"yawn"

20s a crowd

sonarus5840d ago

Yea its getting ridiculous at this point. Its really because they are so close that it is hard to get a definitive answer.

Personally i didn't really notice any pop in when both were falling, but i did notice quite a bit of pop in from the 360 helicopter vid.

Personally i think the 360 pop in adds a bit of an edge to the game. When you are driving and tree pops out of no where keeps you on your toes:D

Kleptic5840d ago

^^^agreed...the trees were noticable in the 360 helicopter clip, despite how ridiculously different the flying path was...

but the fall didn't seem drastic for either...you can see ground texture chaging just before he hits in both...

now what I want to know is why can't I get online right now?...am I an idiot, and keep trying it at the wrong time?...or is it just so jammed up with traffic (ho ho) right now its giving me Cod 4-Christmas'ish problems?

sonarus5840d ago

@kleptic if you have ps3 version, i heard the online is due to high traffic but should be sorted out by tomorrow.

"Personally i think the 360 pop in adds a bit of an edge to the game. When you are driving and tree pops out of no where keeps you on your toes:D"

dude...that's funny :)

Bathyj5840d ago

PS3 has some texture pop up, as does 360 (and any Unreal game on 360) but the XBox in some movies I've seen seems to have bad geometry popup, that is a tree or a whole building pops up.

chaosatom3335840d ago

haha, where are mart, pog, jason 360, and pp, I want to laugh at their face for saying that 360 is better in every aspect of the game.

robep35840d ago (Edited 5840d ago )

Yes sonarus pop in adds to the 360 experience dont think you would have put it that way had it been the PS3 it would probably have been ha the PS3 cant handle the deltail your a TOTAL A H!!!!!!!

Rob.

Im no genious but I think its got something to do with things appearing seemingly out of nowhere. Pop in ?

If we had pop in , in real life everyone would fly, drive, and walk differently. Would be alot more paranoid people too.

Imagine someone who smokes some kind of pipe for a hobby, Vice or what have you. They would be tripping for sure.

Sackdude5840d ago

that the 360 has a little storege, and is slower cause the game on 360 is very compressed and it need s to load the compressed file just like oblivion. and the pop up are very very annoying, and the blind xbots wont admit it.

himdeel5839d ago

...that Niko cannot fly, the trees on that island need to be chopped down, and helicopters aren't sexay.

justgamez5839d ago

some people have more time on their hands then they know what to do with.

I have both version and I am enjoying both for different reasons. Both have their pros and cons. I like the game so much I might actually finish it on both consoles.

LOL, just LOL at the 360 pop in, its embarrassing.
I bet all 360 gamers are now begging for HDD installs.

Haven't the tables turned????

alexM5840d ago

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaa

where are the XBOTS now??

surely the x360 version of GTA4 is a disaster. pOins /washed out colours/long loading times

just imagine what it would have been had GTA4 been PS3 exclusive .

It would have run at 1080P at 60 fps just like GT5P/wardevil

*****************NOTE GTA4 is ported from x360 to PS3

some examples of POPINS in x360 version

even despite being a PORT PS3 version of GTA4 runs better

Varsarus5840d ago (Edited 5840d ago )

port?....PORT?! ROFL!!!, and the bots are getting gimped version hahaha

Shaka2K65840d ago

but you have to understand, the xbug 180 is full of limitations you are talking about a console that couldnt even handle Bully a ps2 game.

Cryptech5840d ago

Alex, those gifs are amazing, lol I didnt know it was that bad on X360.

Foliage5840d ago (Edited 5840d ago )

Too bad I can't find Grand Theft Auto 4 for the PS3 any where in Toronto, Canada. I must have checked like 8 different places. Oddly enough they were all over flowing with the 360 version. I guess some people don't think paying for extra content in half a year makes the 360 version superior...

Edit: I'm glad I got a disagree. If anyone knows where I can find a PS3 version in Toronto feel free to send me a message.

WIIIS15840d ago (Edited 5840d ago )

WOWOWOWOW!!! If you scrutinise till your eyes pop out and go crazy like Nasim's me-myself-and-I zombie army, you'd realize that the PS3 version really has slightly less pop-ins! I'm seriously amazed at what harddisk installation can do for a vastly inferior console! Thank you Rockstar for deceiving my eyes with 640p too. My PS3 is finally saved!!!

Torch5840d ago

I don't know if you're being serious, but regardless:

I only checked Best Buy, and the following stores claim to have in-store stock at:

-Downsview (Dufferin & Wilson)
-Woodbridge (Weston Rd. & Hwy 7)
-Brampton (Bramalea City Centre)

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catal...

Foliage5840d ago (Edited 5840d ago )

Yes, I'm being serious. I checked most of the downtown area. Best Buy, EB Games, Future Shop, even smaller shops like Game Shack.

At this point I'm almost willing to wait for the next shipment since I wasn't too sold on this game to begin with.

Edit: Not to mention those places are pretty out of my way, and they might be sold out. (If not as I type this, by tomorrow)

From what I can make out

PS3 = better draw distances for trees.

Can't really tell much from the 2nd draw distance test.

littletad5840d ago (Edited 5840d ago )

Ps3 version: Let's stay atop!!!!

360 version: Let's crash down "there" for the hell of it!!

To be fair, pop in was slower on the ps3. There you happy? Now can we move along and just enjoy the game, no matter what version we bought?

Spinner5840d ago (Edited 5840d ago )

The point of the video was draw distances ... maybe they didn't see the yellow-part of the tree from the 360 version there requiring them to go down "there" whereas you can see them from far away on the PS3?

And that's when you see the popin.

Game13a13y5840d ago

#1 video- the 360 has some serious pop-in problem, not just the trees, i noticed several boats and a building pop right in if you pay closer attention.

#2 video- the cars on the PS 3 version are clearly visible from a far distance, whereas the 360 version doesn't have that many cars and the framerate doesn't remain constant...

well, thats what i've found :P

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies14h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken10h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing691d 1h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker1d 1h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing691d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos22h ago(Edited 22h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt13h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken10h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.
