Cryptic's superhero MMO Champions Online has been given a permanent price reduction across digital outlets and retailers.
Cryptic Studios appears to be the latest Embracer-owned company to be impacted by layoffs.
Champions Online is based on the popular pen-and-paper Champions RPG, giving players the power of total customization of their hero experience while they explore a vast universe of richly detailed 3D environments.
The brand-new Witch Archetype brings ranged Support through the use of Curses to harm and spells to heal in Champions Online.
What and why the hell???
Make that $59(€39.99) on Steam in Europe.
A price cut at this stage is a little worrying, but if the game can hold on for another 6 months then I think it'll find a nice little niche.
DC Online will probably be more successful, but from the vids I've seen, the graphics and game play look inferior to Champions.
I'm enjoying the game a lot. There's just enough content to hit level cap. There have been some nerfs/changes, but what do people expect at such an early stage.
The only area I think it struggles is that PvP feels like an afterthought, and that's why a lot of people are complaining about balance issues. I think they should concentrate on PvE and to hell with PvP in it's current state. A game with no strict classes is always going to struggle for balance when it comes to PvP - and I'd hate to see widespread nerfs (that will obviously ipact PvE) just to appease the people complaining about PvP balance.
The game is still young, it's got a solid base to build on and is currently finding it's feet (as all MMO's do). At the moment it doesn't feel like a hardcore MMO, and that suits me fine for now.
