Brawl is everything that makes Nintendo culture great: the characters, the humour, the heritage. Want to show someone why you've stuck by Ninty all these years? Show them a portly plumber chasing a green dinosaur with a massive hammer.

But Brawl also represents Nintendo as a company. Returning to your stock franchises guarantees games a heritage like no other; likewise it shackles you to old ways. Brawl is sublimely tuned and inexhaustible in its attempts to make you happy, but it's not new. But this is by no means the end of the world. Sakurai is saving his masterpiece for that one.

I don't understand why the rating is so low....Did he state that Smash Bros. never evolved...Since when were people complaining that Smash Bros is getting too familiar...That's what makes Smash Bros amazing, you keep expanding on a formula that works and by doing this previous owners are free to jump in to an enhanced experience.
I hope this game doesn't turn out to be like a Mortal Kombat....hmmmm

Probably. Famitsu gave it a perfect 40/40 and those are really hard to come by. IGN already stated that they won't be giving it a 10, though.

For any other game rated with a bunch of 10s people automatically call a work and "OMG NO GAME DESERVES A 10 THIS GAME HAS FLAWS THESE PEOPLE WERE PAID BY BUNGIE ETC". People are quite hypocritical.

what i'm trying to say is...if some websites claim some game is the game of the year....doesn't mean this would count for everyone...
personal opinion/preference...will play a huge roll too you know.

Sidar i am not saying it isn't going to be game of the year i am just saying that there are 9 months left in this year so it is a little early to call it the best game of 08 without having played all that 08 has to offer.

I dont actually care what the scores are. Im interested to read reviews only to gather peoples opinions. I dont need scores to tell me Ill lvoe this game, its melee made all around better. Though I agree with someone in the open zone that said someones bound to give it a low score to get hits on their site.

Id be happy if the game didnt receive anything under a 9 only because I know a lot of work and love went into this game and it really does show. Would be nice for the people that worked on the game who obiviously really liked the series to take pride that they put out a great game. Though I guess fans will do this more then reviewers.

Read the review and you will see flaws to it.

"It's the lack of sizeable or 'concept' arenas that irks - like Melee's rotating Brinstar Depths or the Big Blue."

That's bs there are plenty of new unique stages, not to mention Big Blue is in the game makes me wonder if he even played much of it. If he doesn't like the stages then he should make his own.

"Wi-Fi has so far eluded us; the humble Wii throwing a fit every time we try to squeeze a Japanese link-up through the USB dongle. We managed to boot up the spectator mode - where you watch another online game and bet on the outcome - but were put off when our 'sure thing' Samus got well and truly pwned by Olimar. What a gyp."

What the heck, why don't you stop watching other people play and play it yourself then.

"Signature moves aside, it's hard to see where Dedede differs from Bowser, and if Link, Ike and Pit weren't programmed by the same guy, we'll eat our sword flurry."

... I can't take him seriously now.

At least he wasn't one of those people who gives it a low score just for shock value so people will go to the site like i've seen with other games like Halo 3.
