GameTap: Silent Hill: Homecoming Preview - Creepy atmosphere, foggy streets, and shotguns make some next-gen survival horror

GameTap writes: "Silent Hill is one of the best-known survival horror series out there, even if the series' quality has flagged a bit in recent entries. Konami's been hard at work on the newest installation-due out this fall-for quite some time, and this time around, the terror has been ratcheted up with new characters, a new plot, and a host of next-generation graphical touches.

New protagonist Alex isn't just some gasping ninny, like his predecessors-instead, he's a soldier just discharged from the army who has returned to his hometown by hitching a ride with a semi trucker. The opening scenes of the game feature this trucker and Alex pulling into a fog-strewn town. It's unclear whether this town is supposed to be Silent Hill right from the start, because Konami showed some footage of Alex awakening on the streets shortly after his arrival, reeling and wondering where he is. Shortly thereafter, the Silent Hill town plaque comes into focus amidst the fog."
