Capcom Quiet on Street Fighter IV Patch

Capcom previously revealed plans to boost Street Fighter IV's multiplayer mode with a huge free Championship mode expansion shortly after launch but, despite the game having been out for over a week, there's still no ETA on the patch's release.

The new patch, as previously reported, is expected to expand the multiplayer portion of the game with an enhanced Tournament matchmaking system, a new points ranking system and the ability to record, play back and upload fight replays.

Sounds great, but don't hold your breath because Capcom was still unable to give CVG an estimated release for it this morning.

this patch is supposed to come with the PS home Patch as well I believe

I want all the above for online matches because it simply takes too long to get a match going.

Second, I want Seth's difficulty to be more than just beatable on easiest to super cheesy on medium and higher. I know I'm going to get spammed and told to "man up" and "stop bishing" but the guy is almost impossible, in my opinion, on medium and higher. If you beat him 10x and got perfects each time with a completely different character every time than kudos to you. You are amazing.

PirateThom5542d ago

I'm not a fighter buff, but on easiest, there's no way Seth should be able to kick my ass so thoroughly, when I'm able to put up good fights against the other characters on other difficulties.

JohnnyMann4205542d ago

I don't really agree with that because Seth is the "end boss" of the game.

Also, his pattern (no matter how annoying) is still a pattern and not too difficult to figure out.

I know a lot of folks would disagree with me, but once you figure out Seth...he is kinda easy.

xionpunk5542d ago

@ Johnny : You're right, its all about knowing the pattern, but you have to admit the easiest difficulty should be scaled way down. I beat the game on hardest and sometimes couldn't tell the difference (Seth's difficulty seems to vary depending on the character?)

I don't have a big problem with it now though, actually it helped me get better at the game.

LastDance5542d ago

when you realise how to block and or counter all of seths moves then he is easy.

Basically, he has 2 or at the most 3 moves for any given position.

for instance, long range, he will sonic boom, jump off the wall towards you or dahlsim long punch. If he does the last one jump in a get him while hes doing it.

It's really as simple as understanding his pattern, and dont do stupid crap like jump into him when he is doing nothing waiting to hadduken yo a$$

JohnnyMann4205542d ago

On easiest you can just foot sweep Seth the whole time!

Annoying?...yeah! Hard? ...Hell no!

If you are a SF newbie, forgive me. This post isn't meant for you necessarily.

That patch sounds great, hope it comes sooner rather than later.

Now if they can only build into it the option to turn off the cheesy J-pop song (and perhaps murder the singer while they're at it) without turning off the rest of the music, that would greeeeeat.

Nathaniel_Drake5542d ago

So will the patch have spectating mode where you can have more than two people in a room and those other people wait in the room until the other 2 are done and they challenge the winner, is that the new tournament matchmaking system they are talking about or is that a totally new issue?

bloop5542d ago

My only gripe with SF IV is the speed. I wish they'd release a patch that you can change game speed. Online fights can be a bit of a pain in the ass. I've had fights where someone has hit me a couple of times, retreated to a corner and just sat out the rest of the round just waiting for you to jump in so they can uppercut. If the game was faster, this wouldn't be as much of a problem. It's too easy for campers when they have so much time to react.

How Street Fighter IV Saved 2D Fighting Games (Ft. Maximilian Dood)

After Street Fighter II released in in 1991, it caused a fighting game explosion, both in arcades and in home consoles. But, as the decade ended, and arcades were failing, so too were 2D Fighting games. This is how Street Fighter IV completely revitalized the genre.

I'd say Blazblue helped too. Didn't care for Street Fighter 4, but Blazblue was amazing during that time. Sad that the series kind of went downhill after the first 2 or 3 games though.

DarXyde321d ago

BlazBlue was phenomenal. Platinum'd Calamity Trigger because I loved it so much. I remember buying Continuum Shift back in the day at launch for like $40. They did have DLC characters (Valkenhayne, Makoto, and Platinum at the time) and it came out to just a tad more than it would at full price. Didn't mind at all.

Great fighting game.

Snookies12321d ago

Continuum Shift was definitely my favorite. Spent way too many hours on that game, haha... Had the counters for days with Hakumen.

DarXyde321d ago

I really like Makoto, Valkenhayne, and Hazama. Super fun characters

Terry_B321d ago

Valkenhayn ..just sayin'

Terry_B322d ago

BlazBlue was the much better, more technical game..and a real 2D Fighting Game after all. But yes, since it was a big name..the characters were still popular and the game itself was good, SFIV indeed helped a lot. However, I am pretty sure the much better-selling Mortal Kombat 9 would have been done without SFIV as well..and that one truly helped to make the fighting game genre in general more popular again.

Ryuha1234h321d ago

You’re sound dumb. Blazblue was not better than sf4. You’re just saying that because you’re a street fighter hater.

Redgrave321d ago

>calls someone dumb
>does it by saying "you're sound dumb"

Task failed successfully

Terry_B321d ago

A SF Hater eh? Fight me in SF 2,3 4 or 5 and you will regret that stupid comment ;)

gold_drake321d ago (Edited 321d ago )

eyyy max xD

one of the very few streamers i can actually watch without it being cringe and awful ha.

GhostScholar321d ago

The content of IV was severely lacking when it launched. It got better over time.

Street Fighter Producer Says Fans Need To "Convince" Nintendo, If They Want More Entries On Switch

they botched SFV so bad, just start over, make a new version with proper single player mode and fully fleshed out with support for all of the consoles this time.

King91653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

Gamer7804@ they already did kinda it call sf5ae it help sf5 sell like another 2 million copies.

Teflon021652d ago

SFV is actually great now. Bunch of modes, bunch of characters, alot of stages, not sure what else there is to even complain about. Costume MTX? Not a issue imo, I don't get what I don't want anyways

gamer78041652d ago

botched launch, and they launched only on one console and currently after a long time still on one console.

Enigma_20991653d ago

Did you see how Ultra and the Collection sold? We don't need to convince Nintendo of anything. Just put it on the console.PHYSICALLY.

King91653d ago

Enigma_2099@ they probably have to make a new sf game just for the switch they probably will need Nintendo to help fund it just like sony help fund sf5.

PhoenixUp1653d ago

You’re not seeing Street Fighter V come to other platforms besides PC because Sony helped co-fund the game so it’s staying only on PS4 & PC

NapalmSanctuary1652d ago (Edited 1652d ago )

Don't know why anybody would want SF5 on Switch. Especially if they owned a Switch.

rainslacker1653d ago

That doesn't makes sense. Is Nintendo saying that Capcom can't publish the game on the system because it's users don't want the game? if so, that's really stupid of them, because why should they care?

Nintendo isn't saying such things of course.

Capcom shouldn't pass the buck. If they don't want to make more SF games on the Switch, then just say so, and say why.

If they want Nintendo to fund the project, then they are the ones that need to convince Nintendo to give them money.
