More Call of Duty 7 Details Revealed : Black Ops....

Call of Duty 7: Black Ops (CoD7) is the next game in the massive Call of Duty (CoD) franchise. In a recent report on Tek9, Activision shared some details about the new CoD game.

Black Ops is scheduled for release in November 2010 and sources indicate the game developed by Treyarch will be set in history, between World War II and present day. It is also hinted that some of the missions will take gamers to Cuba and South America which hints at a Cold War and Vietnam based game.

'Dude' did you even play WAW?..There were NO zombies in WAW..it was a multi-player mode..it's still one of the funnest multi-player modes out of any FPS this generation. Which is why the WAW map packs sold like crack on the street..they are a blast..

On topic..I'm with Foxhound..the Vietnam setting would be an amazing game..it's clear though that Treyarch didn't just want to be limited to a time period again...and it looks like they are going for the IW jugular and implementing a more current time piece..

This news alone means that this Call of Duty may be a monster at retail as well..

This game is going to rock. I enjoyed World at War more than MW2. It captured that gritty feel of war and this game certainly will at least maintain that. Zombies will make a return so this just sounds better every day.

World At War would have been COD5 and MW2 was COD6 albeit both dropped the number from the end of the Call Of Duty portion of the title.

Not sure this article is carrying the official name of the game though, I'd imagine they will now just continue to drop the numbers from Call Of Duty on each sequel, Activision are constantly criticised for churning out sequel after sequel, doing nothing new and milking the life out of popular titles. Not having ever growing higher figures as part of game titles might be a bit a subliminal way of taking attention away from that.

So many people say they want tacticle shooters, then they get frustrated because the tacticle gameplay(not saying you fit into this category).
Yes the basic run-and-gun shooters can get monotonous, but not everyone is cut out for actual tacticle shooters.

Those are hardly passable as "tactical" games. Try Arma, Arma 2, Operation flashpoint, Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising. <Those = tactical. Far cry 2? Give me a break. Thats like when people call the COD series tactical. Sorry but you cant call a game tactical and at the same time complain about campers. Real tactical games move fairly slow and its not about kills, its about completing objectives and helping your team and squad.

Edit: But, if you cant afford a good pc, flashpoint for the consoles and ghost recon should do. New ghost recon looks pretty balls though.

couple things about this game

Treyarch is handling it, and we just how dark these guys can get (I mean they did a terrific job in World at War to show the darkness of war)

They most definitely will be including a form of charlie zombies, another good thing

most likely they will have mod support and dedicated servers, another good thing

I have much higher hopes for this game than I did for MW2 before it was released. I honestly think Treyarch are better developers than Infinity Ward, even though they use the same engine in most cases for development, they just make the game much more worth your buck.

I agree CoD: WAW is a great game. I'm still playing this game after all this time and I cannot stop playing capture the flag, which was perfectly programmed and executed. Let's break it a little down shall we?

1)Zomby Mode Best mini game in a game in a long tiiiime, annnd, Treyarch supported this little gem with additional maps!!!

2)The entire game levels in the single player campaign could be played competitively or cooperatively.

3)Multi-player was supported with three additional DLC. Great support.

You figured Infinity Ward would answer Treyarch back with at least cooperative play, but nope. Nothing! Nada! You figure Infinity Ward would throw in a mini game into the equation. But nope, Nothing! Nada! Instead, Call of Duty: MF 2 was simply a 1.0 upgrade. And in my opinion, the changes and better paint job didn't hide the fact that the game was several steps below Call of Duty 4. And, Modern Warfare 2 did not answer the goodies Treyarch implemented in WAW. This should have been the pass of the torch sort of speak if you want to speak about moving forward and offering gamers next-gen gameplay. Or moving the industry forward. If Treyarch can offer players all these things, then what's stopping Infinity Ward from doing the same thing? Yes, art and style can conflict in game development, but seriously, if you guys want Infinity Ward to step up, then you better offer something more, instead of churning the same damn formula in a sequel.

