Still going to be differences in what the two companies will be able to boast.

The differences will be in every TV ad, in every shop, on the more than likely bundles boxes, on shop windows.

It will get the same amount of hype as the game releasing on day one for 360 too.

GTA4 is multiplatform but msoft has arguably more riding on GTA4 than sony does. It will sell well on both systems and will push game sales on both systems but msoft will be pushing it harder than sony will. After GTA4 what major game can msoft put weight behind considering their weak exclusive line up. Multiplatform line up this yr is very strong so msoft went be too hurt but both companies can't afford to drop the ball. they need to keep fighting for my dollars

well however you want to call it i personally dnt think ps3's line up is that hyped only mgs4, killzone 2 and resistance 2 are hyped right now underneath you still have infamous, gt5, socom, tekken 6, white knight chronicles, LBP and a host of other exclusives that arent so hyped. I dnt mean to count but as far as 360 games expected for 08 and ps3 games expected for 08 i think ps3 not only leads in quantity but in quality. But it will always be a matter of opinion. Hype isnt something that companies build up its sumthin gamers build up. If 360 games arent getting hype its because of general lack of interest by the gaming media and general gamers. Don't make it seem like its someone's fault that 360 games arent hyped.

What makes you think otherwise? Sony doesnt pay to advertise 3rd party titles. The industry just doesnt work that way.

When you see that series of "exploding black consoles" the ones with that garrish rock music, what titles do they advertise? That's right, its all first party titles.

obviously both systems need to stock up but 360 is the one with the supply issues. PS3 cannot afford to be sellin out nothing more irritating to want to buy a ps3 and its sold out. PS3 needs all the momentum it can get

i have a PS3 and i dont care about "GT7." Thats way too far in the future and off-topic to how it will affect March-April console sales. In my honest opinion, i don't think it will push much hardware sales as people believe, because the consumers who loved the GTA series are most likely to already own a ps3 or xbox.

Very simple, clear and not excited at all. He's saying MS wants to align themselves as well as they can.

That is why they are running the pre-order contest and why they've struck a deal with Rockstar to bring the exclusive complete GTAIV experience only to Xbox 360.

They arent putting "too much" stock into GTAIV. They have plenty more powder-in-their-keg, dont worry about it. There are vastly more exclusive Xbox 360 games that I'd like to play, but I know I wont have the time...

No Xbox 360 owner is worried about 2008. Dont you worry for no reason.

since when did downloadable content make a game complete. Imagine if you played a game and the final boss was missing and only placed there as downloadable content. We don't knw what the extra content will be yet but i doubt its going to make the game complete. It will simply jst be extra content that less than 1/4 of the ppl who buy GTA4 end up paying for.

Wageslave they arent putting to much stock into it? What exactly do you call $50 million. Thats probably more then it cost rockstar to make the game. Im surprised that through that deal that microsoft didnt convince rockstar to can the ps3 version. Regardless microsoft is putting too much anticipation behind this game... I think that this game will help microsoft more the sony but not by much... I think microsoft is making a mistake by pushing this too hard but april 29th and the ensuing weeks will tell all....

I just wanted to add that extra Downloadable content usally means extra $10-20. So if you want the limited edition which already cost 90$,look foward to pay over $100 for a game. By the time the "DLC" is used up by the xbox installbase, i believe they will also release the same content on the PSN (3months) but i could definetly be wrong.

As for the pre-order contest, i wouldnt doubt xbox will win because they already have a higher installbase. So that statement is more rhetorical than informative.

How do you know PoG??? Oh yeah you don't. You know only what the rest of us know, that they claim it, that and what is available in YOUR city is pretty much the extent to your knowledge base on the topic. I can find X360's in my city all over the place, granted only saw a few Elite SKUs, but the funny thing is you don't hear Sony saying "PS3 80Gb is suffering shortages" even though its been on the internet from Best Buy, Gamestop, and Wal-Mart that they are showing it as discontinued. I know that in my city I can't find an 80Gb system anywhere and haven't been able to for a few weeks now.

I don't care either way but I love how you only claim the things that benefit you instead of stating both sides.

In my opinion Microsoft is really screwing this up. Quite frankly if little Johnny and his mom walk in to their local bestbuy and there's no 360's then they gonna pick up a Ps3.

There's something really fishy going on. As alanjp25 stated in the forums amazon are listing all 360 SKU's as being discontinued.
WTF is going on? If they are introducing a new SKU this isn't the right way to go about it. There should be a phasing out period. Expect something at GDC.

Whenever I am in a store that sells the Xbox 360, I always go and check the supply of Xbox 360 Elite. And, in about 75% of the time they are out of stock on the Elite. And sometimes, only the Arcade is available (much less frequently, but it does happen).

So, why buy Nintendos line but not MS?

Nintendo is selling millions per month world wide. Yes I believe Nintendo's story but honestly I did not at first. Nintendo said this all along they couldn't match the demand for their system.

Microsoft on the other hand never had a supply issue until the month that Sony outsells them? I will agree with you on the Elites. It not that are being sold out so fast...retailers aren't even getting them from Microsoft. Rumor has it they are coming out with a new sku. I'll wait and see on the elites as this has been going on for about 2 months with that sku.

- If you wish to disagree. Can you post an article that states 360s were in short supply prior to the January's NPD number were posted? I will retract all posts made on this topic.

to keep interest high. They also strongarm retailers by trying to get them to push DS sales in order to get more WIIs. 360s haven't been shipping in the same quantities as they were previously. Now whether that's because of holiday sales or because they are stocking up for April is another matter. Either way, they aren't coming in as steadily.

very well said kyur 4 pain this power of green guy is campaigning to me msoft public relations or something. Maybe he is and he is sent in here for n4g damage control who knows. I own both systems and i do try not to pick sides or be a fanboy but if i had to ride with one system i would have to go with playstation based solely on franchises. Only fanchise msoft owns now that i really like is gears of war. I may or may not sell my 360 this yr depends on how well i manage my cash hopefully i dnt so i can continue to enjoy games across both platforms.

-It is an Oppotunity to "steal" some "market-share" from a game that is very infamous with the PS2, because the biggest GTA sellers where on the platform, that held over 100 million Hardware sold.

Nothing less, Nothing more. Should you fault MS, Hells No!! This is business, now should you go ahead and doubt, feel threatened and bash the 360, well go right ahead, that is nothing new. Fanboys will do what they been doing since Nov 2005.

Both console manufacturers have a healthy install-base where this game is king(well Sony somewhat), so we will see pretty good sales, it's just this time around Sony is not on top with the "user-base", but this game might really help it sell more Hardware in NA and Europe, where it has been So so....

We all know Japan don't play no "Grand theft Auto", so don't expect big numbers there. I just don't understand when MS has a strategy to try to gain some Share, fanboys get always get uptight? Get the game for you console and let this thing play out.

That's the only Control gamers and fanboys have.

Since when is cos M$ said so "proof". Remember how many they said they sold last Christmas. They stuff so much into retailers they couldn't sell it for months and had to cut shipments. Besides I dont give a rats if its true or not, Sony outsold them worldwide for 3 months and kept up. M$ falling behind just shows their ineptitude. They act like they're selling Wiis.
