Best wishes to Jonathan and thanks for such a phenomenal game!

borgome5597d ago

I though Solja Boi designed this game?

RKRigney5596d ago

I saw on the news that Soulja Boy just died!

You know who did it?

...

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!

bgrundman5596d ago

This was an awesome game, but I don't think that it coming to PC is anything to get bent out of shape about. Afterall it is on 360 already....

Gun_Senshi5596d ago

do NOT say "Soulja Boy", it it burns my eyes when I read it and my eyes when I hear it.

- Ghost of Sparta -5596d ago

It's sad that this amazing game didn't do too well on XBL.

Is it a bad thing to have a game as good as Braid multi-platform? I like seeing good games on as many systems as possible, if it is feasible of course.

RKRigney5596d ago

For retarded fanboys it's a bad thing. Ignore them.

bgrundman5596d ago

I think that it is sad that the 360 can't hold onto exclusives, but I guess the developers have to go where the money is. But remember where they made all of their money first...

ammonator5596d ago

I don't think Jonathan will be abandoning the 360 anytime soon, hopefully that is...

bgrundman5596d ago

you better not say that he is coming to the ps3...

Wile5596d ago (Edited 5596d ago )

Considering Microsoft makes a relatively wide-spread operating system for PCs, (I forget it's name right now but it will come to me) I'm not sure a game going from 360 to PC can be considered a lost of exclusivity. When most argue exclusivity, when it comes to the console war, is about console exclusivity. The 360 and PC architectures are very similar. It just makes to much financial sense to port it to PC. But hey if 360 games going to PC makes you tingle. Just WAIT! As it was with Halo CE and Halo 2. Microsoft will publish Halo 3 for PC eventually. Then 'You All' will be able to scream Microsoft lost another one! :P

Mitch_Cumstein5596d ago

It was supposed to be late this year on PC last I heard. And just to add it's an XBLA title not Final Fantasy XIII.

On top of that, a game like Braid getting the love and respect it deserves even though it is a low budget arcade title only makes the 360 more attractive to develop for. I would be more than happy to continue to get games exclusive to 360 at first like BioShock, Braid and have them turning out to be phenomenal games so they get ported over a year or two later. Once again, only makes 360 more attractive to develop for.

Lair, or a game like Haze....those will always be exclusive to the PS3. And that doesn't look good to potential developers, but I guess you will always have those as exclusives. Yahoo for you, and yahoo for school!

CViper5596d ago (Edited 5596d ago )

Exclusive: Play on one system\console\device
Multiplatform: Play on more than one system\console\device.

360\PC = 2 different devices.

Regardless of where the $ goes, its where the consumer can go to get the game. Sony makes oodles off Electronics, the PS2 and the PSP but that doesn't seem to be factored into the PS3's universe when we are talking about gaming.

Its been this way since before this generation, and it will always be that way.

Games going on Consoles & PC = multiple platforms.

No way to 'buh buh' that.

It defies logic that people still try to uturn the PC into meaning "Exclusive" when its on multiple mediums. Being on more than one medium alone makes it no longer exclusive.

And This generation will be the first to where people are grasping at straws and trying to redefine multiplatform as "buh buh console exclusive"

Zoids Assault, Operation Darkness scored lower than both Lair and Haze. And lets not forget Flop Human. Exclusive to the 360. As many many many flops. MGS4, Motorstorm2, and LBP are also actually exclusive and the list goes on.

Mitch_Cumstein5596d ago

The simple fact of the matter is console exclusivity is very significant these days as the overwhelming numbers show console gaming is going through the roof while PC gaming is dwindling.

The overall majority(doesn't mean everyone) is gaming specific to one particular console or a pc. Thats why you have the console gamers vs. PC gamers rift.

The bottomline is that games like Left4Dead, Braid, BioShock, Fable, Gears 1, Halo 1,2 etc. are extremely beneficial to the xbox platform because of the difference in the PC and Console Gaming markets.

