I'm going to get a new led dlp HDTV this x mas. When people come over they ask me how I got an hd wii lol. Hell it even makes hd games look better.

The game isnt 720p but the game itself is extremely fun toplay with friends and family cuz you could pick them up and murder each other!

Lol el why does a wii owner have a better tv than you? I refuse to buy a half azz HDTV. Also IMAX only uses dlps hd projectors.

If it does not make sense then it's because you don't understand how they work. The best thing you could do is just find one and compare it to your HDTV if the wii looks like crap then you got had. The tech companies are treating you guys like little kids and taking your hard earned cash. If your going to get a tv that big then why not make it flawless?

I think, personally, for a game that's cartoony and colourful, the texture resolution doesn't really matter as much.

Even running something like Wario Ware or Galaxy in an upscaled form looks decent enough on my TV (Resident Evil 4 is near unplayable, it looks that bad, textures all blend).

Instead, shots like this just confirm my question, "why not, at least, 720p?"

Meh, graphics don't really matter if you really think about it. Since about the PS2, graphics got to a point where anything else is just for showing off.

It's really all about gameplay. And this game delivers that in spades. Too bad no online co op though.

Course, I think I'm in the minority when it comes to gameplay > graphics.

Shadow of the Colossus is still my favorite game. Even though it's not exactly Crysis...the environments and art more than make up for it. The game is just plain gorgeous!

I'd rather play Devil May Cry 3 than Devil May Cry 4 any day...even though it looks terrible. Lols. It just had so much more heart to it.

Developing is all about the love of the craft. Those who care and really want to make an enjoyable experience will.

Of course, sometimes...you don't have to settle for one or the other.

All of these hold up well graphically and with gameplay. (I'm sure a few of them are debatable, but I'm trying to prove a point.)

Wario Ware isn't the best looking game ever. It's actually a pretty aesthetically pleasing game, but it doesn't look INCREDIBLE! However, it's probably the most fun I've had with a game this generation!

Wait...no...that goes to Buzz: Quiz TV. Lols. Wario Ware is a very close second though!

Yeah, that's basically the point I was trying to make. And SotC was a good example. Can it look better? Of course it can. But they managed to make an incredibly emotional and near perfect game that still looks pretty good till this day.

And of course, great graphics are nice. But I'd never play a game for its graphics.

Killzone 2 was really good. Graphics were nice but I liked it for its different controls.

Movies are still good in SD, but I prefer my movies in HD1080p. Just like I prefer my games with good graphics. Good graphics and gameplay aren't mutually exclusive.

Crap movies are just as bad in HD!

Looks amazing! Seriously, if Nintendo would release a Wii HD that had 720p output and 4x anti-aliasing, I would be sold. Everything I have seen on the Wii emulator looks fantastic, I just wish Nintendo would have done this in the first place.

The screenshots are 1024x576. Maybe they were downsampled from the source images, but the images hosted on nintendoeverything aren't HD.

Depends on the type of game you want. Do you want a long, epic adventure? Or multiplayer, platforming fun?

Zelda for the wii is like 3 years old, and I hear constant reports that the gamecube version is better and is the "TRUE" version, because link has always been left-handed unlike the wii versions inverted world. But I don't think the gamecube supported widescreen, so F that.

I'd still go for this *NEW* awesome mario, if I still had the wii.

@slugboss - I have the Wii version and I can't even think about going back to GameCube controls. Firing arrows works so much better and the motion control isn't nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.

Yeah, aiming is definitely a plus... but than waggling to swing is a definitive minus IMO. I played through the wii version and it didn't seem like as big of a stepping stone as previous zeldas, more of the same basically.

Mario FTW! I highly favor platformers to begin with though.

Lol, when I first played Zelda on the Wii, every time motion control was needed, I waggled the Wiimote enthusiastically. But after a little while you kinda forget about the controls and start to focus more on the game.

But is it technically possible for Nintendo to release the emulator as a download of in a firmware upgrade depending on how big it is. I know they won't but is it technically possible to do.

UPDATE: OK never mind I hadn't realized this was an emulator for the PC I thought if was merely an upscaler.

How much better does it look in 480p compared to 480i? I'm currently playing it in 408i on my HDTV and it looks horrible, it really feels like I'm about to go blind.

Look quite a bit better. Colors and detail are sharped.
Warning however, the laggies usually get worse as it sharpens the picture, unless you have an upscaler in your TV or receiver. But overall it's an improvement over the washed out blurfest that is composite cables. Monoprice has cheap cables that rock.

Actually, the question should be: what kind of cable do you use. I have a 40" screen, and when I bought my Wii, image was dirty, blurry and noisy. I bought a YUV cable and now in 480p the image is clean (and aliasing ubiquitous). But I really wish Nintendo is considering a Wii HD.

I havnt hooked my Wii on my HD tv so i cant say how bad the upscaling is, but on my big @ss SD tv it looks fine =P.

It varies from game to game.

Mario Galaxy, for example, looks fantastic.
Resident Evil 4, for example, looks a mess, to the point of being unplayble.

That being said, I might be getting an HDTV around the holidays and I play the Wii a lot, are there any recommendations as far as TV specs and cables that you guys can offer that work best with the Wii?

I have a samsung 40+ inch and an projector they both handle dlp which is like upscaling yet better and faster. We get no lag either. This will not change texture resoltion but every thing is hd crisp.

If ssinf was smart they would send wii's out with there tvs to crush the competition. Other wise you will be pizzed off by what other hdtvs look like when displaying sd content.

This is the eqvilant to color tvs not show black and white correctly lol.

Get a samsung dlp or any dlp tv and you should be fine.

Once you leave "Medium sized SDTV" to "Extra Large In Yo' Face Sucka Beautiful HDTV" then you will know why owners who has a Wii really wished there was an HD version. Or at least myself.

I don't own a Wii but I borrowed my nephews and hooked it up to my 46" LN46A750 and it looks terrible. But the gameplay of New Super Mario Bros. overshadowed any graphical discourse lol. I love that game! It's the only Wii game that's taken me away from my PS3/360.

The better questionis why arn't more hdtvs sd capable? This is the first time ever that consumers both a tv that actualy could not display older conect as well as the cheapest sd tv out there. It's actualy pretty sad no one even thinks about this when they invest in a tv lol.

Seriouly that is one of the main reasons HDTV has not caught on faster the tech is a incomplete solution unless you get a dlp hd tv. Go to your local tv store to find out and see if for your self.
