I could care less about Devil May Cry 4, but I do think it'll look slightly better on 360 jst because of Capcom's experience on the XBOX 360 with Lost Planet and Dead Rising. This is the first game they built on PS3, so they're still learning. Its possible that by the time Resident evil 5 releases it looks better on PS3, but right now, I'd say they're still getting used to the hardware.

Its the old demo of Ps3 compare to the new just finished demo of xbox. of course visually xbox should be better and even that is debateable, but as the article pertains the control on xbox dont feel right. to me thats more alarming than the old demo version graphics .

At one point fanboys say graphics aren't everything - now graphics are everything - with DMC4 just because some punk says the 360 version looks a little better (his opinion) - now all of a sudden gameplay is more important. the ability to turn 1's into 0's and vice versa is THE HEART of software games. That being said the only way a processor is better for gaming is in how fast and how many 1's and 0's it can process.

360 = 3 off the shelf Power PC cores running at 3.2ghz each

PS3 = 1 PPU and 6 SPU's running at 3.2ghz each

Capcom is more familiar with 360 but DMC was born on the Playstation so of course its going to have bad controls on the 360. Its like playing Ninja Gaiden on the ps3 it didn't feel right for a while. where are you getting it was a "PC" engine...It was announced as a PS3 only title in 2005, then went multiplatform in like March of this year...and Capcom said countlessly that it was a PS3 game first and foremost, and that neither the PC or 360 version would "hurt" the PS3's development...Similar things have been said about MGS4 and FFXIII, the latter two of which have remained exlusive for the time being...

The mentioned games, along with burnout paradise, are more or less the first 4 games that have been built on the PS3 first from the beginning, then started on other platforms...and there in have the ability to illustrate if this makes a difference graphically for a mulitplatform game...we all know what happens when a company starts on the 360 for the most part...and when a company has two seperate teams work on the two platforms (like The Darkness), there is nearly no difference at all (albeit neither platform really gets pushed that hard)...

I know i will get tons of disagrees but IMO there are certain games that dnt feel right on the 360 controller. DMC may or may not be one of them but games like pro evolution didnt feel right for me i wanted to use the dpad to play that but because of the webbed d pad or wateva its called it affected my ball control. Also the trigger buttons felt wierd when used to change ppls. Also typical fighting games arent as cool also because of the dpad, doa, mk3 arcade stuff like that. I havnt played an action aventure type dmc game on 360 so i cannot judge. 360 controller is however excellent for shooters(offcourse) racers and a whole bunch of other game genres but i dnt think its very good for fighting or soccer especially pro evo soccer

Well, I wasn't arguing the quality of ports between the 2 consoles, I was calling out a flamebait title and an article that bases a visual comparison on memory. However, if you need an answer, I would say that devs have had 2 years with the 360 and less than 1 on the PS3 so I would expect them to be more adept on porting to the 360. That being said, If I were an xbot fanboy like yourself, I would be concerned that 9 months into the PS3's life (which is "hard to develop for") the graphic quality of it's games are alraedy this close to the 360. What happens if by just a year or so into the PS3, a game is released on the PS3 that looks better than the 360? What will you say then?

Well even if the 360 version looks "marginally" better (who knows how the retail version will compare, bear in mind what Gamespot and Ign also), at least we know that it won`t be a shoddy "sloppy seconds" port from 360 so to speak. Like VF5 which started out on PS3 also, the gap is much much closer when multiplatform (well the 2 games i mentioned) games start out on PS3. Im sure as time goes on, and more devs think this way (naturally the install base needs to increase by quite a bit before the "majority" of developers even consider it), the results will improve further still, what with more experience of course. As has been stated before, its easier to "port" from PS3 to 360.

The moment this game was announced to be multi-platform, the source of interest (primarily the PlayStation camp), had dramatically dropped and if you look at all the news article tracking the progress of the game - the interest level is never above 200 degrees (unless when its comparing the consoles).

I've been playing both versions in the DMC4 stand on LGC, the 360 version plays and looks slightly better, but it was hard to really compare in detail because the PS3 was on larger, but newer Bravia LCD's and the 360 on the launch Samsung LCD's.

I would say: the game in general didn't exite me. Which is too bad, because the first video's I found really good looking. Might be an older build, so curious about the final version!

