and yeah, Toughname you were already told about how UT3 has game 'invites'...but you weren't told that they do absolutely nothing...you get a message "so and so has invited you to a game"...ha...and thats it...you can then find his name on your list and 'follow player'...or back track all the way to the main menu...go to community...go to friends...and "look" at the invite he sent you...but as far as I can tell it still doesn't do anything...

when you recieve the message though, its not like it says accept or deny...it just tells you you are welcome to join him...which seems redundant, because you could do that anyway...

its CoD 4 that needs the invites...UT3 has it under control...sort of...you can join them through the friends list, just like Warhawk...

Yes, I compare the online experiences of Halo 3 and COD 4. What's wrong with that? I think they are both great games with their own ups and downs (although I prefer COD 4 on a personal note). The Halo community is great, with options to share your replays and create and share levels in the forge.

COD4 is very realistic and demands lots of skill. Have you tried the 'noob-tube'? It let's noobs kill skilled veteran players using the grenade launcher. Very balanced indeed... ;)

to be honest 360 gaming seems more expensive, trust me iv been there, n my ps3 cost me less overall cuz of the less peices of kit i bought was already built in, apart from the headset, i didnt buy that as i just found bluetooth headset lying around.

Why did you have to go and say that? Now I have to be made to look like I am bashing a game I love (resistance). You obviously have not played halo3. I am not saying it is a better game or a good game or anything like that but online feature wise it is the king of this gen AT THIS POINT. I have spent hours with both and it is not even close. Again this is not to say halo is more enjoyable or anything like that, I am just saying it has way more online features and the party system has yet to be copied or beaten. well there are already several guys in the community making full blown halo and gears mutators...Gears will actually be easy to mimick, gameplay wise that is (they are not able to fully convert all the sound over yet though, and proprietary voice acting like that brings in a lot of legal issues)...

and for halo some kid is slowling everything down, created a melee animation for several weapons, limits amount you can carry, and adds a reload function as well...that combined with more halo maps...and you have something similar to the gameplay overall...

however one user said it best in regard to turning UT3 into halo "that is like having a delicious chocolate cake, and then putting mustard flavored icing on it...just because you can"...the gears mod should be cool though...Gears pacing and squad stuff with 16 players instead of 8...the 3rd person cam works great (although some complaints that some skins take up too much of the screen), and with a rumored over the shoulder zoom update coming this week, as well as the infamous shaky cam sprint...will be pretty cool to see where things go...

its worth noting that everything I just mentioned is in regards to multiplayer only...no one is trying to make a gears single player mod that I know of...its just pretty elaborate mods to the standard multiplayer modes...just pointing out that there most definitely will be pretty accurate mimmicks of existing games coming fairly soon...

The only people that i have met that are impressed with UT3 are people who didnt play UT and UT 2004. It is a fun game but it even has the exact same guns as 04. Before some idiot who has never played halo jumps on that comment, they have added tons of new guns with each halo game. I can only flak gun so many people in my life before it gets old. Why exactly do we still have to switch to the impact hammer again? I thought halo paved the way for a melee button in 01. Resistance and every other game has copied this feature why not ut3 (resistance also copied the regen health system and final battle to blow up the core by shooting 4 pylons) Ohh yeah because it is still too busy copying doom. UT is fun don’t get me wrong but anyone talking about halo being more of the same in a convo about UT3 just shows how little they know about video game history.

Its a little ignorant to say that "only people that never played UT/04 are impressed with UT3"...

some of us like the back to twitch gameplay...some of us like no melee...some of us like the same core gameplay that we grew up on, back when it was the only good online experience available...and even a few of us still like picking up health packs...few things in gaming compare to going on a killing spree, and the intensity you feel knowing you have been under 20% health for the past 4 kills...

I have been an avid Unreal fan since the first game launched not longer after Quake 2...and I wouldn't take an UT labeled game any other way than how we got it...and its even more refreshing to have that speed and intensity on a console...only other port to a console like this that was even close was Quake III on the DC...which, while having a slim fanbase nowadays, is still regarded as one of the best console shooters ever...and definitely one of the best PC ports gameplay wise...

while I do agree that the switching to the impact hammer, then charging it, then gibbing a dude is a good bit of work for a rewarding close range kill...it makes them more rare, and more humiliating if you are stupid enough to let it happen to you...thats how it should be...I knife so many people in CoD 4 that it has totally lost that "the dude I just stabbed should just go kill himself" feeling that you get after splattering a guy all over your screen with an impact hammer...

