BioWare's Cho hints at PS3 Mass Effect 2, ME2 DLC - English and Polish

In an interview with Polygamia.pl (English version in the right-hand column) Bioware's Adrien Cho was asked, among other things, about the possibility of Mass Effect 2 coming out for the PS3. He does not confirm it outright, but his evasive statements indicate that something is likely going on in that direction.

He also talks about Mass Effect 2 DLC, inspirations for the game and why ME2 is better than Dragon Age.

Again, to people who tend to report these as not being in English, the English version is in the right-hand column of the page.

i just played and finished Mass Effect and i thought it was well thought out and the dialogues are very representative of the attitude one decides to play this game with (Renegade/Paragon). I like it a lot, in fact i want to replay the story but going full renegade to see how the characters respond and what consquences will follow.
I see Mass Effect 2 has great potential by corecting the first one mistakes and expanding on the good things it has. If its coming to PS3 or not it does not concern me,but before releasing ME 2 on the PS3, Me 1 should be made available to the PS3 so that the story gets a continuation with the ME2 on PS3.

I'm 75% sure that SCC and ME2 will come to PS3 eventually. I mean, just look at the massive increase in the PS3's sales. By next year, it'll be even more and these big devs won't ignore all those possible customers.

I think Mass Effect 2 will be on PS3 in one year after it comes out for the 360. It would be great if they can fit Mass Effect 1 and 2 on the same blu-ray disc. I wouldn't play Mass Effect 1 again though, but I know other gamers would like to.

Microsoft never had any right to it, there may have been an exclusivity agreement for the first game though, who knows about the second, but they don't own the rights.

Sony Publishes and gives Insomniac the money for all their games, they also own the rights to them. So if Insomniac wanted to go multi plat they would lose all the money they get from Sony, because I highly doubt Sony would fund a game for the 360.

Just hearing the comments from Bioware everytime they ask this makes me believe that they at least are exploring a PS3 port. Whether they can manage to port it with performance on par or better than the X360 version is the real question in my opinion. If they can not then they'll drop it and if they can they will port it. I'd have to disagree. Using L4D as an example of why it won't come to the PS3 is pretty stupid considering how much we know Valve hates the console. Has Bioware shown a similar disinterest? Dragon Age: Origins says 'no.'

Sony owns the God of War IP, making porting to another system impossible (even if it wasn't a first party game, which for the record, it is), but MS doesn't own the rights to Mass Effect.

Having said that, I think ME coming to the PS3 would be damned cool; I'd love to be able to play it. The best way would be to put both games and DLC on a disk and sell it to me.

The possibility is 50/50 in my book. Honestly, who knows? However, there are a few points that I think people need to consider:

*Dragon Age sold "significantly" better on 360- to the tune of hundreds of thousands of copies

*ME1 never came out on PS3

*Bioware is relatively independent- EA lets them do what they want. They are profitable doing things their way after all.

*Remember Bioshock? It came out a year after the 360 version and sold a fraction of the amount. The fact of the matter: most people don't want to wait a year to play "any" game. Most people I assume will either buy it for PC, play it on a friends 360, or skip it all together.

*The game will more than likely sell enough on the 360/PC to satisfy EA's greed. If M$ has some exclusivity agreement, than that might be enough reason to keep it only on 360/PC.

Personally, I think everyone should experience the game. If it doesn't come to PS3, find some way to play it. :-)

I think it i coming but not day 1 so I will be playing it on the 360 because i refuse to wait. Really it makes sense for them(bioware and EA). They could bring out the first one this year, and even if only 1 million PS3 owners bought it that is 60 mil on an old game, Then the year after that ME2 could come out and the are basicaly extending the life of there game, and they will still be able to charge the full 60 bucks a year later, not very many games that can still sell for full price after being on shelves that long. So it really makes alot of sense to everyone.

Valve isn't owned by EA; EA is simply a publishing partner. Bioware, however, IS owned by EA, and you did notice that the first 7th gen game Bioware made after EA acquisition was multiplatform, right? Or were you silly enough to believe that was a coincidence?

I imagine that they will bring ME one out on PS3 first before ME2, it may be older but the could add some content and improve the graphics a little and then PS3 owners could get the whole experience, really Mass Effect is the only thing that we are missing out on.

I think people missed something. He said mass effect 2...not 1 which MS published not EA. They technically can sway things with regards to ME2 on the ps3 if it can not get ME1. Who would want to play 2 and 3 yet miss out on the beginning of the story. ME2 may very well come to the ps3. But I seriously doubt ME1 ever will.

It's Bioware that make these rumors start with opening their mouths about it in such a way that makes us speculate. It's not like anyone is trying to take them out of context. Remember that this is someone that is IN Bioware that had dodged the question and not just said NO to the question. Why would he not say no if it WASN'T at least being talked about?

And, like I've said countless times, Bioware continues to try to put the toothpaste back into the tube after spilling it all over the place every time they have loose lips saying something they don't want said. How many times has it been now that someone from Bioware hints at the possibility, only to try to cover their tracks just a day or so later? What else COULD this mean?

Microsoft's Third Party Exclusives are timed exclusives so we know its going to happen...same with Splinter Cell Conviction...its just a matter of when. I definitely agree with you man, owning both consoles is great I just need a reason to turn on my PS3, after beating Uncharted 2 in three days I haven't used it much (hell I never really did use it much) not with Forza, L4D2, MW2 and GTA DLC to play this holiday season. I have the opposite problem i need a reason to turn on my 360. I usually by all multiplats on PS3 because thats where all of my friends are. But i'm holding on to my 360 for some good exclusives next year.

I do want L4D2 but im waiting until it drops in price. I'll get to GTA DLC eventually but i just finished Lost and Damned and i dont fell like playing GTA right now.
