Doom 4 Coming To E3, Not To PS3?

List it under rumors for now until official confirmation because according to e3.net, velvet Assassin is listed for PS3,360 and PC but according to the official website and the devs, it will only be for 360 and PC.

E3.net is even listing Splinter cell conviction as well.Not to sure about that.I am taking even the Alan Wake posting as a rumor.

EDIT: Anyway John Carmack does not really like the PS3 but he has gone on record to state that his games will be multi platform.But that was a long time ago.

Doom 3 may of sucked in comparison to the legendary Doom and Doom 2, but still was able to scare the living crap out of me. There are few games that do that and I love them for it.

but seemed like I was playing the same level for such a long time, I got bored of it and never finished it. Id say it was boring too, games that I have purchased for PC lately and enjoyed so far are Age of Empires 3, Fable and FEAR. I also got San Andreas for PC but just got bored of it and never finished it, the GTA franchise needs to change or quit, too much of the same stuff. But yeah Doom 3 didnt suck but wasnt anything special, at least not good enough to keep you playing.

Watching the tech demo of ID's latest engine being used for Doom IV I really hope they just release a dumbed down port to the 360 like they did with 3 to the xbox, It's not that I hate 360 it's just that to use that engine to it's full potential you can't do it on 3 year old hardware, I think Doom 3 was pretty good, I just added a few mods to make it better like the flashlight mod and a mod that added more enemies. It was pretty decent, but if you want a modern doom stop b*tching and go out and buy serious sam.

Doom 4 isn't coming for a loooong time. Id's next game is Rage, and by the time Doom 4 is released the so called nextgen consoles like the PS3 and 360 will be grossly outdated and probably be unsuitable for it's graphics.

If they can't put Crysis on the console then they sure as hell won't be able to put a PC centric game like Doom 4 on this gen's consoles. Doom 4 coming the Xbox 760 maybe. Like Doom 3, Doom 4 will be a showcase game designed to flex the power of the next, next, NEXT gen PCs. Thats PC tech three years down the road folks.

Ok the thing is, I saw this before, I didn't posted it, because its not legit. The thing is that site comes under UGO, Not E3Expo & all they have is predicted titles. They have listed Velvet Assassin under PS3 section, while its a 360/PC exclusive. So whatever they have listed is just a rumor and nothing more.

I own 2 360's and will probally pick up Doom4 when it comes out, but also own a ps3 and am pretty sure that Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and SoCom Confrontation will be enough to tide the Ps3 fans Fps hungers for a long time. Killzone 2 is only possible on the ps3, and Doom4 would pose no problem running on the ps3. But by the time the new Doom comes out Infanity Ward will have another top notch Call of Duty ready for us. By the way Call of Duty4 runs way better on the ps3, so maybe Infanity Ward should develope Doom4 on the ps3, making it the best Doom made on a console to date. I hope Id does a better job on the Doom 4 engine then they did on Quake Wars for the 360, cause those graphics are way dated my friend.

Games like GTA IV and MGS4 which require long harddisk installations to run on the PS3 have revealed the severe limitations of the PS3 architecture and the complete fallacy of the Blu-ray storage argument. Doom 1 and Doom 2/Final Doom are still some of the most fun shooters imo...I played more Doom 2 as a kid than probably every other game combined (save maybe Twisted Metal 2)...

its generally accepted that Doom 3 was a disaster though among fans of the original...it had great graphics, but 100% threw away the stuff that made the originals awesome...Most attributed that to the fact that John Romero had left iD, whom was the creative director for the original games (as well as Quake 1, he left after that)...

I'll say this...If Doom 4 is some sort of sequel and similar to Doom 3...I probably wouldn't even rent it (I hated Doom 3 so much I didn't even buy the expansion)...if its another retelling of the orginal ACTION games...and actually has fast paced mindless shoot everything that moves, and has tons and tons of enemies...not to mention has to have grounbreaking multiplayer (another thing that made the originals so perfect)...I will be all for it...

aside from that though...it has long been understood that these PC devs, aside from Epic, do not prefer working on the PS3...Valve and iD have rarely said anything nice about it...interestingly though Carmack did confirm that a team is working with optimising Tech Engine 5 for the PS3, of which is most likely what Doom 4 will use...

