Wining Eleven 2007 PS3 Rumor

According to a Konami insider, the forthcoming PS3 version of Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007, will have a massive quality gap over the Xbox 360 version.

It will also be running at 60 FPS, have online play and take up over 18GB, no doubt making full use of the enhanced capacity of Blu-ray.

The news came from a forum post on the Japanese game site Ruliweb by an apparent Konami employee who is a team member working on the soccer game. Still this is very much a rumor at this moment.

It`s finally back on playstation after last year`s mess on the 360..This time around the 360 gets a ported version and for Blu ray it`s starting to show it`s advantages no doubt about that

My cousin's, brother's friend that has a friend that works for Konami (lead designer) said that the PS3 version would be like 3 times better!!! OMG I need to buy a PS3 right away! Besides being a true graphics wh0re and fanboy n00b, your making quite a few assumptions. Tell me when Sony fanboys can fly...dumba$$. How about you compare the most recent Pro Evo for the PS2 vs any next gen system for the next 2-3 years. Last gen is guaranteed to have more content. Wait and see? Konami isn't afraid to expose differences in platform capabilities, so it would make sense. 10GB for rendered models alone sounds plausible though for the PS3 version (includes everything from players to stadiums). If this turns out to be true then there are going to be a lot of gameplay/feature differences as well between the 360 and PS3 versions.

3x better seems a bit exaggerated but i think blu-ray will enable better player textures, motion capture, stadiums and commentary. bear in mind that xbox360 pro6 apparently takes up 7gig and it was acknowledged by most xbox360 owners to be quite poor (offering less stadiums than even the ps2 version). 18 gig for next gen with all the stadia might not seem so outlandish. so capacity is important but doubtful as to whether the ps3 will be 3x better.

also it's a rumor so take all rumors with a pinch of salt

you can have 200 million billion kagillion gigs of textures on the disc but the thing is ps3 and 360 are 512mb (ish) systems !

unless ps3 can stream textures to the gpu and not need any of the system ram its not going to matter !

i think you missed the point of my argument. i was specifically saying that eventhough the xbox360 version of pes6 is rather light in terms of features it still stacks up (appaerently) 7gigs of disk space so anyone who says 18gig is impossible should really need to reconsider. not saying that 18gig is necessary i am just saying that on record konami do seem to need a lot of space. maybe they should learn more on how to compress data.

not sure if it is definitely the case but i heard the xbox 360 version of pes takes up 7 gig and i know for sure that the ea fifa 2007 version for the ps2 takes up ~4gig. so pes7 for ps3 taking up more than dvd9 capacity is not impossible - in fact it is highly likely. like i said earlier, more space needed for mapping every player, stadiums and commentary.

in fact according to wikipedia these are the features missing in the xbox 360 pes 6 version - which is quite a lot if you consider the games supposedly takes up 7 gig:

Bear in mind also that pes 7 will be huge because for the first time it will cover all 13 full licensed leagues. So yes, 18gb is possible but i think the 3x better claim is a bit outlandish.

I can confirm that the rarred file for pro evo 6 iso for the xbox 360 is 6.3 gig so 7 gig iso for pes 6 xbox360 is most likely true. Hence, with full 13 league licensing, extra commentary and sound, stadiums, and textures 18 gig is highly likely. I don't think the 18 gig capacity is bull. 9gig limit of DVD might not be enough.

I think it's safe to say that a difference of this magnitude is just unprecedented when comparing consoles of the same generation. No matter how much I've heard people nitpick about the multi-platform title differences...there has yet to be anything near this extreme. As a PS3 fan, this would be good news, and I would like to believe it...although it's entirely too far-fetched.

If this were the case, they may as well just make one version all together.

Resistance probably has less compression then most.

G.O.W i heard has a hell of alot, but as said above the 360 is good at compression, well with the storage space it has, it better be.

Like I stated before, because of the PS3's Cell, the ps3 will be good at having a lot of things on screen all moving at once. A lot of procedural crunching power, but not sure about the looks/graphics.

there won't be any differences between PS3 and 360 version of PE7, except for minor ones due to hardware differences and services available.We all know this is true of multi-platform games, but some people just refuse to be realistic.Ask yourself why a company producing a multi-platform game would risk sales by making one version superior to the other? this is only the beginning... all the third party developers will give more content to PS3 and do something cool with the sixaxis... we'll have to remember that developers are creative people and creative people likes to show off what they can do. PS3 certainly gives them more space (Blu-ray), easy access of data (HDD is standard) and extra movement feature (sixaxis)... why would i not make use of these features if i get a chance?

unless MS upgrades its 360 to PS3's level... we'll be hearing lots'a news like this!

second, i believe the PS3 version will have more content in the disk like more movies songs etc as there is a greater capabillity, BUT with all the multi platform games so far looking identicle or SLIGHTLY better on the Xbox 360, i doubt it will be 3X better.

for the PS2 version, so this sounds very plausible. Considering there are over 15,000 players and 32 stadiums that they wish to put in (in addition to the countless hours of custom commentary) and it's easy to see why the 360 version was so lacking in features and content.

Microsoft has a cap on how much space devs can use on 360 DVDs, which is 7.9 GB. The other 600MB are blocked off due to security purposes.

Yes no doubt but the PS2 didnt have the compression method named Procedual Synthesis that the 360 has! So DVD9 is more than enough
If you think otherwise TAKE A GOOD HARD LOOK AT CRYSIS and its only on ONE count them ONE DVD9 and it still looks better than anything either console will be able to come up with!

If the game is 3 times better than the xb 360 version. Alot of developers will want to know how they managed.(that's without delaying the ps3 version for a year)
At this point in the ps3 lifecycle the development of games on the ps 3 is still harder than for the xbox360. So a game three time better could only mean a game which takes three time more disk space(not necesairely "unique data" on the disk).

If true, I'd be very glad to see a developer taking advantage of the PS3 while still keeping a game multi-platform. I could care less if every PS3 exclusive went multi-platform, I just don't want the game to be watered down to allow it ala Grand Theft Auto IV. "Grand theft auto" sucks because its coming out for both systems. you HAVEN'T even SEEN, or PLAYED the game yet. IF it comes out and, gues what, turns out that everything you said (360's bringing down the PS 3 with its inferior graphics capabilities etc. etc. etc.) was true, that would be an appropiate time to scream out "Xbox 360 sucks- Kuest in YOUR face!".

As for the Pro Evo, well.. I can't say I'm not suprised. The franchise has consitently been more allinged w/ Sony. Still, it is dissapointing to know that 360 won't benefit from these features after having to put up w/ all those dumb@ss PS 2 grpahics (C'mon Konami!) but I guess thats because Xbox can't really handle TRUE Next Gen graphics like the PS 3. PS3 is bound to have more levels on some games with more detail, if the devs decide to only release a single DVD for XB360. I think most will just shrug and release a two or three DVD edition for the XB360 and let people just swop disks. Little bit annoying - but hey - what can they do.
