Xbox LIVE Server Problems Cause Achievements To Disappear

Via Ripten:

"As if the recent Xbox Live issues hadn't caused enough problems, it now appears that you can actually lose an unlocked achievement as well. I've had a recent run-in with this disturbing occurrence, and as always, 1-800-4my-xbox's Max was there to help me out - and of course by help me out, I mean annoy me while I try to connect to a real person."

M$ should refund the money to those who pay for this crappy online service. really, I dont understand why so many people pay for live when it's actually not THAT good. PSN then comes into my mind, it is lag free and it is free so where is the justfication for the 60$/year for xbox live? could anybody of the xbox fans make a statement and tell me why they are letting themselves being ripped-off?

General Pinky5946d ago

your achievements will not go...it is all store on the hard drive...if anything happens to the severs and they fix it then you can upload it again...(it is more like just loging into xbox live)
and everything is back
so you sony fanboys can cut this talk and go back on the PS3..or wait no games...still waiting for the AAA games

chanto235946d ago

Whats going on with microsoft's xbox 360??!!...its bad news after bad news, it reminds me when the PS3 first came out and got all that negative publicity...but its really weird whats happening right now...i bet there is something more serious than "too many new player jamming the servers" going on and they are not telling the truth. Xbox live has been around like for 5 years and i've never heard of something remotely similar happening before...

gamesR4fun5946d ago

another lawsuit lol

pretty bad for a pay service imo but how many peeps really care about achievement points?

TheSadTruth5946d ago

Achievements are stored on your hard drive.. it doesn't matter if they roll back the servers.. if he lost his achievement it has nothing to do with Xbox Live AT ALL

...

If you google the guy:

http://www.google.com/searc...

You will see his only articles are Xbox 360 smear articles, so this might not even be true

Now anyways, before you little kids press disagree 400 times on my post, keep in mind glitches happen and who the hell cares about video game achievements enough to post an article about them? lmao

IntelligentAj5946d ago

Okay am I wrong or was Live the best online service until recently? I have lots of respect for Live but all i'm seeing are stories about live problems. What the hell is going on?

player9115946d ago

The problems is that so many people joined xbox live over the recent holidays that wasn't expected. They got slammed with too many requests at once and it started getting bad. It wasn't until Christmas morning when everyone got their 360's and live service.

While it hasn't been perfect since Christmas, it is still fully functional. Online gaming is lag free, voice chat is clear. It was bad for a few days where you couldn't do hardly anything, but it was only a few days and is expected after the holidays. Any network getting that many people signing up, logging on, and hammering servers at once will cause a negative effect.

The only problem that still lingers is the messanger, which is only used to chat with PC MSN clients (not other gamers). But this isn't a big deal anyway.

Most of the reviews and "news stories" are just Sony Fanboys making a mountain out of an anthill (over dramatizing it).

I just got done playing 3 hours of Halo 3 online and voice chatting. I didn't have a single problem and everyone had good signal.

How come people are disagreeing with guys that are saying achievements are stored on the hard drive. That is true, maybe this 360 owner was just having a blond moment :-P

EDIT: Ah cool, so it is on the hard drive and on live too. Maybe not such a blond moment for the user then.

iNcRiMiNaTi5945d ago

until u go online with the console. once u sign in, it goes through xbox live, i know this for a fact because i had my hard drive wiped and then recovered my gamertag from xbox live and had all my achievements still

travelguy2k5945d ago

People that have a core 360 cannot get Achievments. As the core has no HDD it obviously cannot store achievments, unless, like email this info is stored on the Microsoft servers.

Logical thinking says that achievments are stored on the 360. But the fact that there are 360's with no HDD say this cannot be true.

xbox live better be fucn free, soon it should anyway besides it being so lousy but.. loosing achievments they better be getting on the ball. cuz i dont think many around the world of the ppl that just spent the money for a live card is too happy about this crap

MrWonderful5946d ago

wtf is going on M$. did they get hacked or maybe its an inside job. better check those employee backgrounds real good

Twizlex5946d ago

That is so totally not good... not good at all... I'd even go so far as to say that's really bad.

Nostradavis5946d ago

I agree Twiz....this sucks for the people that bust their ass to get achievements. I would not want to have to do some of the things they make you do over again...

wil4hire5946d ago

This really keeps getting better and better.

Details of Multiple Cancelled Valve Projects Revealed, Including Half-Life 3

A new Half-Life making-of has revealed details about cancelled Valve projects, including Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, a Dark Souls-inspired RPG, and more.

moongrim1379d ago

kitano19471379d ago

Open world L4D game?

I'm curious

I'd love to see Zoe, Francis and Louis come back, or maybe Bill if they pretend the cross over with L4D2 never happened and they went North to Canada.

Knightofelemia1379d ago

Shame about L4D3 I would have bought that day one

FlyingFoxy1378d ago

Same, tho interestingly if you check the steam database page you can see L4D2 is being updated frequently, just not publicly, seems they are up to something.

Also we can look forward to B4B trailers etc soon so we have another game that might be similar.

MadLad1379d ago

Damn I want more Half-Life and L4D..
Half-Life would be less jarring if it didn't end on such a cliff hanger.

Hard to believe that was all the way back in 2007.

Fist4achin1379d ago (Edited 1379d ago )

Wow, great plans all flushed down the toilet. These probably would have all sold well too. A fan in me no more of valve.

Six Gaming Sequels We Desperately Need

B. Michael Logan writes: "Sometimes pressure from gamers has paid off when it comes to pushing game developers to grace our lives with sequels of games that we desperately need. However, we may never see sequels to game we’ve been demanding for years."

Not desperately. But I'd definitely take another Jet Set Radio.

SlagWolf1665d ago

I’d love a portal 3 but I don’t know where you’d go with it. The second one pretty much wrapped up every thing nicely.

AK911665d ago

Don't bother with Valve IPs anymore they don't make games anymore just focus on Steam.

TheOptimist1746d ago

The list just shows how pedestrian the taste of the general audience is.

Really depressing list across all platforms.