Wile5596d ago (Edited 5596d ago )

Whatever floats ur boat buddy...If Braid going to PC is some sort of victory for you, then by all means enjoy it. But most here at N4G don't seem to be getting as excited about it as you seem to be. I don't see this story's comment section exploding like similar multi-platform stories have in the past. Some good examples (rumored or confirmed) may be Devil May Cry, Bioshock, Final Fantasy, Assassin's Creed, Virtual Fighter, Fatal Inertia, MGS4, and Grand Theft Auto. Some of those I would categorize as industry meaningful news that should grab attention. You can try making this bigger than it really is but, let us be honest here. The gaming community as a whole, deep down, doesn't really care when something goes from a console to the PC and by and large, don't consider it a real loss of exclusivity. Halo, Halo 2, L4D and Gears are perfect examples. It seems to me, the only ones who really care, are those looking to rub it in the 'other' console fans faces.

If you want this, take it and embrace it. I bow to the fevered importance you have placed on this event. :P

I haven't played Braid yet, but I'm really excited to. I think I'll buy it once I get some points for Christmas ;D

bgrundman5596d ago

so you will play it on 360 and not PC? Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of you commenting on this article?

ammonator5596d ago

You never know, maybe you will need some sort of points to purchase it on PC.

bgrundman5596d ago

doubtful... at least I hope you don't need Microsoft Spacebucks to make it happen

bgrundman5596d ago

This was one of those games that could define a platform, to bad it will never get the chance to do so.

Wile5596d ago

I enjoyed Braid very much. But a 2D sidescroller that took a few hours to finish is hardly console defining. LBP and Mario are console defining. Braid is innovative and has the potential for being expanded into something defining.

Mitch_Cumstein5596d ago

You are clearly one that just "looks at the pictures" and doesn't mind to "read the actual story."

Braid isn't winning all these awards for "defining a platform." It is a just a simple game with an innovative approach to gameplay. It isn't going to sell any consoles and those that do desperately want to play it, more than likely will get to play it on someone's 360. It's just a short little game, that blew a lot of people away for what it is. But a console seller or a platform definer it isn't. But like I said above a game going multiplatform like Braid makes MS very attractive to develop for. Losing exclusives from proud, well established franchises like Sony has been doing tells a whole different story.

bgrundman5596d ago

I will skeptically wish him the best just because the game is awesome.

Nice list.

I’ll add 9th Dawn III to that list. Great game made by one person.

Always Sometimes Monster is made by two people technically, but let’s do an honorable mention.

NecrumOddBoy691d ago

I’d add HABROXIA 1 & 2 on here as well. Berry does pixel wonders with the Game Maker engine.

ABizzel1691d ago

Technically speaking Minecraft should have been on the list. But it's nice to see these single devs thrive.

Rebel_Scum691d ago

Some of these arent exactly “made by one man”

Looking at you Braid and Fez.

AmUnRa691d ago

Theyr is no game made by one man. Theyr is always a team of developers behind them.
However there is always someone who comes up with the idea of a game.
When i would give an example of one man with that idea for me its Hideo Kojima....

LabRat691d ago (Edited 691d ago )

No there are certainly games made by 1 person, start to finish. Maybe after it launches and becomes a big enough success the 1 person will reach out for help maintaining it or updating, but games have been made by 1 person.

Unless of course you are being insanely nit-picky and trying to claim "the engine they used was made by Unity" or "the assets they put in were made by someone else"

Joe Danger is hella fun. Nice bonus from GwG.

deleted719d ago

I enjoyed Joe Danger back in the day, it's pretty fun. What's amazing is how Hello Games went from a few of these rather simple games to the ultra-ambitious No Man's Sky!

I would love a sequel to JD - although I do realize that Hello Games have kinda grown beyond that scope of game.

Godmars290718d ago

And still the contradiction of getting something for "free" from a service you pay for continues.

