Homophobic hackers take down Gay Gamer.net

Kotaku reports that Gay Gamer.net, a gay gaming news site, was attacked by hate speech, threatening emails, and denial of service attacks, eventually taking the site down. Kotaku's own weekend editor Flynn De Marco is the owner of Gay Gamer. He says that the denial of service attacks started Wednesday, and the web host was able to block the IP addresses of the attackers by that Friday, but that evening someone began posting hate messages, over sized images, and even death threats to the site's forums and chat room.

People are reporting this purely for the fact it's about gay gaming. Grow up. It's people like that, that ruin gaming and why the non-gamers see it as a childs hobby still.

If the real reason they attacked the site was because of homophobia that truly makes me sick.

Clinton5146108d ago

Makes no sense to me. People misuse the term "phobia".

Misleading indeed.

Because if you are, this might help:

ho·mo·pho·bi&# 183;a
–noun
unreasoning fear of or antipathy toward homosexuals and homosexuality.

Just to cover the bases:

an·tip·a·thy
–noun, plural -thies.
1. a natural, basic, or habitual repugnance; aversion.
2. an instinctive contrariety or opposition in feeling.
3. an object of natural aversion or habitual dislike.

I'm not trying to call you out or be insulting, just providing information.

Nice of the hackers to let the world know they are most likely homosexuals themselves who are desperately trying to deny the fact and are lashing out at anything that makes them confront the fact.

Real straight men are comfortable in their sexuality and have absolutely no problems being around, being friends with, or gaming with gay gamers.

Covenant6108d ago

Gay gamers...like my Geek Squad friend who likes to tell people, "Your @ss is mine...in Gears of War." LOL!

It's the same thing with female gamers...who cares where they put their hoohoo or haha (to quote Marge Simpson), as long as they can play!

techie6108d ago (Edited 6108d ago )

SO it's gays attacking gays? Doesn't that slightly sound like making gays out to be crazy and immature? I understand your sentiments though...

Covenant6108d ago

It's either some immature, frat-boy minded prankster, or something more serious. Defacing a site is one thing...death threats are another thing entirely.

Let's hope it's a one-time thing, and they catch the individual(s) responsible for this attack. Hate crimes are loathsome.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
