The first year - yes... it was disappointing. Despite that disappointment, Playstation faithfuls knew it was going to get better thanks to the solid and powerful system behind it... and indeed it has. I've got four games on the go right now and each is fantastic. Three of those four are exclusives. Any more and I'd need to take time off work... and 2008 isn't even half over yet.

The only thing I want to play on the 360 in 2008 is Gears Of War 2... and even that has my limited enthusiasm.

Just show's how sony is. But what is really funny is how sony's great year is not so great. Home being pushed back for so long it is changing it's name to retirement home when it come's out. MGO beta is a disaster, Haze demo is a turd, New RES2 footage can anyone say last gen, Killzone2 being pushed until 2009. So wow the big title this year is LBP nice, great year just awesome. Everyone cast their minds back to the first year of the 360 when all
the 360 fans were posting about the quality of 360 games being like xbox one ports you can still see these posts on the net.
Every game console has had problems like this from launch when only a limited number of first year titles are worth buying.

Well I have 3 games for my Ps3 and 16 for my 360 and 6 are allowable on the ps3 and 1 on the ps2/xbox so I have 3 times as many excluisve on my 360. The only game that I plan on gettin this year of my ps3 is MGS4. For my 360 I plan on getting NG2, Too Human , Fable 2, GoW2 and maybe Banjo-Kazooie 3. Dont think I every only gotten 1 for a system before in a years time. The 1st year was the better year

I think today's announcements tells us the consoles are even with big games in 2008. 2009 is another story. I just think kZ2 coming out after 2 months of resistance will kill resistance's momentum online and put a halt to the sales. especially after everyone spending so much money for the holidays. feb not a great month for game sales.

Not really mate, I think Sony has the strongest lineup out of all 3. They have the first party exclusive that are going to be huge. Resistance 2 will be great based on Insomniac's track record. MGS4 well, I don't think its worth mentioning how great it will be. Then we have the cult hit Socom. LBP the innovating game and Agency that will hopefully be a great Online action MMO. The only game missing this year is Killzone 2. Which is perfectly fine. Because we need some breathing room between Socom and Resistance 2. I hardly doubt it will eat up Resistance 2's online momentum. Both games are trying to achieve something totally different.

I think LBP while not proven and MGS4 are big titles this year but the only huge titles for PS3 that will do well and score well! Now 360 has more big titles coming like Fable2 GEOW2, Left 4 Dead, NG2, Banjo, Conviction, Champions Online, Halo Wars, and Alan Wake which will all be huge titles! Later this month E3 and XO8 will be huge for MS and 360 fans because theres nothing but fresh news on the way which Sony doesn't have! I think PS3 got a blow when, it lost exclusive like Assassin's Creed and DMC4 to xbox360. Imagine if last year PS3 had a exclusive like Assassin's Creed in its pocket?
The games they had Heavenly Swords and Lair all good games but really very short. Then they had Uncharted (short but amazing), Ratchet (Perfect length, amazing graphics), Resistance 2 (Perfect length, great graphics considering it as a launch title) and then the jaw dropping motorstorm. All were great games. Sony just lost focus on the games, while promoting the Bluray. Now thats out of the way, they are focusing on games this year and we can already see the results, in games like GT5 Prologue, MGS4, Haze, LBP, Socom, Agency and Resistance2. Next year they have even stronger lineup with Killzone 2, God of War 3, Final Fantasy 13 and versus, Eight Days, GT5, L.A. Noire and Getaway 3. Sony is really playing smart by not playing all its cards at once.

The problem with those games is they sucked. Not that they were "short", get your stuff straight. Some of us have played those games an know better.

Game player is actually a pretty good site. I have read some good articles from them and most of them are unbiased. They tell it as how they see it which is quite refreshing. I don't think it was a negative article for PS at all. If anything it showed how humble and human Kaz really is without the article implying it. Sony just has a problem with PR. They should just show the games to the press when they are out of beta. Sony hired a CGI team for all the renders for Killzone, it wasn't even running on any type of console hardware for the first trailer.

It really isn't fair to consumers who are waiting for titles for over a year. Killzone, even Home...etc. There is a reason why Sony has pretty much fired their main management staff. Kutaragi, Harrison..etc.

Seriously they showed a tech demo of Getaway 3 at GDC 2006, now we are hearing that this game will go in preproduction sometime in fall. First CGI footage E3 2005, no showing at E3 2006 and then amazing footage at E3 2007 and then blank till Sony Gamer's Day 2008. Hardware-wise the PS3 was set. Software is always work in progress. It's developers(1st and 3rd) who weren't prepared for launch. If you want to discuss a rushed console, I'll gladly point you in the right direction.

While the general bitter media has near faded away it's clear some have it in their mind to continuously slander Sony at every move despite the HUGE strides made during the past few months to a year back.

Really though, the 360 might have had more titles earlier in its lifespan but lets face the facts, they were just glorified XBOX1 titles(King Kong, Splinter Cell, Perfect Dark). Now Sony, instead of making a bunch of mediocre PS3 titles, just released more PS2 titles.

Now that Sony is moving away from PS2 development that increasing # of PS3 titles reflect that. This year we have Tekken6, MGS4, Haze, GT5, Res2, LBP, Socom, Siren, White Knight Story, Motorstorm2, Valkyrie Chronicles, and the Agency.

For having an 18 month head start whats 360 got? Gears2, Alan Wake, Too Human, NG2, Lost Oddysey, Fable2, Left4Dead, and thats about all I can think of.

