Rumor: Home Coming in 10 Days Time

On a recent Home feature published on the Times Online UK website:

To try Home, which is slated for release in the next 10 days, players must download a piece of free software from Sony's PlayStation store onto their own PS3.

This is not official and not confirmed by anyone, but we all heard the promises that Home will come by the end of 2008. Is December 16 the date?

The most entertaining thing to do is to make an avatar of a hot chick then get a bunch of dudes to dance with you. Once you have several guys dancing around you, switch to an avatar of a fat bald man on all the dudes dancing with you.

I'm tired of this release date speculation about Home. Why are you people buying this crap!?

I was stunning when i 1st hear about Home in 2007 then the delays has taken place one after another and with that the deception have arrieved. Now i don't have even the curiosity to see that because, for me, it's completly "out of date".

I can't understand why this was an PS2 ideia and started to be developed back in the ps2 times, and we're almost in 2009 and yet the only thing about home is a closed beta.

Well, you're able to create a club within home for online gaming and its already said when its out of Beta that Sony will charge one for using this. So if you want to stay cheap, you probably can only walk around in Home and play the stuff like bowling there and thats about it.

Besides that, Sony will charge for getting that HDTV, that hottub, extra nice cloths, etc etc straight of your credit card.

Why doesn't PSN has points that one can get in the shops yet? I hate online credit card payments. I love the points system from XBL I can buy in store. Sony hurry, up, you're starting to make the gap to XBL bigger instead of smaller!

just the clubs cost money to buy but you have an apartment for free. Besides it doesn't cost money to join a club. This is better because what would you rather have, a million pointless clubs or a hundred clubs with a purpose. And the psn has cards you can buy in the stores, I see them all the time at Blockbuster.

the trophies arent some abitrary bragging rights, as each trophy you earn can be used as credits for purchasing stuff within home. and thats cool. as they have worth within the network. so it'll also give people a reason to collect trophies, purchase new games of the PSN and other games for the Ps3. awesome stuff. continue your trolling though, you are doing a fabulous job.

I realize that you're not exactly the brightest third of that RRoD that you're so fond of, so I'll try to put this just as simply as I can.

PSN Cards can be found at Blockbuster, Wal-Mart, Target, 7-11, Best Buy, and K-Mart. Those are just the places where I have personally seen them; there may very well be more.

If you spent a little more time in that scary, frightning place I like to call "outside" and a little less time here "defending" a plastic box that plugs into a TV for the sake of entertainment, you might be aware of things like that.

I have only been in the closed beta for a week or so, and have already seen two updates to Home (first downloaded 1.0, now it's up to 1.2).

I have faith that they will be adding to Home on a regular basis, just like they do with PS3 firmwares...

From what I have seen so far, it has potential. I just hope that when they do launch the open beta, they make the bowling alley MUCH bigger than it currently is (the waiting times on bowling lanes can be pretty bad at times), and add more games for game launching (where's LBP/R2 launching???).

Even though I may understand what you're saying Vitalogy, as perhaps some of your concerns may be warranted, home is still in all respects an evolving idea of Sony's and I do believe that we as gamers just need to be patient. I get the fact that many of us want to be in the beta or just want it to release but it really is not the end of the world. Home I am sure will not stop anyone from enjoying their gaming experience as it may improve it for all we know. If it does not then I always like to note that it is indeed optional. If they charge for it then hey, so be it (but i'm pretty sure they said they won't). But you know what's funny, many gamers complain about Sony's online service and it's not on par with the competition but here is Sony trying to really make an attempt on implementing a pretty good idea (no matter how it turns out) which is free, but yet there are always those few people who like to find fault. How can we complain about free? The old saying goes like this, "Beggars cannot be choosers." Sure it was promised a while back, but perhaps some things are worth the wait. We all might be surprised in how this turns out. Hopefully for the better.

I have been a beta trialist since August and am impressed with home so far.

I tried Home round a friends and found it to be completly pointless and boring.
Why o why don't Sony just have the same system as xbox live when it comes to party's/ game invites/ cross game chat etc. Maybe there hardware isnt as powerful as they say. Two years in and still no cross game chat. Sony should stop messing about with pointless Apps like Home and just give people what they really want.. a simple and quick online solution.

They just added the summer houses for home and some of new items and stuf with this recent update. my guess is that there are going to be plenty of things going on, The farcry and uncharted rooms are also back with this update and TedTheDog has said that they're are a few more features that will be added before the community goes public before december 2008 ends, next week loads more invites will be going out and a load test will be done and right after that there will be another update that will bring Home with a slew of other features and will also have some more games patched to allow the ability to launch from within Home.

and also the resistance 1 and 2 and warhawk rooms, and unreal tournament 3 game spaces all open on the launch day. I'm even more sure that most of the first party games will have a space made for them, GT5p was said to have home support when it was rumored to lauch last year.

Just stick tight, the whole thing should launch with a plethora of features. even Capcom the second third party to be supporting the community with Re and street fighter rooms launching on teh day their games release. ^^

Home will be out before the end of the year easy. The beta already runs smooth as butter. The only thing missing is all of the content. Sony has slowly been releasing free clothes and furniture etc. to the beta players. They also have said for us to hurry and snag it up while its free because when Home is released they will charge for it. So if they are telling the the beta members hurry up. I think its safe to say that Home is a go in the next 2-3 weeks.

It's true but let's say that you are in the central plaza and want to download the Bowling Alley, you just simply approach it, select the download option and if you want, just do the download on the go option and you will be able to download and still be able to talk to people.

I'm in the beta and tbh Home is boring lots of times. It's fun when you are talking to people and you sometimes tend to talk so much that you don't realize that hours have passed by but at least for what the beta goes, boredom tends to strike very often

One thing that needs to be changed is the ability to play Pool, Chess, bowling or the arcades without having to wait for people to finish. A private chess table would be cool to be able to buy and bring it towards your home.

I wasted an hour and I created an avatar, played bowling (which was sort of lame), and did a lot of exploring. The time went by so fast. I felt like I accomplished nothing. I was impressed by now much little things there was to do but I don't think I'll go into it again. Total time waster, I would have rather spent that time playing a game. Maybe if I was 15 again, having my mom do my laundry and dinner and dishes and I had tonnes of free time I would be in home all the time. I'm a bit older now, I value the little time I have to game. I used to be SOOOO pumped about home about a year ago before it was delayed who knows how many times. Now, I got invited into the beta and it took me about a week or two to finally try it out. I had time earlier but I just didn't care enough to try it.

i just played with Home for about 1 hour and all i can say is .. Boooooring!

it's a nice free bonus to decorate your apartment and to buy a new shirt but it's totally meh for gaming in general. most of the rooms you'll never enter more than once. i'm not interested in watching movie or gametrailers that i can watch everywhere else in the Internet with just one mouseclick.

"I THINK" XBox 360's Live Service is still more comfortable. Cross game chat and ingame invites, partys with up to 8 people where everyone can play a different game while talking ... along with better framerates, textures and overall better performance in games i think the XBox 360 is the way to play ;-)

bash me but it's my opinion - i owned a PS3 but the whole experience was just frustrating. online lags, connection issues, framerate problems ... meh!

with the 360 you know what you get!
