New Uncharted 2 Details

maddoggnick96 on Gamefaqs.com has posted some info from the new GI magazine:

- The biggest thing in the article IMO is that there's a new girl named Chloe Frazer. GI asked about Elena and Sully's return but they had no comment.
- The story is about looking for the ships that Marco Polo "lost" while returning home to Italy.
- Melee combat is more dynamic now.
- They mentioned they were using only 30% of the PS3's power with Drake's Fortune and are planning to use nearly 100% with Among Thieves.
- A demo was shown to GI with Drake going through a city (I believe in Nepal), and he's stealthily taking out guards and escaping the city.
- Nolan North returns to be Drake and Chloe Frazer is played by Claudia Black (Stargate SG-1, Fargate).
- The Sixaxis mechanics were ditched for such things as throwing grenades.
- One of the weapons revealed is a rocket launcher that Chloe uses (might only be for the cinematic).
- There are no load screens.
- The score is being composed by Greg Edmonson (same guy from the first one).
- Weapons can be used in any stance (running, behind cover, hanging, climbing a wall, etc.).
- You can now move while aiming behind cover.

"In Uncharted 2, every character fully interacts with the dynamic geometry moving around them, and environments in the background are real parts of the game world"

"If Drake's on top of a train, he's going to be shaking with the train as it moves around"
"As he gets inside, his moveset is going to change, and he's going to be a lot more secure because the wind's not blowing."

- The graphics look better than Uncharted 1.
- Button sequence cinematics such as the final boss have changed so now Drake is now fully controllable in these parts...I think (This one's also hard to describe).
- Climbing seems improved upon. You can climb lamp posts now among other new things.
- If there is an enemy patrolling a rooftop you're climbing a wall to, you can pull him off the roof while hanging on the wall.

"- They mentioned they were using only 30% of the PS3's power with Drake's Fortune and are planning to use nearly 100% with Among Thieves."- meh than how come KZ2 is using only 60%? And i HATE this % thing, who gives a sh.t! Just give me game

TheHater5608d ago

In two years ND will be saying that they was only using around 60%.
As for the game, I simply cannot wait. Uncharted is my Second favorite games this generation and I cannot wait to play this one.

jwatt5608d ago

Yea if they use 100% than it better look better than Killzone!

Foliage5608d ago

How Naughty Dog can keep out performing every developer in the industry in half the time, is beyond me. These guys stand alone.

SuperM5608d ago (Edited 5608d ago )

Well they say they are aiming for it. Which is great, that probably means that they will improve alot upon the game until its finally released. Besides the power is definately not only going to be used for graphics. Its going to be bigger enviroments, better physics, and on top of that better graphics. Man im so hyped for this game, i absolutely ADORE Uncharted. Naughty Dog is my favourite developer atm. I cant think of any developer that is better then ND

Panthers5608d ago

@ Jwatt

The graphics dont have to be better. If the characters are fully dynamic with the environments, then that probably uses a lot of processing power. Plus physics and whatnot.

Graphics are not everything.

hazeblaze5608d ago

Yea, I find it hard to believe they will be using 100% this time... but bring it on! Some of the game details sound pretty cool... I'm looking forward to the game regardless.

jwatt5608d ago

Yea I know that, I saw videos of Killzone and there is alot more going on then just the graphics. The dynamic lighting, smoke effects, physics, every bullet causing a hit response, walls breaking apart. I just personally feel that if anything is coming close to using 100% of the ps3's power it's Killzone2.

sunnygrg5608d ago

Did he say Nepal?? My country Nepal?? I feel so honored, Naughty Dog.

Freak of Nature5608d ago (Edited 5608d ago )

Jwatt above brings up some good points...Adding to the list of things that help use up the power would be more intelligent A.I.

I love the extra depth,or option for "stealth" gameplay. You can go in guns a blazin or take the snealy/stealth approach,or mix it all in....

Now give me some Jak news to go along with this.Greedy.I know.

With games like this,Team Icos next game,GOW3,Resident evil 5,Infamous,Ratchet and Clank's next game,Beyond good and evil 2,Killzone etc,etc... Things look real bright.

jammy_705608d ago

wow better graphics than uncharted 1
i cant wait!

Bubble Buddy5608d ago

Naughty Dog is too nice. After Uncharted 2 can you make Jak after? :). Please?

TheHater5608d ago

WTF? Now I cannot wait to do that. No one is safe in the game now.

koston36475608d ago

you can do it now play splinter cell chaos theory

Nathan Drake5608d ago

Or he can do it when Conviction hits the Ps3 either way he's going to be doing it next year :)

TheColbertinator5608d ago

No loading.I like the sound of that

TheHater5608d ago

and probable no install again. Uncharted didn't have any install and it had no Load time. it only load once when you load your save file and that was it.

cmrbe5608d ago

Uncharted had zero load time so its nothing new.

Chris Hansen5608d ago

"No Load Screens"
One of the best things i liked about Uncharted 1, it was such a seamless experience. Traversing through that huge island without a single load screen.

Tales Of Graces Ƒ Retro Review – Holding Out For a Hero

Gary Green said: Namco Bandai heard the call of many fans asking for the PlayStation release of Tales of Graces which was originally released seemingly exclusively for the Wii back in 2009. If you’re acquainted with the Tales series then Graces f won’t be something entirely new to you, yet if you’re a newcomer then you’ll find a plethora of gameplay mechanics and nuances that distinguish this series from other JRPGs. While the game finds itself following the traditional archetype of JRPGs, such as a somewhat clichéd story, Graces has something to offer to both veterans and newcomers alike.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil4d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai3d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing693d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle3d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal3d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa3d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal3d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing13d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.
