Joe Russell writes, "Call of Pripyat was a decidedly difficult game to anticipate. Coming as it was from a series which has spawned both a hit and a miss, for many the third instalment was anything but a certain success. In 2007, gamers worldwide found themselves enraptured by GSC Game World's depiction of the radioactive world of the 'Zone'.
Now, in 2010, we return once again to the uniquely atmospheric setting of the Zone. But will Call of Pripyat be more akin to the classic Shadow of Chernobyl, or the underwhelming Clear Sky?"
GF365: "Let's take a look at some of the best fan-made graphics mods that vastly improve the look and feel of older games. The games that I've included in this list are mostly older titles that really need visual improvements."
Popularized by Doom in 1993 and still making video game haters gnash their teeth today, first-person shooter games are the best thing to happen to gamers since pizza rolls. So here are 15 underrated first-person shooter games you may have missed.
Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.
Lol
All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.
XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games
I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games have greatly influenced the Eastern European games that came later. In this, the second of a two-part miniseries exploring these influences, we investigate the gameplay mechanics that make "Stalkerlikes" what they are.
I just can't get enough of the Stalker games, even though they can be tedious at time. I think it has something to with being developed in eastern europe. I swear there is something in the soviet background of eastern european game developers that make them make games that forces the player to suffer for their fun.
I enjoyed the first stalker but pripyat...........well to put it bluntly I vomited through my nostrils while trying to play it a few days ago.
I could swear the original had better graphics, the storyline was in shambles (I sat running around like a headless chicken trying to climb a hill for 20 minutes because an arrow told me I should before getting to frustrated at not being able to see anything decently at night and not being able to skip to daytime) and the gameplay........well I suppose that wasn't decidedly flawed.
But then you mix in that every few moments the game randomly STALLS (even while simply reloading my gun in a closed room) and that it's about as pretty (on max) as my haemorrhoid problem.................I can't say I'll be looking forward to any future titles in the series.
This brings me back.
Haven't played the other games in this series (because of such a wide array of responses to them), but I think I have to pick this one up now. Sounds really good.
