IGN:Killzone 2 Review

Is it possible for the hype of a game to completely fuel both its designers and its fans eagerly awaiting its release? In the case of Guerrilla Games' upcoming Killzone 2, the answer is an emphatic yes; the developers knew that they wanted to meet or surpass the action of the now infamous E3 trailer and have been trying to perfect their anticipated shooter. As far as fans were concerned, they were hoping that Killzone 2 would be the system seller and showcase for the PlayStation 3 -- a game that could conceivably rival that of Halo and Gears of War. Fortunately, the wait is almost over, because Killzone 2 will be released at the end of next month. That might seem a bit far away, but believe me when I say that the wait has been well worth it. Killzone 2 is an outstanding evolution of the franchise, a bullet and adrenaline-fueled rampage against an implacable enemy and a fantastic shooter for the PS3.

This is a truly awesome score.

Remember - Killzone 2 is being scored relative to the hype, whereas many other games with less hype are given higher scores relative to their quality.

For those complaining about the 9.5 graphics, you must realize this. Gears 2 was compared against other THIRD PERSON SHOOTERS and in that graphical department for that genre it is by far the best. Killzone 2 is being compared graphically against other FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS and it is second only to Crysis/Crysis Warhead. You have to remember FPS doesn't equal TPS and they are not likely on the same graphical reviewing scale. But regardless good review for a sure to be great game.

I don't care for that review really. It's like IGN was scared to give any part of Killzone 2 a 10. I'm not talking about the overall score but look at things like gameplay and sound. Why so low on sound? I haven't read the review yet but I'm sure at least a couple sections could have been given a 10.

Actualy Ramant, that just shows how unfair the scoring is against PS3. They dont measure the Xbox360 against the same standards as they do the PS3.

Its almost like if a game like Fifa was on XB1 and on PS3. Both could be great games, both might get the same score of 9. But one would be better. If the PS3 version looked like the XB1 version, it wouldn't get nine and thats fair enough, but that shouldn't be taken into account for 360, they are both current gen consoles. The fact one is more powerful shouldn't give the weaker a handicap when they're current gen, competing console. If one is better the score should reflect it.

And please Halo 3 isn't in the same league as Killzone. like it all you want. My favourite 360 game is Tenchu. Note I said favourite which means I like it. I never pretended it was the best.

9.5 for Gears. Gears is a wonderful game...no doubt. But it had broken, glitchy multiplayer and a crap story.

According to this review...Killzone 2 has a good story, GREAT multiplayer, is about as long as Gears 2. Then it does things graphically that no game has ever done...not even Crysis.

Yet it gets the same to lower points in graphics and then overall scores a 0.1 lower. I mean, nothing major but still consistency would be nice with the scoring.

I hate it when people compare the score to other games' scores, the score is good whichever way you look at it. And comparing it to games like GeOW and Halo is ridiculous, cos those games scores were affected by hype, bias, and the fact that the games were already established IPs (obviously not for all review sites, but people cannot help putting their own subjectivity into reviews).

GeoW2 is not the best looking 3rd person shooter. MGS4 and Uncharted trump it. Also it is easier to make a 3rd person game look good because you are looking at everything from farther away. It is like in R2. When you look at a fight going on ahead of you it looks great, but once you get up close to everything it just doesn't look as good. More detail has to go into the textures of a FPS.

If the game had Co-op and longer vehicle sections, then it would have gotten 9.8

Gears got a 10 for graphics because IGN were probably comparing it to other 360 games and Gears has tapped the 360 to the max. KZ2 is on the superior platform with room for improvement (incredible I know) so didn't get quite as good a score. Really though, who cares? 9.4 is a great score and I can't wait to play it on the 27th.

First of all, it is moronic to compare scores of a 360 to a PS3 game since they are not scored against each other.

Secondly reviews work like this. They are scored based on how it goes AT THE TIME OF RELEASE.
Halo 3 was considered a 9.5 when it was released 3 years ago (?) going up against other 360 releases at the time.

Killzone 2 is scored against PS3 games released as of now.

If Halo 3 was reviewed again now, considering the releases of other top quality 360 games, it would not get a 9.5.