The point is that when a game is ported from PS3 to 360, the author does not use the words inferior or crappy. I will take "less refined" because that is glass half empty, glass half full. It was a debate video on youtube about San Andreas on the PS2 and San andreas on the xbox 1 a while ago. The author from (ign or gamespot) xbox 1, said the xbox version looked better. The author from the PS2 side, loved the PS2 controls (as well as the xbox author). By the end of a comparison video, the xbox author agreed that in certain areas the ps2 version was more refined. I mean the game was made on ps2, and ported to xbox 1. They stated things like xbox was pc like (clean), while ps2 had softer edges giving a more realistic look to last gen visuals versus what is available on a pc. The original author, at the conclusion of the video said "of course a ps2 owner should just stick with the ps2 version", nothing here to make them repurchase or buy another system for." My point, less refined is better than crappy, but controls are HUGE factors in playing a game, and we have been down this road last generation. I read a review on amazon of a girl gamer trading in her 360 for a PS3 because she believed the 360 graphics were too pc like, while PS3 added realism.....I mean...to each his/her own. EVERYONE should get on the PS3 to 360 port train, so games like VF5 and DMC4, will at least not be called crappy ports on 360. And PS3 owners will get playable games (while less refined in 2007 early 2008, but I have faith that will change) and eventually will see superior multiplatforms (which most dual owners, would love to see) or at least equal graphics. It is a win/win. Work that CELL (the only way is to work it first then port), if the PS2 proved that in games like Shadow of the Colossus, Gran Turismo 3 and 4, and God of War...who even my brother who owned a xbox 1 said "why do xbox owners talk down on ps2 graphics?" He said xbox 1 had nothing visually like those titles. Shadow and Gran Turismo rival all the next gen titles in certain screens and gameplay, TRUE FACT. And of course the original xbox had their gems as well (ninja gaiden, fable). Playstation flavor will always be different than xbox flavor. This generation and next! That will NEVER change. But in order to see this, developers need to WORK THAT CELL, Kutagari knew it was tough, but by 2009, everyone will be happy for the CELL and Blu Ray, as well as the 360 hardware if this trend continues. It is getting better for PS3 multiplatforms, and it has not even been a year. Devil May Cry 4, started this whole "format war/stolen exclusive vibe) let's all hope it will cause a FAT KISS between 360/PS3 owners and developers while revealing the fist major standard for cross platform visual/play styles. for example; i played Ninja Gaiden on the X Box waaaaayy before i played Sigma on the PS3.

i was used to the X Box way of controlling the game.

however, when i played it on the PS3, i actually enjoyed the controls *BETTER.

the truth of the matter, is that the 360 and X Box controllers just aren't very ergonomic, in general.

i *DO have some complaints about the PS3 controller (mainly those damn trigger/button hybrids. if i'm watching a movie and set the controller down on my knee, it'll often rewind or fastword the damn movie!), but overall, it's a satisfying design.

much like Virtua Fighter using the analog sticks because of the wonky digital pad of the 360, DMC just seems more *BUILT for the PS3 controller.

but that's just my opinion based off of experience with *BOTH controllers.

a game like Gears, Crackdown, and Bioshock feel *GREAT on the 360. i'm not so sure about games like DMC however.

the games look and perform identically. I think these guys were just too used to the PS controller. I actually prefer the Xbox S controller to the new 360 one, simply because the L and R buttons on 360 are a little too thin for my taste.

I like how the article said it looked "marginally" better on 360 but not enough for a console superiority war. Obviously they underestimate how far this will be stretched lol. Anyways, I'd rather compare the finished products (is the ps3 demo the latest build or same from the last showing?) Either way I want this when i get a PS3 sometime next year.

Devil may cry was made for the playstation controller. Hell the series was started on the ps2. In general games such as this control better on a playstation controller, no that isn't biased-i've played ninja gaiden black and own smigma(lol sigma) and it's better to control on the ps3. As for the graphics, we all know the ps3 has better hardware but is harder to develop for-and it's not like the xbox360 version complete and utterly rips the ps3 version they both look great.

In the past, when I've played games that require a lot of rapid fire (constantly pressing one or more buttons), I have always found the Xbox 360 controller to be a little slow. I find that the buttons are a liiittle harder to press down than on the PS3 (and PS2, for that matter), which tends to make the games more tedious to play.

It might just be my impression, but I'd take the PS2/PS3 controller and play DMC any day, over the Xbox 360 controller.

Though I am sure that the game will be great on both systems, this is the reason I'm getting it for the PS3.

I don't mind the fact that the PS3 doesn't have rumble. It's on its way, sure, but unless the new controllers can offer something other than rumble, I'm perfectly happy with the current controllers.

Why don't I mind? First of all, it makes the controller much lighter. And second of all, for me personally, it doesn't really add anything to the gaming experience.

But if you can't live without rumble, going for the Xbox 360 makes sense.

Like I asked above (which I hate doing because it makes me out to have a Sony bias), doesn't it concern you as a 360 owner that the PS3 is already matching the GFX capabilities of the 360 only 9-10 months in? Not to mention devs having double the time to learn for the "much easier to develop for" 360. It would if I were as much an xbot as you. Thankfully I am not, since I understand that any progression for gaming benefits gamers.

Using similar engines to Dead Rising and Lost Planet, it's easy to see why the game would have a slight visual advantage on the 360.

As for controls I'm still finding it pretty funny that anyone plays action adventures of this type on the 360 controller. With years of PS development...it's obvious it would be easier to play on the DS2/SIXAXIS

The funny things is that almost every site ignores or forgets about PC version of DMC4.
With DX10 PC version should be the best looking but things look exactly the opposite right now. I still believe that Capcom shouldn't have announced the game for PC. DMC is very much a console game.
