Killzone 2 Demo Announced - before 2008?

In an exclusive interview conducted by Gamereactor during the Games Convention event last week in Germany, Killzone 2 developer has hintedd that, a demo for Killzone 2 is surely on it's way to the PSN store.

This will make for a nice Christmas present for Ps3 owners. Better yet, why dont they throw in the MGS4 demo a little earlier as well ?

There's no way they'll have a demo available before Christmas.

I believe at GC they were using massive developers machine to demo the game.

They still have alot of work to do to have a demo readied by years end.

Just expect a Beta around E3 2008. Then you won't be disappointed if no demo shows.

I'm pretty sure that's true, and sounds right too. I mean it's been a long tough road and it's still slow to go on MGS4, and in no way do they want a LAIR type catastrophy, so I'd say no here unless a 2009 release date is in the works.

A demo slows or shuts down forward progress to an extent, but it also does aleviate any potential out of the box problems.

I'd say do the demo and put off the realease until most all bugs are worked out.

I secretly thought Gears of war looked better than Killzone but after seeing this video, I think Killzone is the best looking game on a console. I am so impressed with the lighting in this game, even the glare coming from the Helgast's goggles looks awesome. I also love the animations when you shoot the enemies. I think the single player is going to be good but looking at this game I just feel that the multiplayer is going to be amazing. I can't wait to play this game.

Nowhere did the devs state there would a demo before 2008! Ter Heide just said he thinks a demo is mandatory "in this day and age". Obviously Killzone 2 will have a demo, but he didn't say when it would be up on the PS Store, let alone say it would be out before 2008.

If this is true then the game is on track for Feb 2008 schedule, and whats funny is that demo will get played more then any other game.

if a demo would be coming out this year, as i think Killzone 2 will be delayed to around winter 2008, so they can get it right. But we`ll see. A demo would be great though, so people can get their own hands on it, and see if they`ve managed to correct the mistakes from Killzone 1 and if it plays good. I would really want to get my hands on the multiplayer the most, as i`m sure the singleplayer will be great.

I liked the boss battles here. It should add some variation to the game (which was a problem with the original). Can`t wait to see what crazy bosses Guerilla can come up with.

But a demo as soon as possible would be great, because not only will gamers be able to try a possible 2GB level, they'll be able to give the devs good feedback about the pros and cons, allowing that GG can improve their game to the maximum (in attempt to achieve this legendary AAA status.) But since GG said that they already know what they have to implement in KZ2 to significantly enhance what was ZK1, they might bring the demo later that '07. But, it'll still be smart to bring it in maybe November or December of '07 if they think they got everything right. So, even if the demo ends up superseding what was the dissatisfying KZ1, than this way, sales might skyrocket from the very day this game is released.

Mutiplayer maps would not take up 2GB's on their own sa they would have to compress some of the textures and other stuff just do you don't have to download a massive file.

Also, the devs said that there was gonna be an online beta for Killzone 2. A demo I think not, would be nice though.

don't get me wrong, i'd *LOVE to see Killzone 2 running on my PS3 *THIS YEAR, but it won't kill me if it doesn't.

demos take *TIME to make, and they'd have to split their resources to work on the game, and the demo at the same time.

sure, they could probably go with an older build, but that could cause more harm than good if it's buggy and incomplete (just look at the Assassin's Creed glitch at E3, and the ridiculous backlash that game has received).

we'll get the demo when we get it, and we'll get the game when we get it.

thankfully, there's plenty of other quality exclusive and multi-player titles hitting that we should have our eye on in the meantime.

The last time I read something about Killzone 2 it was rumored too be at least summer/fall 2008. With some of their AAA planned games failing like lair/heavenly sword, both have issues that if they had more time they would of been completely different games. Lair with its control issues and heavenly sword with its short gameplay. Hell look at warhawk and tell me that it wasnt rushed out with no single player component too compete for the holidays.

You dont consider a 6-7 hour game a failure. It scored low for this reason alone. dont have too be a fanboy too point out problems but you got too be one too defend them. Honestly you even read my post or you just jumped at the part where i call these games failures. metacritic has it at 80%.

the demo has been played by everyone of the game sites and mags. and the devs said it weighs in at 2.5 gigs. with compression they can get it to 1.4gigs on the PSN. not only that the demo in pre alpha has yet to cross alpha. and both Fill and GG ensured us that the game drops between feb and march 08, a beta was said to be planned that means they can host a 1-2 month beta in december through january and close it 3 weeks before a near feb or march release. also they could drop the single player portion of the demo in Nov to give us a tas. because demo's are pretyy much beta test for single player games while most of the time now Betas or mostly for multiplayer portion, ala the COD4, warhawk and Halo3 Multiplayer betas that took place.

in all honesty if the game is to release in the next 6-8 months a beta could be released december and a beta could fall in january just be for what looks to be an end of febuary 08-early March 08 release.
