Jaffe: Game Awards Shouldn't Ape Oscars

God of War and Calling All Cars creator David Jaffe says that the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences should stop trying to ape the Oscars with the Interactive Achievement Awards.

Jaffe, who is a long-time movie buff as well as a game maker, argued in his blog that the IAAs need to find their own niche and not follow the well-worn path of the 79-year-old Oscars.

"…The Oscars used to mean something to me," he wrote. "But now, while the Oscars are still kind of cool, they are mostly lame and silly and pretentious."