My take:

Personally, I think Treyarch is working their way to being the new masters of shooters. Modern Warfare 2 was a major disappointment to me, due to faster/arcade gameplay and over the top thrills and crazy weapon upgrades and so forth. I played COD4 'till my thumbs were sore, and is incredible how a major programmer such as Infinity Ward can lose sight of the gameplay when they start revving up the software so it can play like everybody is on CRACK. Coupled with the levels being so sneakingly open with various entries and many layers of second and third floors throughout, that you could barely form a strategy. It then became a gun and shoot, and be killed in just seconds. What a bull of crap. I immediately noticed the difference as soon as I played my first map online. And what a major disappointment. That calm, and strategy and watch your step in COD4, kinda feeling went out the door faster than I can say what the hell just happened?

Oh well, Infinity Ward, you blew it, and Treyarch, you now have an open opportunity to shine like a star. Take over baby...

Of course they're doing a Vietnam game - Activision has no idea what will happen with the lawsuit with Zampella and West, who are claiming that they have the rights to any COD game made in a post-Vietnam time period... and it's not like they're going to sell a bunch of "COD: Yet Another WWII Shooter"

They'll really have to to go beyond the amount of silly they put in WAW if they want to survive. Treyarch was lauded for not taking their game too seriously, because MW and the me-too's have taken the serious war FPS spot. You'll need lots of zombies to get those off the shelves. Also, good news (well, rumors) about putting dedicated servers back in the mix.

That said, I don't care! I haven't seen anything worth playing in that genre since COD4.

Looking forward to this game. Although I think MW2 was a step down from CoD4, it was still a good game. PC gamers were the ones that had the bad taste in their mouths, and then it became popular to hate on the CoD series. Activision might be friggin stupid, but I.W. and Treyarch are Devs who try to make the best games they can.

CoD turn to crap now, not buying this series anymore.

I bought WaW expecting to chop people up with a Katana online. Disappointed greatly by Treyarch after I found out that it was not included for player use. Come on, Zombie Survival without a katana? Blasphemy. The bayonet also annoys me because it is a slash animation, not stab. Slash with a bayonet... while you don't even have a katana.

I think WaW has a great campaign. I like the fact that they added limbs being blown off. It added a lot to the dark and gritty feel of WaW.

I think this game will be great, campaign-wise at least. I'll probably buy this one used sometime next year when I'm trying to catch up on my backlog of games.

Im glad that you guys are so in love with timesplitters, and as a genuine fan of the series, I will say that there is a huge emptiness in my heart since that game hasn't been released even as a download.

So ya, the reason why I brought both games in the same sentence is that I hope that Treyarch breaks away from the Mold that IW made and they can do something different, like traveling back and forth in time, adding aliens, zombies, nazis, rebels, ill even take midevil knights to revitalize the series. Dedicated servers are a must, I wont buy another COD if it doesn't have at least that.

The Vietnam part seems okay. Imagine playing campaign and the enemies are everywhere. Guerrilla Warfare. That'd be tight! And like, scary. Imagine enemies popping out everywhere. Thi8s is due to MW2 single player and the awful camp fest that is COD online, I mean all I see when I run around is pitched tents and thermos flasks everywhere. I'm glad MW2 has has an angry backlash due to Kotic's comments about raising prices on video games and the sheer arrogance of IW and Activision towards us gamers.

The Battlefield series has had COD since day 1 and paved the way for the console generation online with Modern Combat on the ps2 (backstab anyone?) BFBC was criminally ovelooked by reviewers who have the head so far up IW's arse they haven't seen the light of day since MW2's release (whoever gave that game 8/10 upwards *i.e.90% of gaming media* should have been sacked or quit being a journo'), so I will be enjoying BFBC2 and its new found fame and upcoming downloadable DLC. I was heavily into MAG but even that wore thin, lack of guns and thrills and a 256 player deathmatch would have been nice just for kicks. SO screw you IW and Activision I hope you both dont prosperand i never see another call of bland game on the shelves again.