GTA4 got a 10 on graphics???!!! I can sit here all day coming up with games on both the xbox and ps3 that looked better than GTA4 but did not get a 10! That game is the absolute king of glitches, crashes etc. They even released 2 patches to fix its stability issues! Check on you tube for GTA4 issues you will see what I am talking about!.

In any rate this game by today's standards its the best looking game on a console, by far! And when a console game is near the level of the powerhog called Crysis that most PCs even today cry and sweat just to pull 60FPS (frames/second) that says a lot!

I do have to feel somewhat disappointed with the inconsistency of game reviews, though. It makes the whole review score thing kind of pointless. To give games like Resistance 2 and Gears 2 scores of 9.5 only a few months ago and then give Killzone 2 a 9.4 doesn't seem very consistent. I know I haven't played through the single player campaign, but just based off what I saw in the beta I find it very difficult to believe that Resistance 2 or Gears 2 deserves a better score.

Nevertheless, a very good score and a must-have game.

The biggest problem of this generation is not on the consoles or the games, they are fine, the problem lies in the media, and their relation to the voicer minority of fanboys.

This review by IGN just show the tip of the iceberg. How can anyone seriously give KillZone 2 a graphics score under Gears 2? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Gears look bad at all, but even a chimp can see KillZone too not only look much better but also is tech heavier compared to the Unreal Enguined Gears. We could argue that they strictly prefer Gears art direction, ugly aliens over basically armored humans, maybe they don't like glowing eyes. But do we know it? We don't even know how that bigger number come, remember the "Overall, not an average".

And from there comes our problem. Reviews never had been that much descritive about the reasons behind their numbers, without holding much responsability to it, we could much proper call those number of gut-feelings. But since gut feeling (review scores) are measureable, people will use it to compare games, even when they shouldn't (actually, there isn't nothing to choose here, a minority have both consoles and most of those have always been set to get both games, not to say Gears came some good months ago, if you wanted it, you probably already got, Killzone isn't the reason holding it, if anything is holding it).

And with a watching fan base (be it for the game or the console) being so vocal about reviews (the nearest thing to science of measure in games) those little incoerences just jump from the page to everybody that follow the media.

The time has come to reviewers and review specialized sites to decide if they will drop scoring and stay glued to opinios or if they'll try to overhaul the system to make it more technical (that if they ever decide to make anything).

For me, I say they should not only re-think the review system, but the totality of the media in this industry, it's just unprofessional, I know I was one of those guys that always followed the gaming journalism, now it don't carry half of the relevance it used to have (part because it got lamer, part because i grow in other interests and have learn what real journalism is), with this lame system and more and more biased journalists/reviewrs (I know nobody is or should be completelly impartial, but it's past the obvious favouritism, when we keep seing console A is doomed, game B won't match the hype, bash, bash and more bash) the only way I see things are going, if they stay the way they are, is down.

It's a 9.5, they didn't change anything, I read the review the day it was made.

And they gave KZ2 a 9.5 in the graphics because there were some technical issues that marred it. They don't go by best graphics but by the Overall graphical presentation.

They gave it a 9.4 because it "borrowed" heavily from COD4. IGN doesn't make up things to get more viewers or subscribers. Just the only thing that really puzzles me is that R2 was rated higher than KZ2.

So according to IGN, COD4>L4D>Halo3>R2> Gears2>KZ2 (yes COD4 got a 9.4 also but they nominated it for GOTY 2007, and it won best xbox 360 game, and L4D scored lower but was nominated for GOTY 2008 over R2 and gears 2. There you have it, that's IGN's opinion.

Just like Resistance 2 & Litlle Big Planet, Killzone 2 is over hyped and I doubt it'll live up to it. Call me a Fanboy if you want but I own a PS3 (PSN : MANO-FR) and played both games. Killzone 2 is just another shooter with good graphics, get that into your head and maybe then you might be able to enjoy the game for what it is : "you aim, you shoot", it's a FPS with really good graphics that's it.