CrimsonWing69718d ago

But isn’t the service for online multiplayer? So, technically it’s “free games” included with your online subscription? I mean, what was the point of Xbox Live? To get free games?

Godmars290718d ago

Only, after they tried doubling the price of another online service, some similar nonsense, isn't Xbox online multiplayer suppose to be free?

darthv72718d ago

"isn't Xbox online multiplayer suppose to be free?" No, it was always been a paid premium on console. The free games was not related to the rumored price hike. They were giving them away long before that.

If there was a service for free online multiplayer on console, it was PSN. Until the PS4 came out.

Jericho1337718d ago

How would you have worded it then? I’d say ‘subscribers claiming free games’ is about as clear as it gets.

Godmars290718d ago

"As part of", "In addition to", "As an extra bonus". Anything better than, "Get this with no strings attached or requirements" which is what "free" implies.

Jericho1337718d ago

That’s like saying ‘buy one get one free’ doesn’t apply because it’s not technically ‘free’. Stop trying to find a problem with something when there isn’t one.

gangsta_red718d ago

** "Get this with no strings attached or requirements" which is what "free" implies.**

No, it actually doesn't, it's just like when you get a free refill of soda after you purchased your first cup.

I think we are well enough into these console gens to stop bringing up this tired argument

CrimsonWing69718d ago

You always had to pay for Xbox Live to
play online multiplayer… this was the case way back during the original Xbox when it was released.

I don’t understand what you’re hung up about when plenty of subscription services give free things as a perk or benefit to a user who subscribes to a service.

Hell, Nintendo Power gave me a “Free” Strategy Guide of my choosing for paying for their magazine subscription way back in the day.

You’re getting the games that you’d need to pay for regardless of the subscription for free, bottom-line. The service you’re paying for is the online multiplayer service Xbox Live. You aren’t paying for Xbox Live and paying for the game you were handed out for free, you’re still just paying for the online service and nothing more. Hence, why the game in itself is free for Xbox Live subscribers.

sinspirit718d ago

It was originally just for online access. It had updated and began monthly game releases to compete with PS Plus. Monthly games have been a part of Live for many years. It is more recently that the releases are getting worse and worse.

Godmars290718d ago

Its been a majoritively dismissed point as DLC, MTs and now subscriptions became things. Failed protest against policies meant ultimately to strip consumers of ownership rights over media in general.

Still, may as well keep pointing it out.

sinspirit718d ago (Edited 718d ago )

@Godmars290

I guess people are just missing the point. And, now we got people thinking Live is still just an online sub and games are a generous inclusion like it's not a feature of the paid service lol.

Live officially on Microsofts site lists, "Free games every month. Now that’s Gold.
Get 2 free games a month, including backward compatible Xbox 360 games".

But, many are starting to say that Live payment is still just for the online access. Which, if that's what they're believing then I'm worried about why they'd pay just for online access. Paying for it back in the day was already a ripoff since they didn't even host dedicated servers to ensure the best quality connection. You'd pay for it just to host it on the internet provider that you also pay for lol.

I do think it's great to offer extra games on top of the existing ones. However, Live has repeatedly offered very lacking games, has listed the same games more than once, and even listed the same game two months in a row one time. They need to have a solid consistent history of delivering quality monthly releases.

Im thankful Quantum Break ended up here! The only thing that stopped this game from being talked up was Xbox exclusivity and the live action scenes being way too long...

Otherwise, it's basically Control with lighter visuals

Godmars290934d ago

Isn't the AI broken? Physics issues as well?

Why, if it wasn't actually a broken game, possibly less so than Blix the Time Sweeper, would being an exclusive be an honest mark against QB?

GamerRN933d ago

Because people LOVE to HATE Xbox

NecrumOddBoy934d ago

TimeSpinner is a good time based metroidvania.

Also, Singularity rocks a a time-theme Bioshock-like FPS.
