Mygen: NBA Ballers: Chosen One Review

Mygen writes: "For those who are unaware, I'm a big Basketball fan, the type of guy who wears his favourite players' jerseys with pride and has a love for anything to do with sport. That's why when I discovered NBA Ballers: Chosen One was on its way I was more than happy to play it. This is actually my first look at the NBA Ballers series and while the game is not too bad it's not the best for the mature gamer but probably a bit better for the younger basketball fan. While the game has its moments of sunshine it tends to lack depth and some simple gameplay design elements other basketball games have. If Midway were to ever bring a basketball game to the console I somewhat wish it would be a good remake of NBA Jam but keeping it simple like the good old days.

NBA Ballers is pretty much a story about rags to riches or more so your journey of beating the pro's at their own game to show everyone that you're the upcoming superstar. This is so you can prove you have what it takes to be playing with the NBA superstars. The only thing is that you pretty quickly discover that you do have what it takes right from the beginning as you're thrown into a one on one match with an NBA superstar for your first game. This sort of defeats the whole point. Perhaps throwing some good street players in the mix would have felt more like the natural path of progression if it wanted to follow this story. Another angle to come from may have been to give you an NBA star to choose from in the beginning and have a goal to win some International trophy for the best NBA Street Baller with big prizes like new apartments or hot new cars for example, or heck even advertising sponsorship. Either way the story needs some work to entertain the more serious gamer."