I can take a far amount of slow realistic gameplay just like the next guy...but the sit back and just bum rush attitude of UT remains in tact with UT3...its back to actually learning where the best powerups are...controlling the map and getting the best weapons is where its at...its not a slow everything down...and make everyone more or less equally powerfull in UT3...games like that can very quickly turn into "who sees who first"...

the core gameplay mechanics of UT3 are what totally get rid of the annoying modern online gimmicks...there is no more laying down in a corner and taking pot shots at people...no camping...no "well my screen is red so I will just hid for a minute"...it makes every player much more aggressive...you die so much in the game, it doesn't matter...its just spawn and start shooting...always...I personally love that...and wouldn't take a UT game any other way...

don't get me wrong...i still love the modern shooter mechanics too, and they were/are welcome changes...just pointing out that there is still plenty of room for the back to basics gameplay of UT3...for a lot of us...and UT3 still has some issues that need addressed, particularly some more warfare maps that are not as big...as well as adding a not glitched open mic support option (although I haven't gotten a mic to work yet in that game)...

but because each halo game gets new weapons, it makes it like a new experience each time around?...ha...no...Halo 3 and UT3 are similar in that regard...H3 added some cool online features, but hardly broke new ground in the gameplay department...if all it takes to totally reinvent the gameplay is new weapons, there are already more weapon mods in the pipeline for UT3 than every released weapon in Halo combined...new weapons can be great...but if the guns are already great and balanced, why change that?...

the overall point of my argument is simply this...halo pioneered what a console fps could be...the "epiphany" worked perfectly...but where Halo failed was in keeping up with its own competition...when halo 2 launched with online abilities...nothing on a console touched it...Halo 3?...not even close...console shooters online and otherwise have increased exponentially since then, and Halo 3 failed to deliver...UT3 easily stands against all twich pc shooters as one of the best...and halo 3 doesn't even stand as one of the top 5 online shooters of this year...more often than not, people still stuck on halo 3 being the best shooter on the market, clearly have yet to play or know about what else is available...

Kleptic you need to understand that my comments are not meant to say UT3 is not a fun game. It is and i like it. You are right about twitch pc shooters and kill streaks with 40% health. I was very let down by the game and i know lots of other were. The only people who seem to be going crazy about it are ps3 owners who are two young to have played the others. These people frustrate me because they are acting like ut3 is a new bag and it is not. These guys will call halo 3 more of the same and them priase ut3. Ut3 offers no evolution other than GFX. The jump still sucks, so does the hammer, so the bioriffle and yet none of this has been fixed. Halo 3 fixed many of the problems that h2 multiplayer had. just my 2 cents though

I don't own an ipod...I just have a SE walkman cell phone...if I hook the phone up via usb to the PS3, that is how I can copy music to the phone...but I usually just use the memory card slot instead, seems to be faster (I don't think the phone supports usb 2.0)...

ipods have all kinds of apple induced retardness though...the ps3 just uses standard mass storage profiles for devices like this...I can't remember if an ipod is fully supported for loading in both directions...

It seems as though all these HALO bashers are in glee over...a HALO map. To all you 100 something posters(not talking about the other 2% who are simply commenting on how they can create innovative stuff to share for free), look at your comments and see how big of a hypocrite you sound. I mean from Dark Sniper commenting like he's about to write a ps3 commerical to all the other idiots who said that Halo sucks this and Halo sucks that. I think its cool as heck for EPIC and SONY to allow gamers/programmers,like myself, to create FULL mods. If MS doesn't take heed then, gamers will defect, and MS will deserve all the backlash they get and market share they lose. I'm currently playing HALO 3, deciding to do so to avoid all the hype and closely read the opinions of all the sensible 360 and ps3 fans as well as the dumb a$$ "Its not on my system" fanatics. I must admit, at the first level of HALO 3 was nice but nothing to really write home about. But, man...when I got passed the first level, I'm on the sand level now, the amount of crap going on and the sense of playing in a world that "bigger than you" is amazing. Its the atmospher that sets HALO apart from other FPS. I still like HALF LIFE alittle better(or do I?) but HALO is a tough act to beat. With that being said, as ironic as this sounds, HALO 3 also makes me want to play games like UNCHARTED and etc. I think that N4G is the best place for reviews. But the thing is you got to know how to understand it. See this is what you do, go to a thread where a game is being reviewed. Forget what the reviewer wrote, skip all the posts from the people who actually PLAYED the game and just jump right to all the negative comments from the fanatics of the opposing system. If that thread ends up being a hot 900+ thread you got yourself a AAA game.lol! I wrote all the crap to say, whether you like it or not, people are going to like what they wanna like so why bash it if you don't feel the same way about it. Just don't play it. I mean doesn't it hurt that much to...not play it?

THis Unreal mod is amazing this is just the start of an amazing open approach for SOny and EPic.

Unreal is finnally noticing that it will never be better than Halo 3 so they let you play the generic version on the blu ray movie player. Ps3 gamers should be ashamed of themselves, all the hatred against my beloved game and now listen to all the love. This is good for all gamers. It is pushing the boundries of console games w/ FREE user created mods and FREE user created maps. This is the level of consumerism that should be in all console games. Kudos to the developers and kudos to the modders. We should be rejoicing about this, not putting the console that we don't own down.
