as the bugs against the humans. That online play will feature cross-platform play between PCs and 360s. There's all-new weapons and all-new monsters to fight (including their eggs), and it'll be out in Japan on May 29. Oh, and no word of a PS3 release as of yet. Bear in mind: all this info comes courtesy of a leaked magazine scan that's been...modified to include super-awesome Xbox Japan boss Takashi Sensui, so until we get some more concrete info, take it all with a grain of salt.

True, but there's only 2 Capcom game's i want this year (RE5, SF4), ok I'm interested in a few others (bionic commando and the like) but not releasing Lost Planet Colonies on the PS3 wont lose them a penny from me, I personally dont care for this game.

I'm not interested in this game either. But if people were going to buy the PS3 version of this game they won't now being they can't get the expansion. What is the use? Get the X360/PC version to get the expansion.

be making their decision based off of LP1 sales on the PS3. The game is garbage though. I've heard many xbox fans say this when the game was announced for the PS3. I also heard many PS3 fans say the same thing. The way I look at it, who cares ... I mean really ... there are plenty of exclusive titles coming to the PS3 this year. Who cares about LP2?

I didn't think Lost Planet was a really bad game. It was just something to play and pass time while waiting for top tier games (filler title). It was very vibrant and it had some really good visuals but ho hum game play. It was one of those games that I was just hoping would end so I could say I got my moneys worth from it.

Online it was boring.

The only games I am looking forward to from Capcom are RE5 and SFIV.

for me to care that its not coming to the ps3 if the article is true. Their selling it for £25 quid in some UK shops and I still didn't budge. When I first saw it though I was annoyed a little but the ps3 wasn't out so I was kool. Its not a crap game, far from it I just feel it missed a trick

I think your getting this game confused with dead rising. In any event lost planet was a decent game, and if this does go to PC/360 only that's only because ps3 owners dissed the 1st game, and in my mind I think it was dissed simply because it came out on 360 first. The game is by no means a system a seller, but when the game was announced on this site for the ps3 I remeber reading some of the post for the Lost Planet and before it even came to ps3 it was crucified as being a bad game/360 hand me down.....

I personally like the game. It was difficult, the single player had beautiful graphics, and massive boss battles. It was an ode to the old action games of yore. I liked the old school play, simple in it's execution, but satisfying.

Just about everyone that actually wanted to play the first game already bought it on the 360 last year. I think its hard to keep demand up for a game when its console releases are about a year apart from each other. Kind of like when Metal Gear Solid 2 finally came out for the original Xbox, I don't think people didn't buy it because they didn't want it, but mainly because they arlready played it on the PS2. If this game isn't released on the PS3 at the same time as the other two, then there probably won't be much of a reason to even consider to release it later. Even the big games can suffer on a platform when you wait so long to release it.

how many people here finished it on Hard ?

it was one of the most challenging games i have played.

everyone has is opinion, i am really not sure why so many people didn't like it. i still think it is one of the better looking games and can think of much worse looking games.

multiplayer was fun, not competitive like halo or cod4, but really good fun.....until you played the Japs, then it became frustrating !

I like it. I didn't even think they'll release a PS3 version in the first place. Following some arguments here, that would not have made sense at all. But, hey they did, and so I can enjoy it now. I hope the same will be true for the sequel.

Gameplay is kinda "Capcom", IMO. Medicore difficulty throughout the level until you hit the boss. And that's pretty hard, then. Actually hard enough that I didn't waste a minute thinking about the hard mode. But nice atmosphere, visuals and sound. A pity they don't use the DMC4 engine (I guess not). Is not as fluid as that one, but still pretty and IMO one of the better ones out there.

i finished it on hard and i would put it up there with NG in terms of difficulty.

just try getting past the first boss.... every stage, left me thinking they could not make it any harder...then it got harder.

when i got that achievement i was getting messages from everyone i played with online asking how i got it. Bragging rights feel good.

i hope this is a real sequel with a full single player. i enjoyed it way more then DMC4.

As someone said below though they should be thinking of the sequel to Dead rising first.

is it just me or does anyone else think Capcom know how to make great games, really difficult, but they never seem to get the controls right.

DMC4, Dead rising, all have really odd controls. LP had ok controls, but still a bit frustrating....

the title is so messed up. It's says that there is no ps3 version, but no one has confimed it yet. I hope capcom isn't falling down in ranks, nobody wanted a lost planet sequel, but a dead rising or resident evil. They really have to ante up here, because lots of good games have come out since then.

I remember getting the Demo on LIVE and showed it to all my friends because at that time, it looked awesome and was fun to play. I ended up buying the game, and actually just got bored with the same stuff, run and shoot, over and over again.

Now bring on the sequal to Dead Rising .... that was definitely a fun, different, and replayable game. (except for the freakin save feauture...Grrrr)

I'm so sick of the fan-boyish antics with slamming one console over the other! Well now we resort to slamming games that are not announced for our consoles, when it is quit possible the title is in the works for PS3, but no announcements have been made. Wait and see people!

I personally thought Lost Planet was a great game! I've only played the Xbox 360 version thou. I mean the PS3 version came out a year later and I've already beaten the game not to mention own a copy for the 360. There is no reason to buy the PS3 version, but find it hard to believe the game could be that bad of a port!

Bottom-line people competition is good for us consumers. If there was no competition you might be paying upwards of $1000.00 for that game console and upwards of $100.00 per game! Think about it before posting your meaningless comments? I choose to support both PS3 and Xbox 360 and I'm looking forward to playing all the great games on each of them! I'm also looking forward to playing Lost Planet Colonies. Enough said

One small problem in your theorie. Lost Planet sold well on the 360. It sold sh!t on the PS3.

It could be a business descision that the IP fits better on the 360 and the PS3 can be left out because of that.

Gears IS console exclusive and Microsoft platform exclusive (PC). MS decides how the IP is brought to customers. It's money either way for them.

Mass Effect: see above
Ninja Gaiden... You got a 2 to 3 year old remake of a game. Ninja Gaiden 2 is exclusive on the 360.

So how do you view:

DMC once a Playstation exclusive?
Ace Combat once a Playstation exclusive?
Virtua Fighter, GTA, you name those big names?

DS/handheld totally other story, it doesn't compete with homeconsoles. Heck MS even did it themselves with Viva Piniata to the DS. I don't see any competition problems with the 360 version there.

MS benefits from sales from games. On PC, on 360. Your comment is totally useless. BTW God of War is on my handheld PSP, is that a threath for God of War on the PS2 or the futured sequel on the PS3?

RIGHT MICROSOFT with its Game studios. They get money from every sale on PC or 360.

It doesn't matter if a game goes from one brand console to a handheld. The handheld ain't competition for the console period. And as long as Microsoft gets money for it, and might even get people that play for example Viva Piniata on the DS to buy a 360 for Viva Piniata on their console, then they get more money!

Ninja Gaiden was an Xbox exclusive not a 360 exclusive, Ninja Gaiden 2 is an Xbox 360 exclusive. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a 2005 port of Ninja Gaiden Xbox. Get your facts right before speaking.
