I have the 360 version, but my friend swears by the PC version and has been trying to get me to buy it. Is it that much better then the 360 version?

Peter North5350d ago

It's much better especially in the visuals and the controls. For example on the Flopbox version it's almost impossible to take down a Tank due to the sluggish controls and awkward button placement, on the PC it's as easy as 1-2-3.

Pandamobile5350d ago

L4D is not meant to be played on the 360. The controls are crap, it's way too fast paced for controller input, it looks like garbage on the 360, and you don't get any of the awesome mods or maps that the PC version has.

Every Valve game is 100x better on PC.

wxer5350d ago

im 100% with panda
this game was NOT made to be on the 360
it was originally on PC
but it got a crapy port to the 360

thats why
this game got no chance at all

Thanks be to Microsoft for giving us AAA games for pc and Xbox360.

Pandamobile5350d ago

Quite delusional, aren't you?

Microsoft had nothing to do with L4D. Valve made L4D as a PC game and ported it to the 360. Microsoft doesn't even have a hand in the PC gaming platform.

solar5350d ago

yes, thank you Microsoft for: WoW, StarCraft, Warcraft, Diablo, The Witcher, STALKER, Spore, The Sims, Counter Strike, Half Life, Pain Killer, Myst, Doom, Commander Keen, Ultima Online, Baulders Gate, The Oregon Trail, Cyrsis, NeverWinter Nights, Battlefield 2, Zeno Clash, Deux Ex, do i need to go on?

Bnet3435350d ago

Was thinking of getting this on PC, but I might get it on 360 just to play with my friends. $30 seems fair.

Pandamobile5350d ago

That's a big mistake buying it for 360. It should be a sin to play Valve games on anything other than a PC.

green5350d ago (Edited 5350d ago )

Bless me father for i have sinned.I bought 2 valve games to play on by 360 namely, Orange Box and Left 4 Dead.I had so much fun playing those games on my 360 especially Left 4 Dead that i will be repeating the same sin again in November with the purchase of L4D 2.

@ Below: See you there very soon.

M337ING5350d ago

Enjoy paying $7 for free content.

This ^

And enjoy your hellfire.

table5350d ago (Edited 5350d ago )

I have to agree that Valve games are best played on PC. Nothing against the 360 or even ps3 for that matter but the controls/player movement feels tighter on PC and the keyboard/mouse combination can't be beat for their games. Not to mention the better value you are getting with your purchase.

TheIneffableBob5350d ago

There's nothing wrong with Valve games on 360 and there's nothing wrong with playing them, it's just that the experience is so much better on the PC there's not a good enough excuse not to play it on that platform.

nycredude5350d ago

Can i play this game if I don't pay for Live. Is it still fun to play by myself?

Elven65350d ago

The GOTY should have been closer to this price at release! $59.99 (or $69.99 in CDN!) for the original game plus FREE DLC, wtf Valve/EA?

STONEY45350d ago (Edited 5350d ago )

@nycredude

Offline it does get boring once you've finished all the campaigns (which doesn't take very long). Don't buy it unless you can play online, it makes the game that much better. But you should still play offline first to get a grip on things, alot of the community don't like beginners.

aldesko5350d ago

I agree with Stoney... if you don't have live, try to play it on PC. You really do get more bang for your buck. If you don't have a good enough PC or just like playing on consoles (which is understandable), L4D honestly isn't as fun offline... but for $30, it's not that bad. If you like zombie games, I would check it out.

Most AAA games that come to pc are also on xbox360 you've heard of GAMES FOR WINDOWS haven't you well you can thank Microsoft and xbox360 for giving you AAA games because pc was in a sorry ass state until Microsoft stepped in.

Pandamobile5350d ago

Microsoft is trying to keep PC gaming down to sell their sh1tty 360's, asshat.

Games for Windows LIVE in an abomination, and the Games For Windows logo you see on games is just a branding. Microsoft doesn't do sh1t all for PC Gaming.

Ever since Microsoft stepped into the gaming market, it's become a cancer.

swiftshot935350d ago

LOL. I stopped PC gaming a long time ago but Im not blind, no matter how you look at it Blizzard, Valve, Bioware, 2K, and Crytek will keep supporting PC. These devs are regarded as some of the best in the industry. What has MS published on PC the couple of years that stood above the bunch?

LordMarius5350d ago (Edited 5350d ago )

Any how many awards did this one won

Edit: It says 40, but how many were GOTY awards

Pandamobile5350d ago

L4D won a whole bunch of GOTY awards from different publications. It also got a ton of awards for Best Shooter, Best Sound, Best Multiplayer, Best New Mechanic (for the AI Director), and a whole slew of other ones.

solar5350d ago

all those awards, yet Valve is untalented, lazy developers. ps3 owners such have high standards, yet they think KZ2 is the best shooter ever. quite hypocritical if you ask me.

aldesko5350d ago

I don't recall any GOTYs for the 360 version, but I believe the PC version got a few, and definitely some 'best multiplayer', 'best mechanic, etc... awards like Panda said.

Most Offensive Video Games That Would Never Cut It Today

Times are changing, and these games would have never been made in today's climate.

Every single time someone uses this phrase whether it's music, movies, books, comics, video games, etc it's always the same claim.