Speaking as someone who owns Crysis and runs it on full with DX10...Killzone 2 surpasses it in many areas...especially the lighting. Crysis is gorgeous...but Killzone 2 is pretty evenly matched with it.

This is actually the UK rating of the game. IGN UK gave Resistance 2 an 8.2 and Gears of War 2 a 9.2 so Killzone 2 is rated higher than both from UK.

I know where you are coming from, but the problem with that theory is that Resistance 2 and Gears 2 only came out a couple a months ago and nothing has come along since then to raise the bar, so Killzone 2 should be compared directly to those current competitors.

It simply makes no sense to give Resistance 2 a 9 in the graphics department less than three months ago and then only give Killzone 2 a 9.5. when Killzone 2 is CLEARLY on a whole different level.

This is what makes people dissatisfied with the inconsistency of game reviews. If you saw the rating for two HDTVs that came out mere months from each other and one was given a rating of 9.5 and one was given a rating of 9.4, you would assume that the TV with the higher score was the better TV. It seems the gaming press can't seem to muster this kind of consistency.

Well folks, I think it's fair to say that IGN's status as the only "valid" or "credible" review source has been rattled by this one. There's no way Resistance 2 is better than Killzone 2, and if it is, then god help us all.

I think it's fair to say that IGN tried to dodge fanboy bullets and boycotts by forcing a neutral stance, doling out 9.5 scores arbitrarily to both Gears 2 and Resistance 2, to quell any fanboy surge resulting from any favourable leaning toward one game over the other. The fact of the matter is NEITHER GAME deserved a 9.5 score (not to mention how poorly written the R2 review was). IGN were simply too cowardly to say what they really thought. God forbid they should lose some precious traffic and ad revenue, eh?

I think this review of Killzone 2 has a legitimate opinion slapped on it, because it has no other game to compete with at launch. IGN don't have to pander to both sides of one argument this time, so they can be mostly honest about it. The thing is this: every single one of these websites is biased in some way. It just so happens IGN is biased toward the almighty dollar rather than any games companies.

Actually it was a great idea that MS paid $50 mill for GTA IV DLC. If you actually think about it - GTA IV sold around 3.2 million on the 360 - at $20 a pop for the DLC they just need to sell the content to about 2.5 million people. We are talking about GTA IV here right - not any other games. GTA IV was a big name game. NPD has it booked at around 3.2 million - obviously not including the rest of the world...so what do other games have to do with this?

MS saw a big name game that was once exclusive to the Sony name - they saw potential in the game and to offer exclusive DLC that they paid for - it was an investment and a smart one at that as you can see that there will be enough people that will DL the DLC and MS will not only get their money back but also profit from it.

Its business 101 but i wouldn't expect someone who is bitter about it because its not on there choice of console to understand it.

This shows from the recent lay offs in that division and the overall amount of suckage the 360 conveys. With out a doubt by 2011 there will be plenty more broken xbox 360's and plenty of cancelled live memberships.

Do you even know why games are stated as Halo Killers? I mean if you did, then you would realize your entire comment is irrelevant. Games are classified as Halo Killers because Halo set the standard and is one, if not the fastest selling franchises of all time. Also, Halo is one of the most mainstream games of all time and is revered as one of the most important games in gaming history, AS STATED by the reviewers. When a game is a Halo Killer, it means it will destroy it in:

Memorability
How mainstream it is

Goldeneye introduced shooters to the console market, and Halo made it mainstream and revolutionized it. And I don't even count CoD4 as a Halo Killer due to the fact that the game was released on PC/360/PS3. If Halo was on all 3, it would blow CoD away. Halo may not be the best shooter out there, but it is one of those games that will etch itself into your memories. And THAT is why Halo is so amazing.

