UE3 and Frostbite to power Medal of Honor

So many games use the UE3 these days, I was really hoping we'd see the transition to the new Cry Engine before now. Not that the Unreal engine isn't capable of great graphics, it's just that almost every game that uses it looks a little similar. I was hoping to see some new flavors for 2010.

Hopefully it's heavily modified enough to stand apart from the crowd of other games that use it as well.

CryEngine 3 is only just available to licence, you'll see plenty of games using in a few years.

I wasn't speaking specifically about CE3 and it's availability now. They've been working on that engine for some time, and what I meant was that I wish it would've been finished before now, and that games could've started utilizing it already.

With that said, average developement time on a game these days is usually less than 2 years, so it would be great if started seeing the CE3 take over by the end of next year. Doubtful, but it would be nice.

Let's see how EA handles this game as well as Bad Company 2. The multiplayer on EA's latest shooter, Army of Two 40th day, is completely broken and lag-infested. I own the game and the multiplayer versus is unbearable.

Is great and it's very disheartening to go back from destruction.

I have to say that MOH could be the realy COD killer if EA indeed makes the game style similar to COD.

And I also have to say that I love EA now. They were the Activision of yesteryear but they have do so, so, so much better for themselves.

Looking forward to BC2.

But borderlands are cellshaded and mirrors edge is kind of special with it´s color palet. Iwas thinking of games like army of two, rainbow six, dark void, moh: airborn, turok, section 8 and more.

i hope its like a call of duty style multiplayer (with less bugs and glitches) with destructable enviroments, smaller maps than Battlefield and a powered down n00btuber.
im gonna love this years FPS' Battlefield:Bad Company 2, MAG, Medal Of Honor and maybe Resistance 3.

mirrors edge, imho is one of if not the best looking console game released this generation, so far. If they can get the same fidelity and quality for MOH then no complaints from me.

I thought i read that dice is only doing the MP which uses frostbite

wouldnt that mean that EA-LA is doing SP and using UE3

My guess is that they're going to be using the same modified engine for the rumored mirror's edge 2, if that's the case I'm sure they'll be helping with the backend of the game.

UE3 is optimised quite well for PS3 now. Airborne used UE3 anyway. The only news is that the multi is different from the single player. Sort of....tacked on. Errrr...i hope it works out lol

i think its lame they dont want to learn frostbyte and make a better game than battlefield bad co. 2; with all that time after bad co. releases i was expecting something fresh with the same engine and more "new". now i can expect the game to be very limited in terms of open area space. at least like the first poster said try the new cryengine.they lost points for this move.

you people just didn't like it because it's overly used, but overly used =/= lousy engine. it didn't help that a lot of devs didn't bother changing the art style. i'm sure you people realise that me2 actually used ue3 right? and it looks so much better than geow 2 right? then there's also mirror's edge, borderlands and batman aa. it makes sense though to use frosbite for the multiplayer, because apparently the one thing ue3 sucks at is network coding, or so people say, and it's evident through geow 2.

screw the part about ue3, it look bad ass still, i mean it is technically capable and it has been heavily modified.. im just annoyed at the multiplayer, as much as battlefield is good in its little world i do not want a total duplicate of its online for this game, i want them to have the medal of honor heroes2 style of online exept with great graphics, i mean if they just use the engine for destruction and stuff thats sweet i just hope DICE dont get too caried away :(
