as for me, I don't give a f**k about PS3 being first or last, I bought my launch 60 GB knowing I'm going to play a lot of games, and have not regret it so far. in other words, I got it for gaming not for Sony. now looking back at what I'm missing from games perspective by not buying a 360 is only Halo 3 and Gears 1 and 2. and to be honest non of them can justify buying a 360. This article claims Sony came into E3 in a huge position of weakness. Where's the proof? The facts show the PS3 has been catching on far faster then the 360 did. 23 million in 2 1/2 years versus the 360's 19 million. And even despite the year advantage the 360 had, both console still sell neck and neck. 2007, 2008 were virtual ties. So far in 2009 only 190,000 consoles separate the two. Right there the guy shows he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

PS2 outselling the PS3? OMG! That's terrible, isn't it? Well no, it's not. The PS2 is only $100 and has an outstanding library. Of course it's still selling versus a console at $400/$500. And it's more money in Sony's pocket. How on earth is this a bad thing? No one is walking into the store, looking to buy a PS3 and walking out with a PS2. They aren't even targeted at the same market. It's idiocy to even suggest that's a problem.

Does the PS3 cost too much? In some people's eyes, and yet again...it's still selling neck and neck with the 360 at almost double the price. Many would say that fact kinda leans toward there not being much of a problem at all, if any.

Don't worry guys this guy is a Sony fan. He gives it away. He says multiplats look better on ps3. Even most hardcore Sony fanboys are reasonable enough to admit multiplats are better looking on xbox360 (even though they will have a reason it looks better). But that said, these things are obvious
1 Sony will still do gaming.
2 Sony Will drop the price.
3 Because Sony drops the price the sales will increase more on PS3 than on 360 for the same reason.
In other words they both drop $100 but Sony gets more sales.
One reasons Sony will get more sales is there are more loyal PS2 owners than loyal xbox(1) owners to upgrade.
A second reason is PS3 now starts $400 and xbox360 starts at $200, meaning there will be people that just plan could not afford it now on PS3 xbox360 will still have a starting point of 200, unless the arcade version gets a price drop too.
The third reason is there will be more xbox360 owners that can get a second console(ps3), than there will be PS3 owners that will now be able to get a second console(xbox360).

Sony desperately needs to drop their price if they hope to remain competitive. They have great games but no one wants to pay $400 to play them except hardcore gamers. I hope the new ps3 slim is real and I really hope they don't do something stupid like release a new ps3 without a price cut. Because that's still a very big posssibility. Sony wants to start profiting and the only way to do that is to release a new ps3 and keep the price the same. Butnif they do this than the chance of them ever catching up to the 360 will dissapear completely.

Seriously, what are you basing that statement on? We know the PS3 sold more since it's been on the market then the 360 did in the same time. We know it's averaging more consoles sold then the 360 when you consider how long each has been out. And the PS3 is doing all this at a much higher price. How is that not staying competitive? Even so far in 2009, with the 360 at half the price the difference between the two consoles is only 190,000 in the first 6 months according to the official numbers from each company.

The coming price cut will provide a nice boost, but saying that it's not competitive at the moment isn't back up by the facts.

At the start of a new console cycle everyone starts at zero. It is no differnt for Sony in the PS2 era it is no different in the PS3 era. Who honestly expected Sony to get 70% of current gen market within 3 years?. If it took Sony 8 years with the PS2 to get 70% of last gen console market, what makes you smart people think Sony should achieve this within 3 years with a price from 400-600?. You guys also do know that the PS2 launched at 299 and the PS3 is still 399 right?. Even I as a hardcore PS fan never expected Sony to achieve get 70% this early. The PS2 launched against the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast was all but dead when the PS2 launched thanks to Sony's very aggressive marketing campaign. The Xbox and Gamecube launched one year after the PS2 which pretty much had the market to themselves. At the end of PS2's first year they were close to the 10 million mark. By the end of their second year they already had a sales base higher than the Gamecube or Xbox had in their lifetimes.

I'm not sure why people remember things differently, but if it's any indication the records the Wii is breaking are set by the PS2. The games sucked for the first year, but system sales were setting records.

yeah I agree themyk. I visit N4G because it does bring some news and it's comedy reading comments and retarded articles. And it always amazes me of how much people are misinformed yet firmly believe their misinformation.

I also miss those days of buying a game because of the game cover, or there only being a few publications of gaming news and only a couple of previews before a game actually comes out so the whole game isn't spoiled by the time you get your hands on it. I remember I started reading Gamepro with Battletoads/Double Dragon on the cover...and that was practically all there war besides EGM and GameInformer. And this was the early 90s, like 1993. The gaming media now is just so scrambled and messed up nowadays. A game or a system these days is either on its highest high or its lowest low, there's no in-between. It's either AAA or a FLOP!! For me personally DRE was a bigger problem than RRoD. Three DREs, none repaired for free vs. 2 RRoDs, both repaired for free. The second one was repaired nearly one month out of warranty, for free. Fact is Sonys customer service literally laughed at me and Microsoft took care of me.

If you look at those games you can see they look different than the photorealistic games we play. It is often used in cartoons.

Xbox has 8 million more consoles sold than the PS3, and I wonder how many of those are due to the fact that people had to rebuy a console after their 1st, 2nd or 3rd one broke.

When you get down to it, multiplatform games sell just about equally now for both the PS3 and 360. Imo, both consoles now are on an even playing field.

Where MS has the advantage is in marketing, they are a marketing juggernaut no doubt. Where Sony has a slight advantage is with exclusives. During the lifecycle of the PS2 Sony built a great relationship with devs and we are now seeing the fruits of their labor in the 2009-2010 lineup of games while MS has a bleak lineup with no great new titles coming anytime soon.

While I own only a PS3, I do have to admit multiplats for the PS3 don't look as good as the 360, only because they are ports. When you take a title like Bioshock which wasn't a port,it looked noticably better on the PS3.

Sony is has not fallen, it's just not selling as much as that cheap crappy gimmicky wii or the overrated and overadvertised Xbox. And just because they're in 3rd place doesn't mean anything. They're only about 7-8 millon units behind the 360 in sales.
Also, sales don't mean quality. Sony has the best games, features, but they have the worst advertising, so that's why they're in 3rd.

What I love about these Sony is going to fail articles is how quickly the Xbots jump to agree whether the points are valid or not. I have realized a long time ago that dispite what Xbox owners say about not being biased and claiming that they have nothing personal against Sony,I realize that they want Sony to fail.
