Agree with a bunch, but I think the original Fable needed to be in that top ten. FF 12 didn't exactly suck that hard. No more than most money grabbing ploys nowadays ;)

Hands down the lamest ending I've ever seen.

Synopsis: Kill the boss. "Let's get out of here!" Dive into an underwater tunnel, swim, surface. Ah, a sunset. Roll credits.

I'm not exaggerating. The whole thing took less than 30 seconds. Worst ending to a game, ever, far as I'm concerned.

Definately Jericho should be on the list. It was terrible!
I was maybe one of the few who really liked the game and thats probably why it isn't on the list, but man the ending was clearly designed with a sequel in mind.

Had by far the worst endinging I've ever seen. Here's how it went down.

After beating the Helicopter, you run across the tennis court to confront Gabe (who betrayed you). Oncde you move close enough to him, you sit frozen in first person and watch an in-game conversation between you and Gabe. After about 2 minutes of the most rediculously generic conversation you'll ever hear, you simply pull out your pistol and shoot him square in the face. Well, I shot him in the face with the Raging Bull, but the guy in the video didn't. It's definately the funniest ending ever. It tries so hard to be serious but fails miserably.

ya the end was sweet i think. on the hardest mode you get up and kill everyone then run outside and smoke dude in the wheelchair....that was hard....one of my proudest achievements I unlocked.

Aww you still havne't bought/played Bioshock, boo! It has a trippy ending. I think one of the best endings is in Assassin's Creed, many may not agree, but you have to give it credit at least they had a story line unlike most games on the Xbox 360.

I hated the endin (when Mr 47 dies) i sold it the very next day in utter disgust - but then 5 months later (talkin about it at work) sum dude told me that theres a different endin where Mr 47 gets up and kills every1 in the room it was SUCH a relief

Yeah i did - he died - i cried - sold it - then i was told about the other endin - bought it again - did it like i was told and was really happy that i (Mr47) could get up and kill every1 in the room - i was REALLY happy :-)

the biggest problem with Dead Space was that it had an ending. i just wanted it to go on and on and on...

what i would love to see is a dead space rpg... could they pull it off, mix rpg with sci-fi horror? i would love to see them try.

I personally think that the Half Life one was a trip. I do hate how they end each game. Hopefully sometimes in our life times we'll see the conclusion to the games series.

Man I agree with Halo 2. Man that game had a jaw dropping bad ending because they said they didnt have enough time to finish the game. I honestly think Halo 3had kinda of a bad ending. But one Game that was packed full of fun but didnt finish well was Fable II..

dead rising had the most unfulfilling ending ... i had a blast playing that game and it was hectic ... 3 days of just killing zombies in a hundred different ways, rescuing dumb npc survivors and killing super hard psychos with pistols...

after finding a cure for the infection escaping the mall from the tunnels blowing up a tank and fist fighting with the general on top of the tank wrekage ... the game ended with a TEXT on the screen !!! ... a freaking text telling me i successfully escaped and found out what happened!!!... all in a onw line text... i was so pissed!

In Fahrenheit, the whole sci-fi like story twist towards the end sucked.

But it is already confirmed that they won't go crazy this time with Heavy Rain and keep it grounded, which is nice.

What in the holy hell is the basis for this? The end of that statement I agree with though, "...and the endings are not that bad..."

Even with a year head start, I believe the 360 has fewer exclusives and fewer good exclusives than the PS3; PC port = not exclusive.

You would be suprised. When you total up the games for 360 that are exclusive due to many coming out before the Ps3 and never getting a conversion, Mircosoft console takes the win.

The Ps3 has a ton of exclusives coming up so, it has plenty of oppertunities to create some awful endings.

I think the author saw he was putting top 360 exclusives - and timed exclusives - on the list and not PS3 exclusives, and he had to say why...without just outright saying PS3 exclusive titles are better.

He was correct in assuming he'd be called a fanboy (likely by actual fanboys) and incorrect in thinking his explanation would work in dispelling such accusations.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't - fanboy accusations are the Salem Witch Trials of N4G. (Immediately thinks of Torrance Davis).

He didn't need to point that out, and he certainly shouldn't of said that the ps3 doesn't have many exclusives. Just leave it be. Maybe people notice but who cares? Just say later that so far ps3 exclusives have ended well.

The only bad thing about the article was what he said. it was a good entertaining read, but then he kind of made it a ps3 vs. 360 thing.

R2's last cutscene playing

Capeli gets out of ship, see Hale standing there

Me: "What the Hell is Hale doing just standing there?"

Camara pans to the sky

Me: "Oh F*** me... What the hell is that?" ( I still have no idea )

Hale: " Cant you see it... its beautiful" (I see Hales Face... and fall out of my chair, get myself back into chair)

Me: " Damn... sucks for him... would not want to be Capeli."

Capeli pulls out his gun!

Me: " Oh S***! He wouldnt!"

Capeli: "Sorry Sir. Its been an honor." pulls the triger. fades to black

Me: (I jump out of my chair)"WHAT THE F*** JUST HAPPEND! WHAT IS IN THE F***ING SKY AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, CAPELI... WHAT THE F***!!!!"