Oh, so this game isn't the second coming of Christ. Wouldn't have known from going on this site the last couple of weeks.
Seems silly that they'd give Gears 2 higher for graphics when this is clearly better, and by more than just a small margin. Seems sillier that they gave Resistance 2 a higher score.

back to KZ2: in all the videos i've seen, the players rush through the game without enjoying the beautiful visuals. when i play Killzone 2 on launch day (ok, PS3 rented) or any other FPS, i sneak, sometimes even crouch, through the game. i think a game is more creepier when you're slow on the move.

anyway, my take on it is this: Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 are VERY different shooters. the Resistance series, both single and multi-player, have a very "arcadey" feel to the combat (that is, fast paced and "twitch"), and a more traditional Sci Fi element (humans battling aliens).

i got Resistance 2 during the same time i was in the KZ2 beta, and i could easily transition between the two, because they look, feel, and control very different from one another. we've been lead, because of the copycat mentality of the FPS genre on consoles, to believe that all FPS titles are the same. games like COD4, Resistance 2, Halo 3, and other quality FPS titles feel very similar. because they are trying to emulate mouse and keyboard controls on a controller. this has been the goal of EVERY FPS on consoles, until Killzone 1, which tried to emulate a more REALISTIC control scheme, and be different. it was DESTROYED by the media for this, who also hyped it as a "Halo Killer," but that's a different issue entirely.

Killzone 2 takes this "realistic warfare" goal further, and the battles feel very REAL. a lot of that is probably attributed to the ambiance of the environments, but the heft of your weapon and character movements helps also.

Resistance 2 IS a 9.5, because it offers a really cool, 12+ hour campaign mode, an incredibly fun, lengthy, addicting 8 player co-op mode, and a never before in console gaming 60 player skirmish mode, equally addicting, and time consuming. no, the graphics aren't like KZ2, but they don't HAVE to be considering the goals of that series (a war torn alternate 1950s). Resistance never showed off Target CGI footage that forced them to push visuals when the media hyped it as in game way back in 2005, so they didn't have that as a goal. Resistance 2 has AMAZING visuals (just play the Chicago level, and the final alien ship level - this game is no slouch to great visuals).

Killzone 2, up until these reviews confirming it's gameplay, have ALL been about the visuals. if this game didn't match the CGI target rendering, no matter how awesome the gameplay is, it would have scored 7/10, maybe 8/10 at the most. reviewers are inconsistent hypocrites. Killzone 2 HAD to deliver on 2 fronts, because that is what the media made the focus of the title for the past 4 years.

it wasn't "Sony showed of some obviously CG footage of a sequel to Killzone." it was, "OMFG, the IN GAME TRAILER FOR KILLZONE 2 WAS JUST SHOWN OFF! THERE'S NO WAY THE PS3 IS DOING THIS IN REAL TIME!"

then, "SEE, WE WERE RIGHT! IT WAS CG AFTERALL, AND SONY LIED!"

EVERYBODY in the gaming media, and fanboys alike had written off Killzone 2 because of how the media portrayed the target render, running with the "Sony always overhypes and underdelivers" bs that is considered truth by the haters (yeah, because the PS1, PS2, and PSP are SUCH disappointments...*rolls eyes*).

because of that, Guerrilla HAD to make sure that KZ2 was the best-looking game EVER, even though, back at E3 2007, they could have left it at that, and still been praised for visuals, IF that target render hadn't been blown out of proportion like it had.

ultimately, it doesn't matter. Guerrilla Games and Sony delivered on the visual promise, but they ALSO delivered on the gameplay promise, so hopefully the gaming media has learned something and been humbled by the whole affair. but i seriously doubt it. they have such short term memories that the NEXT time Sony shows off a beautiful CG video for the PS4, this whole circus will start all over again. *sigh*

As far as your whole media being humbled........it reminds me of a man who beats his wife, and then once in a blue moon does something special for her.....is she suppose to forget the years of abuse? So yeah Sony got this right.........but in the eyes of many, delivering once does not erase the years of lies they feel like they were told. Need an example.....go back to the original specs of the ps3 that was told to the media. So don't blame the media for the mess that Sony made with its past lies. because from my experience, the Playstation 1 delivered some fantastic games, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party (from Gran Turismo to Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII).

the Playstation 2, delivered as well. games like GTAIII, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus were unlike anything i've ever experienced in gaming.

the PSP is a remarkable handheld device, and games like Patapon, Jeanne D' Arc, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and more really show off it's abilities.

the Playstation 3 is on par to deliver as well. Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank Future, Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, and more have been some of the best gaming experiences i've had this generation.

if you are naive and foolish enough to believe in the hyperbole that the PR machine of companies like Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft spew, then i have no sympathy for you or anyone like you.

did you actually believe it when Sony said you'd be "jacking into the Matrix" with the PS2, or when Microsoft said you'd be experiencing a "Lucid dream" with the Xbox 360, or when Nintendo said that they were going to usher in a "gaming revolution" with the Wii?

