Then there's a ton on the Wii, and PC. In fact, PS3 is the only one that has not had an exclusive from EA.

on the day of mass effect's reviews, it received more criticism from lots of ps3 gamers, from it's long boring dialog system down to it's technical flaws.

I wish EA would just confirm that ME2 is coming to the PS3 or it's not coming to the PS3.

Since Mass Effect 2 isn't coming until 2010, it does really make me think that there will be a PS3 version because it will give Bioware/EA plenty of time to complete a PS3 version if it's already been considered.

With EA owning Bioware now, I really don't see how ME2 wont come to the PS3 day and date with the 360 version unless M$ pays for timed exclusivity. Since ME2 is supposed to be at GDC, I guess we'll definantly know the status of the game by then, but I do think that ME2 will be coming to the PS3 because almost literally everything under EA is multiplatform.

They are not legally permitted to announce the PS3 version due to a contract.
As little of an impact as it would most likely have on sales of the 360, MS will do everything in it's power to prevent any cannibalizing of their market share. It's good business for corporations, but in the end the gamers do suffer.

EA haven't denied anything, and being EA... Mass Effect on PS3 is in no shape or form "crazy talk"

it's a third party game from a strictly multiplatform publisher coming in during a time of economical hardship (especially for EA who made a $640m loss last year)... and thus has like an 80-90% of going to the PS3... the only thing stopping it is MS money.... development problems wouldn't stop it, BioWare are already working with PS3 hardware with Dragon Age: Origins

but then again MS had to make serious cuts in their games division and perhaps paying for third-party exclusives (money which they will never see again) isn't a strategy they are favoring to anymore

PS3 will get this game, but probably not until 6 months to a year after it's released on the 360. Microsoft has very few internal studios, so they're forced to buy up as many multiplatform titles as they can. And even worse, they have the cash resources to do so.

It's actually because Microsoft does this that Sony Worldwide Studios has been forced to create new IPs that they own the rights to. It's more difficult, but cheaper and adds much more value to their platform.

Potentially 30~50% of their sales for this title? That's a ridiculous business decision, and EA thrives on good business decisions. Also, it's important to take into account that 360 titles don't always sell better on 360. For example, GTA IV had a higher attach rate on PS3, and other games like Tomb Raider and Devil May Cry ended up selling few units on 360.

Microsoft would probably have to pony up a good $150 million to properly compensate EA, just for losses due to Timed Exclusivity.

You forget most of the PS3 revenue and profit comes from Europe. The European economy is completely f*cked and the dollar is only going to get stronger.

Also with ME being exclusive to the 360 marketing deals would benefit EA. Also, the reason why EA is losing money in the first place is because of their multiplatform policy. Left4Dead cost bugger all to make and outsold Mirrors Edge and Dead space on the PS3 combined.

Overall, the Xbox 360 is EA's #1 breadwinner by a sizable margin compared to all other consoles. Basically, if MS wants one game out of EA's library to be exclusive then it will be exclusive. Also, the X360 single-handedly saved EA's Q2 of Fiscal year 2009.

This is how the PS2 got so many exclusives from 3rd parties without Sony having to pay a dime-- by being the #1 breadwinner. If Sony fanboys still want to live in the past and think that EA will cross battle lines for a 3rd place console with a low attach rate then maybe they can play Mass Effect 2 in their dreams while they're at it.

The first year of PS3 multiplatform titles sucked because Unreal Engine (PS3 version) was still very new and unpolished. It's understandable that PS3 owners weren't happy with those crappy titles (Area 51 and Stranglehold come to mind), and some blamed Epic for not improving the engine in time for PS3 usage.

But the engine's well over two years old now and runs perfectly fine on PS3, and over three years old 360 and PC. Developers are pretty happy with the engine now, so I'll take their word for it.

You and I both know the UE was bashed mainly because it was very successful engine used in many great 360 games, first and foremost because of Gears success....there are countless old comments from sony loyalists bashing it saying it wasn't a great Engine and that its been over-used in the industry and hell even worst some proclaimed ME itself wouldn't be that great because it was using UE. Dev's have always said great things about the engine, only Too Human devs I ever heard had a real substanstial problem with it, early games like Stranglehold sucked because of the learning curve of dev'ing with the system itself, not because the Engine was flawed.....its just convenient that with the potential of the game coming to ps3 you would NOW somehow believe that its a great engine for 360/ps3, according to devs, right? i would say MS should keep Mass Effect exclusive to the PC/360, because otherwise if they lose this and Valve starts going multi along with EA, it's over for the 360.

I just don't see it coming out unless they port ME over too. They will lose sales expecting the PS3 owners to start the story on ME II. Similar thinking went into Bioshock I'm sure (Yes, I know Bioshock isn't EA). They were coming out with #2 and wanted that multiplatform but wanted to get #1 in the PS3 owners hands first.

It doesn't matter if this game comes to the ps3 or not. I own both consoles, but the thing is that EA lost half a billion dollars last year. The only way it isn't coming to the ps3 is if EA was doing well. But its not. Trust me, this game will be multiplatform. I dont see why it wouldn't be multiplatform? Its a third party game. They lost half a billion dollars last year. It would only be logical to understand that this game needs to be multiplatform because the ps3 has enough people who own the console to justify it coming. the big deal is porting to ps3 costs truckloads more than just a pc/360 title. It may just be too much of a risk to port ps3 considering how much money they lost last year. You may say it will be successful but your not the one fronting the cash for it.
