Moonlighting in Slient Hill doesn't seem fun -- between the fogsoaked streets, twitching, faceless nurses, and the notoriously picky series fans, it's not a terribly inviting place for visitors. But the fearless folks at The Collective (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Marc Ecko's Getting Up) willingly spent several sleepless nights slaving away on a playable demo showcasing their vision for Silent Hill V, the first next-gen installment in Konami's nearly decade-old survival-horror franchise. All that caffeine paid off: Several other well-known development houses were in the running for the project, but none were dedicated (crazy?) enough to craft a prototype, so The Collective landed the sought-after gig.
The sirens are sounding again, beckoning you back to the foggy ghost town as we rank all the Silent Hill games, from the chilling classics to the misguided missteps.
I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.
Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.
silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.
for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.
No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.
Twinfinite: "They said it couldn't be done, be we've tried our best to rank all the monsters in Silent Hill according to their fear factor. Let's go!"
Pyramid Head is my #1 too, despite the fact you don't actually fight him much - and the few times you do are actually super easy. It's all in the presentation & close encounters.
I never thought the monsters themselves were very scary. It was the tension and the unknown, the silent moments that got under your skin that were the most scary to me.
Silent Hill has always been about the psychological horror more than it's gore.
Daily Video Game writes: "Xbox Store has just launched three new digital sales that offers steep discounts on various combat, family, and free to play games for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, including many Xbox 360 games right now!"
I had no idea Binary Domain was backwards compatible. I know what I'm downloading.
I would like El Shaddi, Afterburner Climax, and outrun 2 please. I am sure that there are other games as well but those came to mind for me right now.
REal time wounds the next level of graphic gfx !
I'm sorry but The Collective sucks and I'm a huge fan of this franchise. While the nurses do look sexier than ever I'm very disappointed in knowing who's responsible for the development of this latest installment.
Running around killing zombie women is sick. Graphics are awesome but still to sick for me.
Silent Hill has been one of, if not, THE scariest game created. Resident Evil had its moments, but kind of went downhill as far as truly "frightening, wake up in the middle of the night nightmare" type of disturbing imagery when compared to the SH series.
As far as the game being made by The Collective, well, I'll wait and see. I'm not going to pass judgement based on past records. Many game producers create 2 or 3 (or more) crap games, then suddenly bust out and do something amazing. Besides, so far, the screens and videos that I've seen have looked good, especially this far from release.
The one thing that kind of makes me nervous (with this and many other titles), is the pre-holiday projected release time. I hope they don't just shove it out the door for Christmas. I would rather see a delay to get it right.
i hope they dont make another one of those demented looking things, any1 remember pyramid head?
those things scared the eggman outta me