ALL PR is full of sh*t, and i've been around the block gaming long enough to see that, and simply ignore it.

i buy a product because i feel i want it. i bought my PS3 because i actually WANTED the features and games it offered. why is that so hard to believe?

$600 is a LOT of money, and i wouldn't just throw it at a corporation because they told me that it was "teh awesome!"

people tell me iPhones are awesome, but i'm not about to drop $400 on it.

the PS3 had Blu Ray, which i wanted (after seeing movies in HD, it was really hard to go back). i liked the idea of having an extra 25-50gigs for developers to utilize. afterall, GTAIII wouldn't have been possible on a CD Rom. it NEEDED the disc space of DVD. i liked the idea of having a built in HDD (one of the best things about the original Xbox). i liked the idea of having built in Wi Fi and memory stick readers (although, admittedly, i didn't think i'd use the memory stick readers, but i use them more than i thought i would when showing of pictures from my digital camera, and backing up my PS3 game saves). i liked the idea of the web browser, and free online gaming.

sure, not all of those features are necessary for a guy that just wants to play games, but that's ENTIRELY the point. i'm NOT a guy that just wants to play games. i'm 29 years old, i have bills and other utilities and responsibilities, and i want the most bang for my buck. i love movies and games, and the PS3 combined those things.

Killzone 2 actually DELIVERED on Sony's promises, as did Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Uncharted, etc, so i don't see how Sony was blowing smoke up our asses with the PS3.

if we held EVERY company to their PR promises, we'd be VERY unhappy consumers. McDonald's commercials pimp their product as the best fast food you will ever eat. that is FAR from the truth on so many levels. Best Buy is hardly the "best buy" for ANY electronics, and so on, and so forth, so why Sony is constantly being held to their PR BS is baffling to me.

and even when they deliver (ie, Killzone 2 - the game the media and haters alike said was IMPOSSIBLE, and would NEVER have gameplay on par with the visuals once they were proven wrong about the visuals), they met with more scorn and disdain. like people are pissed they were proven WRONG.

the Playstation 3 had a rough start, but it IS delivering on it's bold claims. the online, hardware, and software has been on the RISE in terms of quality.

you can't possibly still be upset about the PS3 not having 2 HDMI ports, a boomerang controller, and 4D gaming, are you? just let it go. you'll be a happier gamer that way.

i've had my PS3 since February 2007, when there was NOTHING but Resistance and Virtual Fighter 5 that even RESEMBLED quality on the machine.

after playing many of the games i mentioned before (ie, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, MGS4, LBP, Uncharted, etc), it's hard for me to remain pissed off at Sony for their wild PR claims FOUR YEARS AGO.

some PS3 fans DID mention Resistance 2, but the first instance of it I SAW on this thread was from the usual Xbox fanboy crowd (not Xbox fans), who said, "so, IGN is saying Resistance 2 is better than KZ2? that must mean KZ2 is crap, cuz Resistance 2 was crap! HAR HAR," or some such comment (i'm obviously paraphrasing), then the PS3 crowd started moaning about it afterwards.

the point is, for the longest time, it was always "well, >insert popular Xbox 360 game of the time here< blows away >insert hyped PS3 exclusive here<" because >insert "credible" review site here< gave the 360 game a higher score! HAR HAR!"

where as now, you have them comparing PS3 games to PS3 games (ie, Metal Gear Solid 4 is SOOOO much better than Little Big Planet!), and i find it ironic and funny.

because Killzone 2 is undoubtedly the best looking Playstation 3 game (and console game, for that matter), the haters are trying to use it to make OTHER amazing PS3 look bad (ie, slamming Resistance 2 because of ign's score).

