Fallout & other classics in CD Projekt's retro-PC store

To gamers too young to have played the 1996 original, the excitement--and controversy---surrounding Fallout 3 might be a bit baffling. Now those wondering what all the fuss is about have a chance to play the first Fallout without having to track down a battered copy on eBay.

Now no one can say they couldn't try Fallout. Awesome return of the classic.

fermcr5765d ago

Yep ... great games.

I have played fallout 1 and 2, but still have not played fallout tactics. Is it worth it ?

MK_Red5765d ago

Well, it's not a Fallout game. It's like those tactical military PC games but with Fallout's traditional character screen in which most skills don't do much in the combat oriented world of Tactics.

A decent spin-off with some neat ideas and of course some special encounters though the you're not that free in World Map and there are no open / free cities. It's more like Diablo. Also, it's not made by Black Isle. The developers are rather unknown but they did a pretty good job for spin-off. Also, it might be good for preparing for Fallotu 3 which is more like Fallout FPS: A Post Nuclear First Person Shooter ;)

Howlie5765d ago

Loved 1 & 2 highly recommend it, tactics was alright, don't waist your time with Xbox Brotherhood of Steel

mepsipax5765d ago

good find MK, while I see no reason to buy the first two again, I might actually, getting fallout 1 and 2 to work on my new PC was a b*tch, the screen was entirely black and would refresh only when the cursor was waved across the screen franctically, it took me weeks to find the proper patches and fixes, but I know this sounds stupid, but I've had the original games since their respective releases, and it wouldn't feel right if I left those, wow 10 year?, discs in the dust, maybe I'll make a display case for them.

Perkel5764d ago

Here in Poland i can buy F1/F2 in almost every Empic Store. GOG is just a online store

BTW fallout saga is one of the best games ever . Still i play a lot (F1, F2)

I'm worried about F3 :/ I don't want to see another boring elder scrolls game...

Go get Fallout now kids, thank me later.

mepsipax5765d ago

it's great for people trying to find the game, but as for me I've had 1 and 2 since they were released and recently bought tactics which I enjoyed alot, my expectations were low, but it was pretty well done, I mean obviously not fallout but still very good if you like turn based combat.

lordv8der5765d ago

I'm only 17 but still a huge fan of the fallout series, tactics was a good game in itself but not a patch on the original 2. Personally i'm a bit cautious about fallout 3 as it is constantly being compared to Oblivion, if fallout 3 is going to be a 'reskinned' version of oblivion with a slightly different battle system (Which it seems as if it probably will be) then i will be sorely dissapointed.

p.s. Check out the fallout 1+2 modding community, it's small but there's some pretty nifty things out there (www.nma-fallout.com is a good place to start)

mepsipax5765d ago

I think Fallout 3 will be diffrent than Oblivion, but still not fallout good, I hated Oblivion, hated it, I've been increasingly looking forward to Fallout 3 recently, I don't know why, I'm just excited over because my fanboy anger ended a few days ago, it was stirred up by Diablo III, but now I am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

lordv8der5765d ago

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Heh, I may be worried but I still plan on picking up the special edition at midnight when its released *sigh* such is my blind faith towards the fallout series...

GlossGreen5764d ago

tried to find a couple of these games a while back. I did find one of them, but at a price I didn't want to play. This will give me the chance to play what I've missed.

lordv8der5764d ago

I actually picked up a collection of the three games in my local gamestation a few months ago for £5 preowned. Couldnt believe my luck XD

Fallout Anthology Edition Looks Pretty S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

The Fallout Anthology Edition is coming to PC very soon, and is packaged with some very S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bonuses.

-Foxtrot11d ago

It’s an awful downgrade to the last one they did

They included physical disc back then

McFarlaneToys Reveals Fallout Series Figure

Here is a look at the pending figures for the pending series.

Sciurus_vulgaris46d ago

I preordered the 7 inch Brotherhood of Steel member named Maximus because I love T-60 power armour. However, which McFarlane had went with 7 inch Power Armour figures and 6 inch scale human figures that were poseable.

Garethvk46d ago

They are all good choices but if the show is good; we will likely see a ton of stuff soon.

Sciurus_vulgaris46d ago

I want Macflarane to a do a Fallout Line comparable to what they are doing with 40k. I collect figures, I would love to have some 6-7 inch scale T-60, T-45 and T-51 to display in my living room.

Garethvk46d ago

Variety is good and I am curious if the show is a hit as we expect; will Bethesda take advantage and announce a new game or just keep updating F76?

Sciurus_vulgaris45d ago

I think a new Fallout game would have to developed outside of Bethesda. Obsidian would be a good candidate to develop a new Fallout, but that studio has its own projects underway.