There is talk of another Alan Wake dely, and 1/2 of these so-called exclusives are all coming to pc. I don't know about you guys, but my PC smokes a 360.

While I like Kaz's humility, I've loved the first year of PS3. Resistance and Motorstorm, along with Mario64 and the first Halo are just about the best launch games ever released. With over a dozen games in my collection (and none of them dross like I bought the first year of X360 when I just spent on any piece of crap for some reason) I've been very busy gaming.

Plus I love BR, I love the PSN store and I like jumping online to check the headlines on N4G for that 10 minutes I get in the morning before I have to shoot off to work without having to boot up my PC, (which is nearly dead.)

Then theres the fact my friends all prefer PS3 and going around for some RB6 or Army of 2 splitscreen co op is a blast. Not much into online, I'd rather be sitting with my mates and a carton of piss. Oh, thats Aussie BTW, a case of brewski's you might say. Man Haze and Motorstorm 2 are gonna rock.

So while I see Kaz's point, I think what he's really saying is, 2007 is nothing compared to 2008, 2009.

You're still crying about something someone said a year ago? Sony has plenty of good exclusives for me to justify owning a console - Drakes Fortune, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Resistance, GTP, etc.

The only thing I play on my 360 is Gears. Their other exclusives don't appeal to me whatsoever. I'm sorry, but I don't own a console for just one game. I mean, can we get another crimson skies? Can we get a decent action adventure game on 360?

And fact of the matter is, few titles are truly next-gen. Few titles actually use consoles to their fullest potential. I don't think we will be able to judge these consoles by there software for another few years. One things for sure though, the 360's anemic lineup this year is pretty damn alarming.

Which is why I didn't pick up a PS3 until the second year of launch when Uncharted came out. Also, Kaz isn't the first to admit a weak PS3 launch. Just about every Sony exec has. PS3 exclusives last year were MORE than enough for me, with a little love from some multiplatforms like COD4.

I had the best personal experience in my gaming life last year with SONY exclusives.

*HS - Yeah short, but it was really a great game with a flawless story.

*Warhawk - Best online game since Counter Strike. Visually impressive too for an online only game.

*R & C - Great adventure game for platforming lovers. Stunning visuals, and interesting/funny story.

and last but not least, Uncharted.

Uncharted really does it for me. It could've been the only exclusive last year and it would've been enough. Uncharted has everything I'm looking for in a game and so far it's the game that I've enjoy the most.

Were not as dismal as Kaz might want to believe but that's because I found several of them very fun and a good time overall. He is honest and to that I have to say that I am happy. It's a refreshing look into what Sony is becoming since they have come from such a high pedestal. They are no longer the haughty, arrogant company but they are the people's company in search for a way to make us happy as consumers.

Sony had themselves in a perfect place for this year, and bit by bit it's being torn apart. They still have many very good titles coming out, but as the news of PS3 titles being delayed reaches the people, news of 360 games releasing this year also hits...

I admire this man for changing the face of Sony from the pompous "I'm better than you" image to an image that truly seems to care for the fans and owners of the console and wants to provide the experience they said they would provide.

Microsoft rushed 360 to market before it was ready and the results are:

- the industry's new standard for poor failrates
- an outdated format with limited disc space
- billions in losses gone to repair faulty hardware

- being outsold by Wii and PS3 since they arrived in 2007

If you take an honest look at the 360's top rated titles, most of them are also on PlayStation3, and many of the few not also on PS3 are available on PC.

If you only want to play sci-fi based shooters, buy a 360.

If you want a well rounded game library with the best exclusives (that are actually exclusive) and you want to play them on a quality machine that happens to come with tones more value, reliability and features, buy a PS3.

As far as my tastes are concerned, the prospect of a new Banjo game alone makes the Xbox360 line up sound more interesting than the PS3's.

There is no direct Xbox360 equivalent of Uncharted- Drake's Fortune. The gunfights are said to be similar to Gears of War (which I haven't played) but it mixes so many other ideas so well with outstanding production values. To generally sum it up, it's a bit Indiana Jones/Romancing the stone/Tomb Raider but with much more variety, prettier locations and with more clever ideas than all of them put together. There's some Prince of Persia-style clambering around ledges, which is also a bit Ico-like in design in places. There are thankfully some sections that just let you explore parts of the jungle or the interiors of buildings without any gunfights for a while. Motorstorm 2 looks promising but I feel that Drake's Fortune will remain the best PS3 game for me. The reviews don't quite score it as high as Bioshock but I personally think that it's in that area because it is so immersive.

Only 2 exclusive games you named interest me at all. White knight and FF13.. FF13 isnt coming out this year last I heard. Nothing new on White knight in so long it also might not be coming in 08. So now I have 2 games that interest me but neither 1 is coming any time soon as far as we know. Doesnt really look like a good year for the most expensive console.I really think it is time I sale my PS3.It hasnt delivered on anything Sony promised it would. You gotta love guys who pull up Resistance as a Gears of War killer when the first one had no impact at all. It was a common shooter. Gears killed it in sales and even got GOTY. I didnt see Resistance do that. Of course Sony fans are also quick to pull up any game on the PS3 as a must have title..Remember Lair? The must have bomb of 07? They hyped it to hell and back and what happened? Nothing.. I know you guys think that any game on PS3 is an instant 10/10 AAA must own title, but the majority of gamers just do not agree with you at all. NG2 is the only game exclusive to Xbox 360 that I wish I had on release day. That's it. Xbox 360 gets NG2. Xbox 360 owners should get a refund if we are judging on exclusives. Unless we are talking shovelware. Then, the Xbox 360 is only outdone by the Wii.