it's ridiculous. the PS3 fanboys need to relax and stop getting hung up over a .1 difference, but gamers in general need to stop relying so much on game reviews. the only review that matters to me is my OWN, and after having played the KZ2 beta last year, i've determined that KZ2 is on my MUST BUY list.

they got rid of the boomerang controller, because of the universal outcry that it sucked.

last i checked, the PS3 delivered on it's graphics promises (Killzone 2, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, and upcoming games like God of War 3, Gran Tuirismo 5, and Heavy Rain), it's online offering isn't quite 100%, but it's certainly improved by leaps and bounds since it's launch in 2006.

XBLA games, as great as they are - i personally love Braid and Castle Crashers - are small, "safe" titles, while the PSN is offering fully 3D, ambitious titles).

the HDD is there. the Wi Fi is there. the BC is there for folks that bought in early (like me). an HDMI port is there. free online is there. the ability to play CDs, DVDs, and Blu Rays is there. the ability to install other Operating Systems and the support of mouse, keyboard, and printers is there. the ability to swap to a larger hard drive is there. rumble is finally back, and has been for at least a year.

really, is there some OTHER LIST of features that were removed that i simply don't know about? was the PS3 supposed to cook breakfast, do your laundry, walk your dog, go to work for you, do our taxes, and make sweet love to you every night? i've been following the PS3 since it's announcement, and i simply can't recall what it's apparently missing, and why it's such a big problem.

you didn't actually expect 120fps games, and 4D gaming, did you? how old are you? i'm being serious here. i'm curious. i'm an old timer, 29, and i was AT THE E3 where Sony was making those claims. i was at the presentation where they showed of that infamous Killzone 2 CGI target render, and i didn't by ANY of it, and i'm a Playstation FAN!

Anyhow....you got 2 years over me....I am far from bent out of shape, and like you...I enjoy my ps3. I had a ps3 but sold it off for my launch 360, and bought the 60gb so I could play the ps2 games that I missed out on. At the end of the day....I am simply saying that Sony's PR has rubbed a lot of people in the wrong way....and as a result, it causes media to view them harder than other consoles. While yes graphically they are coming through, in many ways they are feeling the heavy scrutiny for their previous efforts of not being completely truthful. So while I agree that companies boast all the time, in my opinion..so has done more than their fair share over its console lives......and in some ways it has been more detrimental for them, than for other companies.

It looks like Gears 2 beat out Killzone 2 by .1 of a point. I am glad that Sony finally has a shooter they can be happy with. It may not be in any way a Halo killer, but I doubt that any game ever will be.

Recent studies have shown that a few hours of LittleBigPlanet online, a playthrough of Metal Gear Solid 4, a nice quiet ride through Resistance 2's co-op campaign, and a bit of Uncharted can cure such a problem.

I only know one thing for sure, and that's that they underscored Killzone 2 on Graphics, and overscored Gears of War 2 on graphics. I played both games, and Gears of War 2 didn't even look as good as the online multiplayer only BETA for Killzone 2. Gears 2 has lots of pop-in and some slow-down here and there. And it doesn't even look as impressive when those issues aren't occurring. Killzone 2 deserves the 10 for graphics, no god damn doubt about it.

I agree. I wasn't in the beta, but a close friend of mine was and I was able to get some hands on time with it. There is no doubt about it--even the Killzone 2 beta looked much better than Gears 2.

I own Gears 2 and it is definitely a nice looking game, but seriously, it makes no sense to give Gears 2 a higher score for Graphics than Killzone 2. Then again, IGN also gave GTA4 a 10 for graphics, so they obviously aren't a very good judge of graphical quality.

Oh well, anyone with eyes can see that Killzone 2 looks miles better than either Gears 2 or GTA4.

sure gears 2 got 95 for graphics, but come on guys, even if your a 360 fan ( which i am) you can't lie to yourself and tell me you really think gears looks better.

the way i see it these games keep pushing the bar. everytime the bar moves, so do expectations. a 94 score now, is not really the same as a 94 score last year or 2 years or 5 years back.

