PSP Firmware 3.90 Released, Skype Is Here

A new PSP firmware has appeared on Network Update. Firmware 3.90 includes the following changes:

* Support for PLAYSTATION Network titles has been expanded.
* Skype has been added as a feature under Network.

Do note that the Skype feature is exclusive to PSP Slim units.

Great news. I plan to pick up a slm/lite very soon as I am currently a owner of the old models. I just wish they would tell us more about the Keyboard support though.

Also I hope the next update has the rumored divx support and will also have some sort of Home/PSN integration. That would be awesome.

OK, I made the update, but no Skype (I do have the slim). I even did a search in the Online Istruction Manual (which clearly states that it's the 3.90 version) and came up empty.

I have the same issue. 3.90 installed but no SKYPE under network yet. Have we missed something? I have a PSP 2000 slim bought in Hong Kong.

Wasted update for those who have a fatty.

As for expanding the list of titles, there may actually be a point when SCEE actually release any PS1 titles, so far the choices are very slim and quite poor.

psp slims are only $200 with a great bundle deal compared to when the phatty was released....plus you can get the core for like $160 and this is for the brand new ones. We can afford to trade in are old psp and a few ps2/psp games to get the slim or to toss in a lil money to help make up the difference...that's what i did and feel it was a smart move seein as i figured that since it already has features the fatty didnt have(tv connection) so i was pretty sure the updates would soon do more things the phatty couldnt do so i got one as soon as possible, plus i had just got a ps3 and was left with a bunch of ps2 games i didnt play either b/c i was sol without my ps2 memory card or i was planning on gettin the next gen versions anyway. But i understand everyone doesnt have access to games or money to get one...i was just suggesting and trying to help out...btw, silver has the best bundle with the most stuff....not sure if the white is worth it b/c idk how good the star wars game that comes with it is

It's almost 11am here in NY and the update isnt even on playstation.com...seems like they've been slow on updating their website on various things...well this is the reason why i joined N4G and no other gaming website, because you guys are always on top of stuff and its not just for hardcore gamers that just want the next trailer or pics for a game, its a good place to chill and get some decent news.

sony can make this work for original users by creating a virtual memory system on the mem stick. Personally I would like them to do that so pages in the web browser stop getting the out of memory error. I dont mind sacrificing 128mb of my memory stick if it would improve the loading of games, web pages and adding this skype feature (which I may never use). I'd also like to see them add WMV support because I want to take the portable version of Family Guy Blue Harvest on the road with me.