I have always been a huge shooter fan...but after Quake, I understood that basically only small changes could be made to still keep the core gameplay great...seriously, whats changed since Quake 1?...reloading...melee attacks with more than one weapon...seperate grenade/explosive tossing...and a few cover systems here or there...in 15 years thats really all that has changed in the gameplay sense...which is ok...as a shooter fan you are most likely a graphics fan too...I love the progression in visuals that high budget shooters bring...Killzone 2 looks ridiculous so far...Crysis as well, although i don't have anywhere near a rig to run it...Doom 3 looked awesome at the time...It just failed in the whole being fun area imo...

what is really weird is that guys like Carmack come up with coding techniques that are used for several generations...they are unmatched in terms of programming perfection...

yet...all of them...have been against parallel processing since the beginning...they all were pushing for just upping clock speed in CPU and GPU power...I remember when dual cores were just starting to show up around the release of Doom 3, and carmack claiming that, over time, it would drastically hurt visual progression in video games...

now everything is at least 2 cores, or more...the technology sort of changed around them whether they liked it or not...the best devs around now are willing to embrace it...but some of these 'old school' devs are moving forward with grit teeth...which is simply hurting everyone, not just PS3 owners...

Just because a dev doesn't want to put a game on PS3 doesn't mean that MS paid someone off. Kleptic is right - PC devs would find the 360 easier to develop for because it's so similar to a PC. For a lot of devs, the PS3 has been a headache. The PS3 is very powerful hardware, but for some programmers, it might not be worth it.

I think Doom 4 will be great. You have to remember that after Doom 2 those were some big shoes to fill. Not only that but Doom 1 & 2 are obviously outdated although a classic. I guess Doom 3 didn't have that feel cause the devilopers where trying to do something revolutionary at the time. And it didn't quite work out but it still was a hell of a game. I think they will have their act together for Doom 4.

Doom Engine is waning this is a last ditch effort to get the most out of PC Engines as the "beastly" Cell,multicore RSX engine eventually will pave a new way for programing and all these old engines will be phased out!!!!

WOW He said the id tech 5 engine was scalable but wow! I remember him saying that that it could run on the Wii and even I was like sure right in the back of my mind but then he said all it needed was a harddrive Whoa! I'm use the DS and even the PSP will be using the appropiate engine for the specs but I remember him yes john the carmack say it would run on the Wii.

Then this E3 comes around and nintendo has a rumored storage solution that sounds to be solid state of some kind. WOW the industry is crazy! It's possible some thing could still snag announcements like delays popping up out of no where. Also too this game will come out on the PS3 Id software hired a PS3 programmer and even john gave the guy his blessing along with a few other new faces.

I know lots of you maybe did not get as far because the game was hard yet if you did make it to the hell map you wouldn't be saying that games sucked LOL. The game was amazing but it was simply a metal gear of it's time and a less popular one at that. With john saying that quake 3 was his all time favorite I have to have faith in the guy because that game is one of my favorites also. He wants to bring that type of gaming back.

We will see what will happen right? They have lots of games to top these days.

Doom 3 began the decline of iD IMO. It had a good single player game, sporting some of the best graphics on the original Xbox, had some chilling moments, and outstanding sound design.

Then I tried the wretched multi player...:(

wTF happened id?! Quake 3 remains one of the best multiplayer FPS engines ever, and you threw it away for the last 5 years or so.

I don't know why people make a big deal out of what wasn't promised. You can compare and contrast the prequels all day, but Doom 3 delivered an atmospheric, and scary experience. I dare you to play this game by yourself, with the windows open, in pitch black. I dare you.

I can understand why PS3 only users are tepid about purchasing id software; after Orange Box and Quake Wars, you can't really expect much. The good news is, things can only get better or so we hope. Personally, I'm not going to complain if its not on PS3 as I have other means to play it. Its better to have an optimized game than a poor port regardless of your system of choice.

If its using the ID software Tech 5 engine.. then its coming to all platforms... remember Rage dev walkthrough.. where the game is being made Tech 5 engine which is designed to run on PC, Mac, 360 and PS3 exactly the same on 60 FPS... the devs work on one game and its send to all the consoles and machine by the engine... my bet is this game is using Tech 5.. why would they use an old technology?..

... just been on ID's official site, and there's a small write up about Doom 4. The first paragraph reads:
"Production has begun on DOOM 4™, the next journey into the legendary DOOM universe. We are expanding our internal team and are currently hiring to work on this highly anticipated title."

Looking down the article, there is a link to the careers section, and they're looking for programmers for work on Xbox 360, PC AND Ps3.

I suppose these job posts could be for other projects, but since they state they are hiring for this game, I think the original story might by just BS.

Personally I liked all the Doom games, and would love to see this on my PS3 (so long as it has more about it than Quake wars).
