Bigger, better and more badass, the strange thing about videogames is that sequels usually trump the originals. The engine's in place and the success of the original gives the developers more freedom to play with new ideas.

we all know that final fantasy 7 is a SEQUEL to final fantasy 6. *facepalm* (btw hardcore fans like FF6 better)

@Kirby. Agreed with DMC 2 for worst sequel ever but I thought Tomb Raider 2 was the best of the series

final fantasy is not a sequel to final 6
killzone 2 should have been there because the first suck but second one is way better
its seems there is a lot playstation game on this list cause im pretty sure i could think of better sequel on other system

Pretty amazing how God of War 2 was better than the first. God of War 2 had much better levels, better puzzles and more boss battles. Graphics were even sharper, story was more epic, and there was overall a better flow to the game while it being longer than the first. Even the beginning for GOW2 was better, and anyone who played the first God of War knows how mind blowing the first's beginning was.

But I guess they had to keep the article within a reasonable length. I would like to add Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 to the list as both were significantly better than the previous iterations (though the originals were still great fun).

I'd like to see a list about originals that were better than the sequels.

I thought Fable was a joke, both 1 and 2, you can leave those over hyped games off IMO

However I would put uncharted 2, I like the scenery better in 1 but the story better in 2, HALO 3 smoked HALO 2, GT series etc there are a lot better titles to point out then whats on that list

god of war II was better? no way, the huge puzzle in the game on kronoses back, the newness of it all, the shock factor of kratos getting impaled by a log??!

the 2nd one was good, but it was way more of the same, the gore and the fighting style was the same, kratos dies comes back again.

other sequels added new things, but i felt kratos was just more of the same, like a ratchet sequel

lol, Half Life 2 is better in every way! Haf Life 1 was a milestone, i know, but for me Half Life 2 is in the top 3 of the best games ever created.. Together with Uncharted 2 and MGS4 :-)

uncharted 2 is one of the most improved sequals i've ever played i mean come on i dont think anyone expected it to be the 2nd highest rated exclusive and 5th highest rated game of all time that shocked alot of people

No way is ff7 better than 6. Music, characters and scenario-wise; not a chance. I love ff7 like the next guy, but just no.
Same goes for biohazard 2, which is a great great game. But not better
than part one.

In ff6 you're a thief that demands to be called a treasure hunter. In ff7 you're some emo kid trying to save the planet. FF7 was good but I don't get it either. Just thank God they didn't include Chrono Cross.
