Sony has told Eurogamer that PlayTV will not allow saved video files be transferred to PSP, PC, or memory sticks.
Instead, the PS3 telly-recorder will only be able to stream live or recorded content to your PSP using remote play functionality.
Sony Cambridge, the studio making the software for PlayTV, had told us there was no copy protection or time restrictions on the standard format recordings, which could be moved freely onto all manner of storage devices.
Over 10 years after it’s release, Sony has announced that it is shutting down the online services for PlayTV, the device that allowed users to watch free-to-air TV on the PS3. Online services for the device will be shut down in February 2019, but device will remain usable.
EuroGamer - Sony alerted us to the patch (v2.04), which was released last week, and claimed it fixed the issues raised in our original story.
A quick glance at Sony's EU PlayStation forum shows PlayTV users are, on the whole, happy with the fix and are now using PlayTV as intended.
TheSixthAxis: ''A few months ago I was a bit worried that there would be no decent PlayTV alternative releasing along with the next generation of game consoles. PlayTV’s a good service (or at least it was in its prime – we’ll get to that later) which allows users to watch, record and even pause or rewind live TV much like any other Freeview+ box available, without the need for another big box getting in the way, aided instead by the PS3′s power and hard drive.''
What TV integration?...lol Sony has yet to reveal their all their plans.
My TV does TV right... my game console should hopefully do games right and that's all I care about.
For that reason I am getting a PS4
I connected my PS3 and it automatically integrated with my tv lol. I love gaming when it comes to my game console. Xbox is not replacing my Cable box with its fees. I'll stick with Sony and Nintendo on this gen. ^~^
@MoonConquistador
I have both the ps3 and the xbox 360.
I am just speaking the way i see fit.
It's very simple, if you don't like the Xbox one, don't buy it.
Not sure why all the trolling is about seriously.
I won't get neither because I am done with consoles.
Bottom line is not everyone is going to like the xbox one or the ps4. Stop being closed minded and make up your own mind and not let anyone tell you what to buy. Likewise, it's unfortunate sony fans and xbox fans are trying tell anyone what to buy or not buy. It's a personal choice.
I still hope they can bring this to the US though, those out there using a cable card with no cable box could make use of this for the channel guide along with the dvr being an added bonus.
That sucks but i can see why they did it.
make it so it can at least put on psp
No HD signals yet?
on, a patch cud fix that though it shud been available at launch.
ALso i understand the copying thing, but they shud make it at least transferable to PSP instead of just remote play.
disappointed.
