The "stolen" pictures of a supposed PS3 Slim have been seen all around the world, you've seen them on Ultimate PS3. After we received threats following the publication of these pics, our staff has investigated and reveals the trickery. Reason why they will take this site over you: it's a way to character assassinate someone who's revealed a LOT of good things for the PS3 and Sony (and Sony trusts you to keep things under wraps, unlike some people *coughKotakucough*), and that is something that the other side really doesn't like. They also don't want the PS3 to succeed because they want to justify why they don't have one yet. They want their precious 360 to win every single battle, and this slim thing will be a HUGE detriment towards that.

Like someone mentioned earlier, it's possible that these people know what the PSP GO box looks like and used it as a template. The article said some of these people works in factories in China, maybe they have access to or know people who works in Sony's factories?

I don't know if I thought tis was real or not-that's not important anyway-but I do think a slim PS3 is on the card sooner in PS3 lifetime than we saw in PS2's. Already they're trying to squeeze cosys down by halving the suppliers (of PS parts)so a jump to making a slim isn't too much of a stretch for my mind.

As for Sev-lots of sites and people far more experienced than he and his have been fooled by this(and also by far less likely things in the past)so if we're to ignore what he says are we also striking off everyone else who ever felt a rumour was(incorrectly)true? Runs like a mack truck driving a 1 person shuttle to work everyday. my PS2 only draws like <40 watts when playing a game. My PS3 draws over 120 with no game loaded. It'd be nice to see a lower power draw and cooler unit.

Doesn't make any sense to make a ps3 slim, ps2 slim came out 5-6 years after the first ps2. Sony wouldn't make any new sku's when they need to sell current ones. They could price drop the 40gb then sell those off. Ps3 slim is about as real as Duke Nukem Forever.

So... somehow I think the pics are real to an extent.

Why?

Well every site that posted them got an NDA, which is strange.

I believe Sev has seen the Go! (at least pics) and therefore I believe what he says regarding the product logos etc.

Why only to an extent?

Well China loves to infringe, and this could be just that.

Also the shape of the product itself is odd, ugly.... so perhaps this is an actual test market internal photo?? A prototype?

Either way, I completely believe the Slim is real. Hands down 100% true, the pics? Well, time will tell wont it?

Out of boredom I'll debunk the article, point by point. Though I do find it hard to understand why anyone takes every link on N4G as gospel when no verification, credibility or evidence is presented.

1) This is a website with little authority or history on insider imformation. No journalistic credibility.

2) No new pictures. Fake revelations usually come with new photos to prove the source and brag. The only photos that exist are actually scans from a printed source. Where are the actual photos the alleged fakers took? Have they 'lost' them?

3) This is the killer: The photos/scans show injection moulded components. To create such components involves a lengthy and costly process. First you need to create CAD designs (I'm simplifying this process for brevity). Then your CAD data will be used to design the tooling that will be used to machine the injection mould. The injection moulds are blocks machined from allow metals, usually in at least 2 parts, but usually more.

This process involves numerous people with varying skills, and is the most costly part of manufacturing such components. And I've not yet mentioned the actually injection moulding process!

So these alleged fakers claim the hardest part was smuggling a camera phone into a factory in which they would have spent months, many thousands of dollars and numerous members of staff just to create an internet joke. Sure.

THIS is a real story on a credible website. THIS is a story on a site that other sites of authority trust and report.

So what we have on the French site cheap link bait. It's unsubstantiated nonsense. It's a flawed hoax.