THERE was only ONE review that mattered and THIS was it! THE cherished IGN review...9.4...wow...after watching the video review..I now realize IGN now stands for 'I GOT N-TS!!!'

The site faced down HUGE pressure to give this game a near perfect score off of the strength Sony and it's legion of fanboys and bloggers who tried to sell us on the ridiculous expectations...

But in the end..IGN kept it real and basically said that after all of the crazy hype..'some people are going to be disappointed..but it's not fair to the game'...

The funny thing all the reviews sound the same..it's like the reviewers are typing on a keyboard while walking on a tightrope held by Sony on one end and fanboys on the other.

BUT here's the good news..Metacritc and Game Ranking will be sky high..why..there are a WHOLE lot of countries out there and coincidently Official Playstation Magazine has recently set up shop there. 5 PS3s sold in the country? OPM will now be in the stands..in fact they will be giving you that EXCLUSIVE first review of Killzone 2...

So when Killzone had that coveted IGN review at the top (9.4) which is a good review..it won't matter because the next ten review scores will be:

I'm confused right now and I don't know if anyone else said this, but didn't IGN also give Resistance 2 a 9.5?!!? I mean, c'mon, it was good but I highly doubt it's a better PS3 exclusive than Killzone 2. Just based on the set piece battles, graphics, and multiplayer, I can tell that this game will totally blow Resistance 2 away. There's something wrong here. For me, R2 felt a bit outdated for FPS especially against the likes of COD:WAW. I think if R2 got a 9.5 from IGN, K2 should score a 15, I bet it's that much of a more polished and more enjoyable gaming experience.

IGN imo is one of the most reliable sites for reviews, not that everything they say is 100% correct, I disagree from time to time but I still respect their opinion. This is a great review from IGN, why can't you "gamers" just be happy you have a great game according to IGN....oh I know because with all the hype all of you self-professed game critics(fanboys) think it deserves 10's across the board. -FORTUNATELY the world doesn't bow to your demands. Judging by the reviews so far it looks like KZ2 will be a great game but NOT cure to cancer game that overzealous fanboys on n4g make it out to be. EnJOY the game.

IGN does not like Sony`PS3 so this score of 9.4 for KZ2 is probably means it woudl score a 10 if the game was for exclusive for the xbox360 or multi plataform.

What I dont understand about IGN is that they gave like a 9.4 to FA3 and it was the GoTY on the Xbox360 and then they game 10 to MGS4 but their world wide Goty was FA3 and not MGS4.

Anyways MGS4 can look cool but is one of the worst games I have ever played and I am a Sony fanboy.
But the discussion here is not MGS4 but KZ2 and if a Halo 3 and GoW2 that are games with serious frame rate and lag issues can get some 10 `s why KZ2 did not even get one ,in graphics at least ?

as an xbox only owner, out of all the games I think that make we want a ps3 it is this. For all you ps3 owners out there, be excited about this game but don't cry about the 9.4 it got because remember resistance 2 got a 9.5 gameplay and killzone got a 9.0. i know scores against cross platform doesnot work but to the regular guy (which are the websites visitors), it will look the same. and sadly, we all love to compare (who's got a bigger one?)

Even though 94 is not a total debacle, i think one thing is know for certain, that they are a bit anti-Sony. I mean mgs4 got 10 on the graphical department and kz2 gets 9.5? Its a bit frustrating. But i will get over it:)

there are a couple things here and there yes but some times they really over exaggerate how big they are. like they complained about the 1-2 second hitch that happens when you get to a checkpoint and stuff as if it ruined the experience but how many games do that. and it's not as if it happens during a fight or anything. they also complained how some character faces have bad shadows and how they only reason it's a big deal it because most character shadows look great that one bad one looks even worse in comparison which is just plain stupid imo how KZ2 didn't get a 10 in graphics department is amazing to me in games like gears 2 and MGS4 there are lot more graphical problem, and low res shadows/textures

If it makes you feel better go to metacritic and compare other critics that have reviewed both games like for example gears2, well so far u can see that IGN US is the only 1 that have scored KILLZONE 2 lower others are higher or equal.