The next day:

Me: "Well that ending kinda sucked, guess my questions will be awnsered in Resistance 3.... Well at least I know that Gears of War 2's ending wont be that bad. Well time to go finish that game."

Oh the irony of that week. It was just a week of bad endings.

He, pshchoninja! Did prety much the same(except I was saying to myself from halfway in that there was no way Hale would be "human" for R3!)myaelf but, more than most games bith Gears2 and R2 exist just to facilitate the thrid game in the trilogies.

Could NOT believe the pissy weak ending for Gears2 though-after Raam in the first game you expected something badass and NOT something you couldn't help but kill(seriously you just can't lose)with a weapon you conveniently got five mins earlier! Very weak end to a great game.

Resistance2 is also a vastly underrated game imo-the online and co-op also gave it legs and I still play it today(still very busy too and as ever really good for lack of lag)but that ending was pants as you just KNOW Hale will be the boss at the end of the next game somehow. I don't wanna play as bloody Capelli either so I hope the posh English bird is back and playable this time-missed her narration from the first game as well.

basically the thing in the sky is what you were suposed to stop being brought through via the beacons...

Bioshock is one of my most favorite games of all time, but if you played the other two games that were made by the guys who made Bioshock, then you basically saw the Bioshock ending coming from a mile away. System Shock and System Shock 2 both have the player following the instructions of a computer AI only to be betrayed by it (or something like that). Bioshock has the player following Atlas for the entire game only to be betrayed by it. The end of Bioshock is abrupt.

2K games didn't need to have that cutscene at the end, detailing the entire life of the main character. All it needed to show was the main character and the little sisters and Doctor Tenebaum escaping from Rapture with a Biosphere and that's it. That would be, for me, a proper ending. No fluff at the end.

i didn't find bioshocks ending particularly good. it was "meh".
i thought the ending for KZ2 was a little lame.(the only thing about the game i didn't like!) i know the story isn't over but seemed a little lackluster compared to the intensity of the game. the ending for halo 3 i thought was a MAJOR cop-out and very lame.(i guess they can't kill off the guy who keeps the 360 afloat) and, now that RE5 has come out........RE4 ending made no sense to me. why didn't RE5 pick up where 4 ended?(maybe i'm missing something here) and along these lines.......ratchet:aCiT better have some answers to all the questions left unanswered in ToD. the ToD ending drove me crazy. too many things left unanswered.

the ending that left me really stoked was the ending for GOW2......man, kratos is pissed!!!

I don't play many old games but the IDEAL ending would be an ending that offers closure to the story you played but also leaves it open... Resistance is a good example of this.

Resistance 1 ending with the U.K being saved, but your left with the question what about the U.S and Hale?
Resistance 2 explained what happens to Hale and the U.S(it's attacked) but leaves what happens next and your allways left with what are the cloven?

I didn't care too much for Fable 2's ending. Fallout 3's ending just let me down. Resistance 2 was sort of like a disappointing surprise.

100% agree with halo 2. Halo 2 was probably one of the biggest disapointments for me ever that game was hyped that much and they showed that cork screw demo at E3 years ago and it was like Street Fighting, shooting through windows etc and it looked fast and exciting. And they completly took it out. The first couple of levels in halo 2 when you were on earth were soo dull and then you get fired onto another halo ring. Then i thought halo 3 was gonna make up for it from that advert they showed with the halo figures and it was making out like there was gonna be a huge battle but no. It never happend again you were stuck in some random place in africa which again was soo dull and the ending of halo 3 was pretty much taken from Halo:CE halo 2 & 3 were the biggest disapointments ever i dont think they will ever match the quality of Halo:CE

I did like Killzone 2's ending for the most part, it's ok to leave it open for a sequel, but at least leave it on a high point to get you pumped. Like the ending to the movie Masters of the Universe with Dolph Lundren where Skeletor emerges from the water and yells "i'll be back". Or in the original Street Fighter when Bison's hand busts out of the debris and clicks on the world domination icon. All open to sequels but all kicking ass at the same time. (although they did happen after the credits rolled so I doubt that counts as the ending)

I think one last final shot of Sev loading his gun then cutting to black would have been better than the fade to black that they had. Usually when the final shot involves the main character, it tends to enhance the ending.

Was it a disappointing ending? For me somewhat(although killing Radec was one of the funest and coolest boss battles I have played in the last 5 years.) And Visari's little rant at the end was epic too. But the absolute last 20 seconds did suck.

But was it a BAD ending. No way, no how. I liked how the ending was executed. Disappointing and bad have two very different meanings. Killzone 2 had a better ending then most games this gen.

But did it have a dumb story ending, a bad last boss battle, and less then 30 second cutscene for the ending? In my opinion it didn't have any of those.

Should it have ended on a higher note like a big explosion or another nuke going off? maybe, but then again I don't think the devs would have made that scene if they weren't comfortable with it.

I quite liked the last boss battle and ending. A lot better then Resistance 2's or Gears of War 2's endings.

just one problem, wesker isn’t dead… if you look closely the two rpg’s miss his head and are muffled by the lava, which the game obviously showed us isn’t enough to kill him since his mutation…. trust me we’ll be seeing him again sometime in the future. they just needed to finally give the fans that boss battle with the man with the plan, so they did…
