HAZE: Free Radical & Ubisoft Speak on Delay

onAXIS: "If you haven't heard, HAZE was delayed for the around sixth time a few days back.

The head of the HAZE game project spoke on the delay.

"It's not something we do lightly. Everyone at FRD and Ubisoft is more than aware of the fans on here and how patiently people have waited for the game and we would like nothing more to put out the finished game right now.

"But that's the thing of it - the game isn't finished. There's still some things we'd like to polish and refine, and while it may seem like we're ignoring you guys by delaying it, it's precisely *because* of you guys that the delay has happened - because we want to make sure the game is as good as it can be when you finally get your hands on it."

They confirmed that HAZE still remains an exclusive to the PLAYSTATION 3 as well.

"A Ubisoft rep has denied the game will be heading to any other platform, reaffirming that HAZE remains a PlayStation 3 exclusive - when it will actually hit stores is still to be announced.""

I waited too long for this game. I just cancel my preorder of this game, and put it toward Resistance 2. But I hope the make a hell of a game, and I hope many individuals will enjoy it. I might change my mind once it is release.

1.2 - I have to agree with you on that...

I too have canceled my pre-order and have decided to go with Killzone 2, so I'm done with this game, but I really doubt the reason for the delay was for them to make the game better, more likely they just ran into a coding problem, because what can you really do with this limited amount of time that would really make the game that much better.

But I hope your right and they make a good game for People to enjoy. I am now looking forward to these, and I don't think I have room for anything else,

I'm getting it for PS3 because it most likely will have superior lighting and textures as well as no framerate problems. I think that Rockstar are amazing developers and can code for the PS3 easily to make it as good as or better than the 360 version (kind of what they did with Call of Duty 4 and Burnout(Both really good developers)).

I'm going with PS3 for GTAIV because I have always played GTA 3 vice city and san andreas on PS2 so just staying loyal to the playing experience I've always known. I'm use to the control feel and stuff on PS2 so just thought might as well stay with PS3.

I played GTA 3 when they brought it over to xbox but I just didn't like the feel of it.

And while I'm sure they will improve all that and it will be great on both systems, I'm going to lean towards PS3 because of the way they do lighting and texture, if done right it really does look amazing on my HD plasma.

And I'm not worried about the extra content as I have yet to finish a GTA game all the way though.... I get half way and then the game just turns into seeing how long I can run people over in my car and not get caught by police... LoL

(which reminds me I still haven't finished GTA San-andreas)

this game could have filled a gap between people burned out on COD4 and the time before RFOM2 and KZ2 hit. sad to see they're trying to put extra effort into it and it has to compete with such huge titles in the future. maybe a sleeper hit?

This generation more than previous generations has fostered an unreasonable sense of entitlement among "gamers". I don't know how large of a part age plays, but I've noticed everything has to be "NOW! NOW! NOW!" with fans these days.

Wow. A delay! Imagine that! Y'know, crap happens.

I think this spoiled attitude is just a by-product of the by-the-minute nature of the internet media. Ever notice how a lot of stories start in the morning based on a misquote, misinterpretation, rumor, or flat-out lie, and then progress into a wildfire of speculation, only to be corrected or discounted before dinnertime? Then, the fall out lasts when the kids get home from school, or people catch up with the news after dinner, and it all starts again until people read the latest update and it fizzles before the next one starts again after tomorrow's breakfast.

Sure, it's great for pageviews, advertising, and obsessive comment posters, but seriously, is this good for gaming in general? Excitement is good, but this virtual greediness is a bit disconcerting.

Dude, you totally right, because we have sites giving us minute by miunte info on everything we have no concept of 'wait'.

I would rather wait and get a great bug free experience than another AC, which was a good game but needed more time and a little less Jade (well thats dumb... I mean we ALL need more Jade, just in less clothing and distracting us whilst the game was y'know subpar)

Anyhoos Yeah i vote for the Wait, it will be here when its ready, and if yopu have to wait... well go out and get a girl for a few months *gasp* it IS possible.

Resistance 2 definitely! I'm a little unsure of KZ2 as of yet. The first was a bit of a disappointment but we shall see. As for HAZE, I'm still interested but it was never a buy so the wait is trivial at best. Sounds like an interesting idea but so did Timeshift, Turok, Area 51, Stranglehold, etc... You get the picture. I hope Ubisoft proves me wrong!

Because of this delay, I'm not so sure about Haze. It looks like Resistance 2 will be the best. Killzone 2 looks fun, but the colour palette is just not as vast as the palette in Resistance 2 even with Full RGB and Super White on (I'm sorry, but I like my games to "pop" a bit if you know what I mean).

I've never been really hyped for this game since I didn't want to disappoint myself if it didnt turn out good, but I'm definitely curious on how it'll turn out once it's all finished. I really feel that Ubi have dropped the ball with HAZE. They want to make sure that the game is everything it can be and for that they should be applauded however, the longer it is delayed the closer it gets to clashing with MGS4, GTA4, Killzone2 etc.

Now they have shown me nothing so far that makes me want to put HAZE above some of the games i have mentioned on my wanted list and simply put it wont be a must buy for me should it not come before April. If they release this game in Jan-Mar time I might feel different.

If it's a better game overall in the end I'm all for the delay. Many games could use a delay to make things better. But with other FPS like Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 coming this year Haze most likely will get overshadowed when it releases.

anyway Ubi and FRD have got some serious work to do to get the hype back for this game... a gameplay demo at E3, a PSN demo and another trailer or something will be sure to do the trick

i dont know about you guys, but my pre-order still stands, i haven't lost faith in haze because of some delay..... in fact i think the delay is good- if haze isn't turns out to be crap then i will be seriously dissapointed so if they haven't finished the game- they can take their time as far as im concerned

You guys are all looking at this backwards. Yes its frustrating but it proves FRD dont rush out unfinished games like EA or Ubisoft. I bet you they're on their backs to hurry.

Maybe if others had this work ethic there wouldn't be so many buggy, glitch half finished games out these days. It'll be done, when its done, and when it is it will be the best they can make it, like all their games.

That is true. The thing is, developers shouldn't announce a release date until a month before they are about to hit gold. That way, they can avoid all this negative publicity. However, while they are trying to make a quality product. I feel that all the hype for this game has practically evaporated. MGS4 is the big thing this year for PS3 owners and Haze may be swept under the rug because of that.

They're probably looking at some of the games that are getting released on PS3 this year and realize their product isn't quite up to standard yet. If Haze is supposed to be in the same AAA league as a Resistance 2 then they have some more work to do.

COD4 should keep me busy for a couple of more months,and I will be picking up both Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 later on this year,but I REALLY want to play Haze,it just looks and sounds like so much fun,please use your time wisely free radical and improve the game so that when its finally released more people will be interested and buy it,Haze can possibly turn into a system seller;)

well...seeing as by far the 2 most anticipated shooters of 2008 are 1st party PS3 exclusives...wouldn't it make sense for any "hardcore shooter fan" to simply own a PS3 this year?...and then get Haze for the system it was lead on?...

if you fit the description of what you just said...there is absolutely no reason that you won't own a PS3 by the end of 2008...unless of course...you are a d'bag 360 fanboy that still thinks the "best" shooters will only come to that system...
