Rockstar has confirmed to videogaming247 that the originator of this story claiming the 360 version of GTA IV is "superior" to the PS3 outing is not Rockstar North's Neil Corbett.

On the other hand, I posted information about the first Mass Effect review in Game Informer on GameFAQs before anyone else, just because I figured the fans would like to know. I couldn't post the scans I had, because I didn't want to get my source in trouble and it wasn't allowed anyway.

The forum EXPLODED, and I later discovered posts all over the intrawebnets referring back to this thread, and a good 50% of the people called me a liar who was just out for attention, even though the magazine would be out within a month so it would've been extremely stupid to lie about it in the first place.

Didn't keep people from ripping me apart on a personal level, saying how I was just lying for the attention. Did any of those people apologize or even admit they were wrong when I was proven right? Of course not. That's just how the internet rolls.

Not saying this guy is the real deal - quite the opposite - just that people will do a lot of things for attention, including fake forum posts. Which is unfortunate, because when something legitimate IS posted, it's often viewed as being BS just like the other 95% of the "insider info" that's posted.

It might be fake but common sense would tell you that it's likely true that the Xbox 360 would have a better frame rate and better loading time. Why? As mentioned by RockStar, the Xbox 360 is the lead platform for GTAIV. Meaning that all the coding was done first on Xbox 360 and then ported over to Playstation 3. In most of the cases of game development through this method (because they were better optimized on Xbox 360) resulted in multi-platform games that showcased superior frame rates and loading times on Xbox 360. I wouldn't be surprised this this came to pass.

This is what we know based on reports through the media:

1. Development of GTAIV started with Table Tennis on Xbox 360 (which was a test for the Rage Engine used to power GTAIV).

2. RockStar had their Xbox 360 development systems a year before Playstation 3.

3. In a later conference call with investors, Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick attributed the delay to "almost strictly technological problems... not problems, but challenges."It was revealed that technical difficulties with the PlayStation 3 version of the game was a contributing factor to the delay.

4. Unlike Activision which has a history of coding feats (Call of Duty 2 on Xbox 360 ran at 60 FPS on a 6 month development cycle), RockStar does not.

5. This is RockStars first Playstation 3 game. It will be their third Xbox 360 game (meaning they have more experience working with 360).

6. We know that the PS3 is still lagging behind in development but that Rockstar hopes to have that all ironed out by it's release.

7. We do know that the media had played GTAIV on Xbox 360 last year and that they've only recently (this year) played GTAIV on Playstation 3. Though I feel it's been well documented that the Xbox 360 was the lead console for development, you can make your own conclusion.

The truth is that both versions will likely look the same. However it inevitable that both versions will get picked apart by the media. If there is a better version (other than the fact that the Xbox 360 version will have rumble, Achievements, custom sound tracks and the episodic content), I'd put my money on the Xbox 360 version.

For one thing, I imagine at least one of the 14,000 GTA4 previews that hit the web last week might've mentioned if the PS3 was signicantly inferior to the 360 with regards to framerate or load times.

Solid framerate "even when my rockets were eating up the cityscape", warmer colours than the more vibrant colours of the 360 (i prefer more realistic gaming anyway, not halo colours. easily changed with gamma levels) and they said they both look identical.

So you actually think MS paid for the game to look better as well? This game isn't a console exclusive like Gears was. It's multiplat. I highly doubt a R* would intentionally make one version of the game better then the other (content excluded). This game will still sell very well on the PS3 after all. Releasing a crappier version only makes R* look bad to all the current PS3 fans they have.

All we know is that the RAGE engine has been tried and tested on the 360 hardware already with Table Tennis. From that we can draw the conclusion that the 360 probably is their lead platform. Yeah, the series is great. And it sells well. And its a multiplat. It will probably sell like Burnout/DMC4/COD4 did, where the clear edge of the 360's 1 year head start userbase buys 20k more than the PS3's user base.

Its going to move consoles for both the PS3/360.

I feel like the fanaticism here (Bladestar) is at a point to where it is no longer making sense. Developers are getting better with the PS3, COD4/Burnout/DMC4 are all great examples of what Devs can do when they hire qualified people to do so. The differences we are seeing now will always be there. The 360 does different things in different ways than that PS3.

I know you will personally never accept that multiplats will be roughly equal(because you havent gamed before this generation) but thats the way it has always been. Exclusive titles are what have always showed off the consoles capabilities and power. It tool devs some time to come to terms with the PS2. They were saying exactly the same thing when it came out, then when other devs started putting time into it, they actually pulled off great results. Other Devs then understood that it no longer looks like its the PS2 is hard to program for, but that they are inept at programming with new technology.

I have not bought a ps3 yet as at the moment there are to many good games that i am still playing though on my wii/360. My only worry is the fact that many games will be multi platform now due to the rising exspense of production and therefore a lot of games wont use the raw power of the ps3 and may also have technical problems due to its radically different architecture.

There is also the problem that the ps3 Os takes up a fair bit of memory and blue ray has slower read times meaning a lot of game data must be cached to the hard drive. These problems make me wonder just how well geared towards games the ps3 is. Gt prologue is making me into a believer but i still have doubt's.

Does anyone else have a high def Tv and can tell me what the graphics are like on some of the ps3's exclusive titles compared to the 360?

Uncharted looks and plays fantastic. It was great to play an action/platform/puzzle game with no loading during the game itself. Heavenly Sword is a game that EVERY PS3 owner should at least rent, if not buy. Ratchet & Clank: ToD was a GREAT platforming romp that is a blast to play. The levels are HUGE and have a lot going on in them, the levels feel more alive with everything going on all around your character.

All three games are great examples of the PS3's prowess, and all three are EARLY PS3 games, meaning that things will only get better from here. All of the other PS3 exclusives are good as well, but Uncharted, HS, and R&C: ToD are the best examples in my opinion.

The PS3's games are only going to improve from here. The radically different architecture of the PS3 presented challenges to developers initially, but devs are learning how to take advantage of this new architecture and producing some great games for it.

Both consoles will have great games. My best recommendation is to get both, and enjoy all that both of them have to offer.

GTA IV will be the same on both the 360 and PS3. PS3 and 360 have a smooth framerate, the 360 is suppose to have bighter colours and the PS3 is suppose to have better AA which means less jaggies.

Zonetrooper you must be crazy man. Either you havent played COD4 or you were on crack while playing it, because COD4 is simply one incredible game. It would'nt be this successful if so many people did'nt think it was good. It is quite possible that COD4 is more popular than Halo 3, many gamers seem to think so.

Back to the subject, I knew this GTA4 news was a load of bulls**t. I read the IGN they have already hands-on previewed both the PS3 and the 360 version and they said both were mostly the same with a few differences. The PS3 has better anti-aliasing visuals and the 360 with brighter colours. Until we see the final game for both versions, it should just be left as it is.

Rockstar Games have had struggles on ensuring that Bully runs at full speed on the vastly inferior Xbox 360 console. With that said, Dark Sniper expects Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360 to be horrendous in controls, terrible frame rate issues, screen tearing and washed out textures. The downloadable content is compensation for what they could not due on the inferior platform.
