Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Delayed on PC

With the revelation of a new release schedule from Activision-Blizzard this morning, highlighting the publishers autumn/winter line-up, Electronic Theatre can today confirm that the PC version of the highly-anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has suffered a delay. Originally due for a simultaneous release with the rest of 2009's Call of Duty onslaught, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will now officially be late to the party.

Piracy is just as rampant on the 360 lately. ODST was all over the internetz for a whole month before release. If this is a move to limit piracy, IW is in for a big surprise. I hope the steam PC version is still available on the 10th.

While the PC is by far the best platform for playing shooters--better controls, mod tools, etc. A good video card costs more than most consoles. Hence, the masses will always own consoles and only consoles. Most folks that stick with consoles come from households with PC's incapable of playing the latest games. Giving those folks the added benefit of not knowing what they are missing.

Consoles do have one big advantage when it comes to multi-player. Everyone is using basically the same platform--there is no advantage to the person with the better hardware and everyone is using the same crappy controllers. Plus matchmaking tends to be better--well at least on the 360, but the PS/3 is coming along.

my cod team just decided we'd all skip mw2 this time around and just burn through ofp2 and borderlands until bad company 2 comes out.

the friend I was talking to about skipping mw2 convinced the 2 other guys and it seems like they are all in favor.

though that just means we will not be "paying" for it. Doesn't mean we won't play it. Garena is probably gonna be jam packed full of players.

So what else is new? Almost every multiplat game gets delayed for the PC. Devs claim they're adding this and that to the graphics or whatever... they're not fooling anyone.

They should just say it out loud,"ATTENTION! We've delayed this game for the PC because we're greedy inconsiderate pricks who want to sell every last console copy before releasing the PC version, with the hope that most idiots who've already bought the console version would buy it again for the PC. Oh, by the way, the PC price will also get hiked by the time it comes out. Nothing to worry about....."

I've always liked the franchise and respected Activision for it.

I lost all my respect for Activision though, some months ago when they started whining over how hard it was to develop for PS3... Build a freaking bridge and get over it! You don't see Naughty Dog screaming over how hard it is.

These news just adds to my disappointment with the company, damn... Today I lost all the few bits of respect I had for Activision.

Tell a developer you only rented or bought a used copy of their game, and see how much they like that too considering they don't get any money from it either. Call Of Duty has a big fairly casual and MP focused community. People buy these games because they play them from the multiplayer for one. And secondly the base of the game are made up of a lot of people who don't even know how to pirate a game.