The ubiquitous "they" won't allow it to be made. And every decade these claims are made the claimant completely ignores all the "offensive" material that is published when the claim is made.

In ten years, you can write a new article about how you can't make games like Helldivers 2, Resident Evil VIII, Mortal Kombat I, Dragon's Dogma 2, Alan Wake 2 etc etc etc any more.

MrBaskerville36d ago

Yeah, people wouldn't be constantly outraged if there weren't games that people found enraging. The whole SBI discourse shit wouldn't be a thing if all games were inoffensive. A game like Starfield can make a guy froth at his mouth, so there will always be room for a list like this.

0hMyGandhi36d ago

Normally, I'd be inclined to agree with you, but there are massive caveats.
TV shows like Venture Bros, Ren and Stimpy, and Aqua Team wouldn't/couldn't be made today. Hell, Ren and Stimpy was a *children's* show, same thing with Rocko's Modern Life.

It's not for some arbitrary reason, either. It's branding and IP alignment. Companies are far more risk-averse than they were when I was kid in the 90's. Of course, you have companies coming out of the woodwork to hell spur on similar content, but remember: Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon and some incredibly provocative material.

And for movies? it's pretty obvious. American Pie/Wedding Crashers/Eurotrip among many other "raunch coms" have fallen out of style, and are absolutely outside what the modern day film industry is willing to stand by.
Ace Ventura 1 and 2, Dumb and Dumber, Freddy Got Fingered, Rat Race, Harold and Kumar, and Van Wilder follow suit.

Remember: I am not explicitly talking about films put onto streamers. I am talking wide-releases in actual theaters. Same thing goes for games: Carmageddon, Duke Nukem, Manhunt, Six Days In Fallujah (with their original concept), Hatred, and so on and so forth. Of course, I'd be inclined to mention most tactical shooters like Rainbow Six and Joint Ops as well, due to cultural sensitivity regarding *who* you are shooting and why.

And not all of it is bad (obviously). Tastes change, and perspectives change to fit the demographic.
I should add that I'm a lefty, living in L.A. Working in film.

thorstein36d ago

The Boys, Invincible, Jojo Rabbit, Deadpool, Gen V, Last of Us, Banshee... There are plenty of media being made today that people will claim "can't be made today".

Profchaos36d ago

Yeah but if you consider manhunt which was basically a snuff film could you seriously make that game with high than PS2 era graphics.

thorstein35d ago

The Outlast Trials just came out.

But the storyline of Manhunt was that you were executed. But then lived. And if you didn't do as you were told, you'd die. And the people you killed were not innocents.

It was all filmed by a psychopath.

As we speak GTA VI is being finished up for a release. You get to play a Bonnie and Clyde type of protagonist who run up against the law.

Bodycam looks so real.

People are making those games. Articles like this will always exist no matter how incorrect they are, no matter how many times they blame "them" for whatever it is "they" do to prevent "those" games from being made.

Number1TailzFan36d ago

The UK is the biggest junk country pandering to that nonsense as well, with laws against free speech and expression to match. It got so bad even Rowan Atkinson made a video on free speech about it.

Now the UK raises the age rating on harmless films like Mary Poppins, it's just a load of pansy weak ass nonsense.

MrDead36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

The right wing Tories have been in power in the UK for the 14 years you know the ones that are "anti-woke", blame them for your perceptions.

Killer2020UK36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Are these snowflakes in the room with us now?

This is more faux outrage designed to get hits. The consequences are unfortunately creating hysteria amongst those willing to buy into it and blame "them" or "the left" or "liberals" meanwhile the left are kicking off about genocide, actual real world abhorrent acts. Nobody is campaigning to censor this shit.

Huey_My_D_Long36d ago

Not too mention the fact that some of these game are controversial for you know, underage porn and encouraging rape.

So either the guy just came in to comment snowflakes without reading anything, or he is calling people snowflakes for having a problem with said titles. Crazy how much brain rot someone can have.

banger8837d ago

Dead Island: "The early PC version of the zombie game swapped the playable character Purna’s Gender Wars skill with a prototype name, which shouldn’t be mentioned directly. The skill name made fun of both Purna as a character and feminists."

"Feminist Whore" lmao

gold_drake36d ago

ill add one more to the list.
drakengard 1.

its ridiculous tho, especially since they'd still be able to find their place in alot of places in the world. except america of course ha. and maybe Australia.

ppl are so sensitive these days. ha. but it is what it is.

Barlos36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

They're not offensive.

And we need another Fat Princess. Fantastic little game!

Some people just have no sense of humour if this sort of thing offends them. They need to lighten up and stop taking themselves so seriously.

Deeeeznuuuts36d ago

Would love a new fat princess game 🤟

CantThinkOfAUsername36d ago

Games literally about sexual assault, mass genocide, bombing civilians, and school shooting. None of which is satirical.

isarai36d ago

Actually it's about fat princesses

Huey_My_D_Long36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Its crazy that people are fixated on Fat princess when clearly the list is going over controversies, and not all of them are equal. Like way worse examples but pretend the entire list is like that.

Left 4 Dead Writer Explains The Drawbacks Of Releasing Games In Early Access

He wants to launch all his projects initially through close beta.
