Mass Effect 2 will "blow people away"

Speaking to play.tm this week, BioWare PR boss Matt Atwood has teased us on the prospect of a Mass Effect sequel, stating that the new title will literally "blow people away". Crikey.

Chatting to this site about the release of Mass Effect on the PC ("the game looks and feels phenomenal on the PC and we are very proud of what the team is delivering"), we were scavenging for details on the series' future, Atwood stating: "We haven't announced a date or time frame yet, but don't worry, we're hard at work making a game that is going to blow people away."

The PR chief also revealed that Dragon Age is "looking really great", while BioWare could make non-RPG focussed titles in the future.

Microsoft Game studio published this game... and it would be a legal never ending issue like the one we have with golden eye for N64 that nintendo published a while back... just because EA owns the studio does not make microsoft publishing this game go away... reason why PC is getting it is because it strength "Games for windows"...

Because ME is no longer published by Microsoft. EA is now the publisher from here on out. The current PC version, and all future titles will be published by EA.

uhh no... EA is the PC publisher... but microsoft is the console publisher... let me give you an example... Viva Pinata on the DS is being published by THQ... does that mean is going to the PS3? and microsoft no longer publishes the console version?

Microsoft has a lot to say when it comes to where Mass Effect goes because they were the publisher... hense why companies become publishers... and just like it didn't matter that microsoft owns Rare it does not mean games published by Nintendo can go anywhere microsoft says...

If Mass Effect ever comes to the PS3 it will be because microsoft allowed it... who knows maybe EA is willing to pay a ton of money to microsoft + a least 6 months to a year of exclusivity....

You assumption are base only on that EA owns that studio... but just because a company buys another ... it does not mean that contracts and deals made prior to that are voided... not to mention that there are lots of companies out there not own by Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft that keep games exclusives based on the exclusive deals they make....

Sony should get in touch with EA about doing a prologue for the PS3 version of ME2. That way everyone who missed the first one can catch up with the storyline.

I hate when developers/PR people (even though it is their job) do this, because then they always raise my expectations greater than what they'll ultimately deliver on (Looking at you Molyneux).

I prefer the Kojima modest/semi self loathing approach. He knows he makes good games but he's not going to go brag on it because it could always be improved, and he eventually does so. Zone of the Enders 2 and all Metal Gear sequels (Snatcher and Policenauts don't count for this) are testaments to that.

So I hope they just focus on making ME2 a better game than the first, that is with a longer core storyline, more than 5 interiors for sidequest missions, and if you opt for the Renegade/Paragon approach again make it worth something damn. The Light/Dark from KOTOR and the similar system Jade Empire at least netted you special moves and influenced party members as well. Let the PR stuff come after the game is near complete.

Sorry I helped approve this I was going to report wrong type/channel but changed my mind due to there being more PS3 fans here right now they would have ignored the reports anyways, I just skimmed through it for ME2 because of the header I assumed they were talking about announced multi platform games.

I'll report it now, if he's going to assume there's PS3 news in there we might as well assume Wii, PS2 and Xbox should have been added to the channels.

That Bioware made MDK2. I absolutely loved that game on the dreamcast though i got pissed as hell because i couldn't get pass the part with Max (the robotic dog with 4 arms that blasts aliens) and using that got damn jet pack. Awesome game, i wouldn't mind seeing them do a third installment of the game.

I do hope that the series gets a 3rd installment it was so wacky but good. It always seemed like one of those SEGA games where they didn't care that it was hyped but the gameplay and game quality was top notch.

If they improve some of the frame rate issues and tweak the combat mechanics, they certainly could have an amazing game in the works. I thought the first one was great. Graphically it was gorgeous, and the story was well written and acted. Hopefully they can make some solid improvements and really build upon the first installment.

I just finished my third playthrough and I'm in awe of how the story develops. The cinematics have blown me away every single time. The ending is just freakin' epic. If NG2 wasn't about to come out, I think I'd probably start my fourth campaign.

This game is going to rock. ME one had a great story and great game play. Whoever said it, just because it isn't on the PS3 doesn't mean it isn't going to be fantastic. The PS3 has lots of good games that aren't on the 360. No need to be a goon about a sweet game coming out on the 360.
